@213Tkd A lot of these people don't realize olympic style is points based so the fighters are manipulating the system rather than actually out skilling the opponent. @MrXxFluffyXxBurritoX exactly, its the rules that are limiting these fighters not the style. Tae Kwon Do fighters can easily compete with other styles if it were a different system of rules.
@WaseemDiab Hmmm... I've been learning Taekwondo since 2006. This is a hypothetical situation but say if you were involved in a fight on the street, using fists would be better. If you've learnt boxing then you'd be able to evade and strike the other person quicker in my opinion. In saying that, you probably think that I'm shit at Taekwondo but I'm not. I just really think that Taekwondo isn't that good a style to compete in the real world... I don't know.
@SergeantFiasco It depends on who can manipulate the situation better, the tkd person would have to keep their distance. The fact is no style is truly superior, it all comes down to how hard you train.
@pocketlegendspunk This is olympic tae kwon do, you don't want to defend yourself, you want to earn as many points as possible by counter kicking with a higher value kick.
@brunothebrowndog I think the contestants would rather not get seriously injured than score as many points as possible. If you are injured, YOU CAN'T GET ANY POINTS AT ALL.
This is the main problem with Taekwondo, it is too kick dependent. I realize that a well landed kick will do more damage than a well landed punch but kicks are too easy to read.
@nunchuks1473 I was able to read almost everyone of their kicks, then again, I was viewing it from a third-person angle. I'm just saying that if they fought a person of another martial art, Tang Soo Do for example, they would be putting themselves in dangerous situations by kicking that much. All it takes is one catch and the TKD practitioner just left himself open to a throw.
@RecliningWhale its only sport tae kwon do that is dependant on kicking and also kicking is a more devastating blow than a punch. the punch in the sport part of taekwondo is more to throw off your oponent since kicks are all that count for points. when youre in the match against someone at that level of tae kwon do i doubt you would have enough time to read and block or catch the kick with your arms thats why they focus on counter kicks instead of arm blocks.
@NeverJustWords It is actually easier to read kicks than punches because no matter how fast your kicks are, a punch is faster. I have never had any trouble reading my opponents moves let alone their kicks. Also, the kicks the practioners were using the most were kicks that are telegraphed.
@RecliningWhale i dont disagree that it easier to read kicks and that punches are faster just a kick is more powerful . and in the sport of taekwondo the point of getting a point for kicking to the chest and two for kicking to the head is based on the fact that its easier to dodge a kick than a punch, but you could counter kick a punch attempt and counter punch a kick attempt , its all on the fighter and their timing.
@NeverJustWords Okay, I see what you're trying to say. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I thought you were trying to ignore the fact that kicks are easy to counter. That is why I have went out of my way to take multiple different martial arts so that I can blend them together. Hybrid martial arts are also very helpful because unlike traditional martial arts, they are not weighed down by multiple restrictions.
@RecliningWhale no worries man. and i agree learning a few styles would probably help alot in a real fight since youre more prepared. at the tae kwon do school i go to our self defence is mixed with hup gui do and a few other styles so that were prepared but our sparring is traditional like this.
@RecliningWhale Its not actually easier to see a kick than a punch because fighters don't look at the legs when squaring off. If the kicks are easy to see then that just means the fighter isn't good.
@hazza3 See that is something you are supposed to learn on day one. You shouldn't focus on anything in particular, instead you should see everything. And if you look at a martial artist's kick and their punch, the kick is telegraphed much more obviously than a punch is. A punch is a small movement, kicks (even low kicks) are large movements involving a much larger body part.
@RecliningWhale Most beginners can't even keep their hands up for boxing. Its difficult to assess the whole area. You can't look at both upper and lower, you can only see one. An experienced fighter will know when a kick or a punch is coming without looking at either weapons. Kicks are not easily telegraphed, they're a hell of a lot harder to see than a punch. Punches need more effort to land. If a kick is seen, the obviously that fighter isn't a kicker.
@hazza3 There is one question I must ask you before any of this continues, What martial art do you do/what kind of fighter are you? Kicking requires more movement than any properly executed punch. My own brother is a "kicker" and I can see his kicks. I have a lot of experience (I don't know how much you have) fighting both sparring and real. I can see both parts of the body and my stance requires that I keep my hands down (modified hitman stance).
@RecliningWhale I spent nearly 9 years in 2 different styles of Taekwondo, spent some years with Taijutsu, Systema and now currently training in Muay Thai and MMA. I see you're a gamer.
Kicking requires more muscles and generates more power and speed. Seeing a punch is easier than a kick because it is Kickboxing after all, so there is both boxing and kicking.
Seeing both would mean you're far away from the opponent so you can see the whole body but then that means you're not fighting.
@hazza3 Yes, I'm a gamer as well as a martial artist. I have spent my whole life training. Kicking does require more muscles but with those muscles come larger movements, and that makes it easier to see. Punching requires less movement and punches are generally faster than kicks, making them harder to see (but not hard). I can see both because I do not focus on anything in particular. I see everything without missing anything. I can do this at any range, whether that be grappling or long range.
@RecliningWhale No, lmfao. Punches SEEM faster because they're at the upper body near the face. Kicks are not slower and aren't bigger. They use more muscles, that means they use more power and speed than a punch does. Punches are easier to see because they're in eye sight unlike legs.
Its also not easy to evade or block a kick, especially by someone who is good at kicking. Yeah I doubt you can.
@hazza3 Now I'm starting to doubt that you have actually done any martial arts at all. Punches are faster. Kicks are stronger. If you are incapable of punching faster than you can kick you are either missing some muscles or don't know how to punch. If you look at a Jab, and look at a side kick you will see that the kick is both slower and larger.
I can easily evade and block kicks, kicker or otherwise. Are you sure you are a martial artist? You're starting to sound like a fan instead.
@RecliningWhale Funny, my first thought at your first comment was that you had never been in a fight before, let a lone trained.
Punches seem faster because they are easier to learn and use. The kicks use more muscles and if you have any good training as a kickboxer and physics, then you'd know that a kick actually can travel faster. A jab has less space to travel between than a kick does, but that doesn't mean its faster.
lmfao, easily evade? Yeah if you're 2 meters away then sure kid.
@hazza3 I don't do kick boxing, I tend to stick to hybrid martial arts because they are more diverse. Just because you are too slow/blind to evade a kick doesn't mean all of us are. Physics? I am a science buff, don't even bother arguing science with me. Kicks are slower than punches. This is why punches act as an affective counter to kicks. Do the research, please.
P.S.: I'm not a kid, I would appreciate it if you refrained from calling me one.
@RecliningWhale In any combat sport, a fighter is always looking each other in the eyes, thats why kicks are harder to see, because the fighters don't get much room between them and they're not looking down, not unless you plan to grapple them to the ground. Yes, everyone, even experienced pro fighters don't always see a kick coming.
Yeah and im a rocket scientist.
You still don't get it. You're a kid who watches UFc and Ong Bak and think that fighting is easy and kicks are slow.
@hazza3 Haha and that is where you are wrong, not all fighters look each other in the eyes (I don't). I don't focus on anything, look up Dynamic sight.
That's very nice, tell your rocket buddies hi for me.
UFC is stupid, while I have heard of Ong Bak, I never watched it. Fighting is easy, winning is a different story. Most kicks are easy, all kicks are slow when compared to a properly executed punch. Oh and I'm not a kid. I may or may not be older than you but I'm still a legal adult.
@hazza3 I see no reason in trying to argue with you any longer, you have descended to the realm of trolls. Its Internet Martial Artist like you that give us IRL Martial Artist a bad name.
@RecliningWhale In taekwondo, we look the opponent in the eyes to confuse them. Kicks may not be as fast as punches however one kick to anywhere above your neck can knock you out in one. Punches can do similar damage but they have to be aimed precisely. ( temple, nose, chin for example). Most kicks are NOT easy. You may think you can kick, but it takes years of practice in order to prefect even the most simplest of kicks.
@typicalindianshiv So true. I come from a ITF school, and we fight with a combanation of kicks and hand techniques. Kicks are our power, but we use our hands to create openings in our opponent's guard for our kicks.
@typicalindianshiv I understand where your coming from, it took me weeks before I perfected my lunging back kick but it was well worth it. I don't look my opponent in the eyes, instead I look at everything at the same time. From their head to their feet.
@hazza3 well if you practice TKD you look at the hips, not the eye.... actually practice TKD before talkin about it. if your dumb you look at the eyes and that person will do fake kicks and catch you... when you do fake kicks your hip dont move.... when you do real kicks your hips move, thats why you look at the person hips........ learn your sh*t before you talk...
@hazza3 You are obviously not a martial artist because of your level of disrespect towards Imrasta21. One more thing, my friend. maybe should get your fat ass off of Mortal Combat and try to take Tae Kwon Doe or any other martial art for that matter. Not only have you proven yourself to be the "wannabe," you've also made yourself look like a shit-talking weirdo. Just throwing that out there, genius.
@Iambearjew1 So you've read what I've said but not the disrespect he's shown me. Just because I AM a martial artist, doesn't mean I HAVE to be polite to every asshole who thinks he knows better but clearly doesn't. 4 years Rhee Taekwondo and 4 years ITF. ITF was a nightmare showing of real Taekwondo. Now you're just proving that there are just more wannabes on the internet who have nothing better to do other than banter about "styles".
@hazza3 also they do get enough room because you cant kick someone with your instep if your too close the perfect area requires being able to see there feet at the bottom of your eyes.
@Imrasta21 Again, I WAS TALKING ABOUT KICKBOXING, IN A 12X12 RING. HE SAID YOU CAN'T DO TAEKWONDO KICKS AND I SAID YOU CAN BECAUSE 12 FEET IS BIG YOU DUMB ASS. NEXT TIME, READ WHAT PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT BEFORE JUMPING INTO THE CONVERSATION YOU JACKASS.
@RecliningWhale your even more dumb than hazza3 becuz a jab isnt the same as a side kick, a jab is the same as a push kick. The push kick travels faster and it will knock you down if ur not onguard for it every second of a fight.
@hazza3 on average the legs are three times stronger than the arms, so if you learn how to kick properly then you can kick some serious ass, literally
@chriswereheer Legs are four times larger than arms, Korea is a mountain filled country, this is why they trained their legs more than their arms, because their legs are naturally strong.
@hazza3 Are you happy in your little tae kwon do bubble with your 12 thumbs up from youtube basement dwellers?
I can demolish your arguement with one word: Tyson.
Pacquiao, Mosley, Cesar Chaves, Alvarez, Ali, Pep, Frazier...the list goes on and on.
I agree that a PROPERLY TRAINED strike can be fast. Your mistake is to compare kicks > punches simply because you picked one of both that can be trained, then acted like it was some deadly shit. If you kicked me i would laugh it off
@sireweezsmucker1 If it makes you happy then I am happy. I wasn't trying to say that kicking is superior, I was just explaining to the gumpy kid that Kicks are not slow or weak. You should try seeing the conversation before jumping in. Besides it was like 2 months ago, I stopped caring but people still get upset about it and can't get over old words and like my comments and shit I could care less who likes it or dislikes it.
@hazza3 im plus you get more distance with ur leg and ur leg is most likly stronger than ur fist or push or what ever also thubs up if nunchucks are the best weapon besides gun or sword
hands down, chin up... thats the way to coach people you dont like, so the get knocked out! These athletes should have their hands tied behind their back because they refuse to even use their arms to block the scoring zones. If a competitor would ever use a fighters logic in the TKD ring, that person will easily win at TKD. TKD has become an expression of martial arts more than a fighting art nowadays.
I enjoyed TKW since 5 years ago and has been the best experience in my life. I think the most important thing of this martial art is not the kick but the discipline..and ofc the sound of the armor after a good placed Bakat Chaki :D
@TheDIYpyro the reason why there not using there hands is because its point sparring and if you punch to the head its against the rules and you get points deducted
oh yeah punching, a kick is 3-5 times stronger than a punch, id rather kick someone than punch any day. u can punch in taekwondo and u can receive points but usually its just for a quick block and hit to get your opponent off balance and then followed up with a combo while your target is thrown off balance.
for those of you talking about upper body, we keep our hands up until we get comfortable. plus try blocking, kicking, and spinning, all with your hands up. if you dont do the martial art, dont be so quick to judge it. oh yeah if its inferior, try finding a martial art with amazing footwork. and an example of upper body protection is all over the video, i repeat, try covering yourself when kicking, and try getting kicked in the arm. hurts dont judge if you dont do it
@lmaoXDish Boxing has great footwork, Chun Kuk Do has great foot work, Jeet Kun Do has great footwork, Kickboxing has great footwork, should I go on? I have been doing martial arts for quite sometime and it is quite easy to keep your guard up whilst kicking. Actually it is actually preferred by most people. I will admit though that my sparring/practical stance doesn't have any high guard what so ever. My stance is a lowered hangman stance I rely on my arm movement and speed to block/deflect.
@RecliningWhale my uncle used to box and i meant, whereas other martial arts and sports focus on certain things, such as some weapons, some blocking, some kicking, some punching, etc. taekwondo is known for its amazing footwork because that's our specialty and im going to look up hitman style because it sounds cool. :)
@lmaoXDish I agree with you 100%, those TKD practitioners had AMAZING footwork, and their balance was amazing. Most people have trouble recoiling their leg after kicking, the fact that those people were able to not only recoil their leg so fast but also fire of another kick from the other leg was astonishing. I take a hybrid martial art, so I have experience with many different styles and different techniques. Because of that I can truly appreciate the skill it takes to do what TKD does.
@RecliningWhale and it hurts alot to get kicked in the arms, im still bruised from my last nights sparring class, these olympians are amazing at what they do, try blocking a full out kick with ur arms, it hurts
@lmaoXDish I have and do block kicks with my arms (that is why I modified the hitman stance). I agree it does hurt, but I have developed the ability to block out most pain (If I break my arm I WILL feel it). This is incredibly helpful I recommend that everybody learn how. You should try to redirect the kicks (only if your style permits it) it allows you to completely avoid taking the full force of the kick. This both wears out your opponent and helps you gain an advantage.
@lmaoXDish FYI: Hangman is is modified version of Hitman style, which is a boxing stance. I do not take boxing so I had to modify the Hitman style and we(my teacher and I) came up with the Hangman style this allowed us to incorporate better kicks and other techniques. I then further modified the stance to suit me So I use "Lowered Hangman Stance". Hope this helped.
@simy33simy33 Your always allowed to use your hands but it depends in which Tae Kwon Do federation you fight in if it counts as a point or not. You have two main organizations, the WTF (World Taekwondo Federation), which is the most common one (also the one used in olympics), which uses primarily legs to fight and is the one more seen as a sport. While the ITF (International Taekwondo Federation) focuses more on the martial art, and hands do count as a point.
@simy33simy33 hands free. Its what makes traditional taekwondo inferior to other fighting styles really. Who cares how skilled your feet are if you train with your hands down 24/7 and have a comfort zone thats inside of another persons punch-zone. I'd compare it to something more like wrestling than a martial art.
@EvilTurnips People in general tend to be a little more bold and out spoken when they know there aren't going to be any concequences for what they say or do. A perfect example would be a child that mouths off to an adult and the parents of that child act like it's no big deal. Because the parents doesn't check there child and let them know that's wrong, it's a green light for the kid for lack of a better word to be an asshole. On youtube the green light is well, there not in person.
Pretty cool video. Of course TKD is a specialty art but that's fine because specialty arts develop the most skill in their area; in the context of cross-training with other arts it seems to still have a lot to offer and a number of MMA fighters are training in and integrating TKD techniques
all the morons commenting bad in this video.they do not know what is the meanigng of taekwondo.i think maybe without armor, the will be beating each other
Barely any of them keep up their gaurds ? I love sparring and I've sparred against blue belts and im a yellow belt :) My sensi says i have exellent standards and i was one of 3 inmy class of 25 to double grade that day :)
@JedwardLeah They don't keep up their guard, cause they know that the enemy wont use any hand techniques, and the concentrate on countering or over-performing with pure leg techniques (That's the olympic taekwondo sadly..).. If they keep their hands free, they can deal out stronger hits with their legs.
Although this is a olympic sport, and it's far from the real martial arts... It is still pretty damn brutal, compared with sports like tennis and such.
@JedwardLeah In taekwondo, you're not supposed to keep your guard up or block with your hands. In olympic sparring, there's not hand techniques. If you were to block your opponent's kick...you would probably end up with a broken arm.
@JedwardLeah That's tight. There was this Orange belt belt sparring a purple belt at our sparring practice last night and he won 3-1. It was hillarious as hell. His points were simply a right roundhouse kick, a left spinning back kick, and a front snap kick. Some people just get too cocky. :/ I remember thinking I could beat orange belts back when I was Green or Blue with no problem, but got overconfident and loss. rofl

This is the main problem with Taekwondo, it is too kick dependent. I realize that a well landed kick will do more damage than a well landed punch but kicks are too easy to read.
RecliningWhale 3 months ago
@RecliningWhale only the pros of the same level TaeKwonDo can read the kick that easy. They should use hands as well though, I agree with that part
nunchuks1473 3 months ago
@nunchuks1473 I was able to read almost everyone of their kicks, then again, I was viewing it from a third-person angle. I'm just saying that if they fought a person of another martial art, Tang Soo Do for example, they would be putting themselves in dangerous situations by kicking that much. All it takes is one catch and the TKD practitioner just left himself open to a throw.
RecliningWhale 3 months ago
@RecliningWhale its only sport tae kwon do that is dependant on kicking and also kicking is a more devastating blow than a punch. the punch in the sport part of taekwondo is more to throw off your oponent since kicks are all that count for points. when youre in the match against someone at that level of tae kwon do i doubt you would have enough time to read and block or catch the kick with your arms thats why they focus on counter kicks instead of arm blocks.
NeverJustWords 3 months ago
@NeverJustWords It is actually easier to read kicks than punches because no matter how fast your kicks are, a punch is faster. I have never had any trouble reading my opponents moves let alone their kicks. Also, the kicks the practioners were using the most were kicks that are telegraphed.
RecliningWhale 3 months ago

RecliningWhale 3 months ago
@RecliningWhale no worries man. and i agree learning a few styles would probably help alot in a real fight since youre more prepared. at the tae kwon do school i go to our self defence is mixed with hup gui do and a few other styles so that were prepared but our sparring is traditional like this.
NeverJustWords 3 months ago
@RecliningWhale Its not actually easier to see a kick than a punch because fighters don't look at the legs when squaring off. If the kicks are easy to see then that just means the fighter isn't good.
hazza3 3 months ago 6
@hazza3 See that is something you are supposed to learn on day one. You shouldn't focus on anything in particular, instead you should see everything. And if you look at a martial artist's kick and their punch, the kick is telegraphed much more obviously than a punch is. A punch is a small movement, kicks (even low kicks) are large movements involving a much larger body part.
RecliningWhale 2 months ago
@RecliningWhale Most beginners can't even keep their hands up for boxing. Its difficult to assess the whole area. You can't look at both upper and lower, you can only see one. An experienced fighter will know when a kick or a punch is coming without looking at either weapons. Kicks are not easily telegraphed, they're a hell of a lot harder to see than a punch. Punches need more effort to land. If a kick is seen, the obviously that fighter isn't a kicker.
hazza3 2 months ago 5
@hazza3 There is one question I must ask you before any of this continues, What martial art do you do/what kind of fighter are you? Kicking requires more movement than any properly executed punch. My own brother is a "kicker" and I can see his kicks. I have a lot of experience (I don't know how much you have) fighting both sparring and real. I can see both parts of the body and my stance requires that I keep my hands down (modified hitman stance).
RecliningWhale 2 months ago
@RecliningWhale I spent nearly 9 years in 2 different styles of Taekwondo, spent some years with Taijutsu, Systema and now currently training in Muay Thai and MMA. I see you're a gamer.
Kicking requires more muscles and generates more power and speed. Seeing a punch is easier than a kick because it is Kickboxing after all, so there is both boxing and kicking.
Seeing both would mean you're far away from the opponent so you can see the whole body but then that means you're not fighting.
hazza3 2 months ago 14
@hazza3 Yes, I'm a gamer as well as a martial artist. I have spent my whole life training. Kicking does require more muscles but with those muscles come larger movements, and that makes it easier to see. Punching requires less movement and punches are generally faster than kicks, making them harder to see (but not hard). I can see both because I do not focus on anything in particular. I see everything without missing anything. I can do this at any range, whether that be grappling or long range.
RecliningWhale 2 months ago
@RecliningWhale No, lmfao. Punches SEEM faster because they're at the upper body near the face. Kicks are not slower and aren't bigger. They use more muscles, that means they use more power and speed than a punch does. Punches are easier to see because they're in eye sight unlike legs.
Its also not easy to evade or block a kick, especially by someone who is good at kicking. Yeah I doubt you can.
hazza3 2 months ago 17
@hazza3 Now I'm starting to doubt that you have actually done any martial arts at all. Punches are faster. Kicks are stronger. If you are incapable of punching faster than you can kick you are either missing some muscles or don't know how to punch. If you look at a Jab, and look at a side kick you will see that the kick is both slower and larger.
I can easily evade and block kicks, kicker or otherwise. Are you sure you are a martial artist? You're starting to sound like a fan instead.
RecliningWhale 2 months ago
@RecliningWhale Funny, my first thought at your first comment was that you had never been in a fight before, let a lone trained.
Punches seem faster because they are easier to learn and use. The kicks use more muscles and if you have any good training as a kickboxer and physics, then you'd know that a kick actually can travel faster. A jab has less space to travel between than a kick does, but that doesn't mean its faster.
lmfao, easily evade? Yeah if you're 2 meters away then sure kid.
hazza3 2 months ago 4
@hazza3 I don't do kick boxing, I tend to stick to hybrid martial arts because they are more diverse. Just because you are too slow/blind to evade a kick doesn't mean all of us are. Physics? I am a science buff, don't even bother arguing science with me. Kicks are slower than punches. This is why punches act as an affective counter to kicks. Do the research, please.
P.S.: I'm not a kid, I would appreciate it if you refrained from calling me one.
RecliningWhale 2 months ago
@RecliningWhale In any combat sport, a fighter is always looking each other in the eyes, thats why kicks are harder to see, because the fighters don't get much room between them and they're not looking down, not unless you plan to grapple them to the ground. Yes, everyone, even experienced pro fighters don't always see a kick coming.
Yeah and im a rocket scientist.
You still don't get it. You're a kid who watches UFc and Ong Bak and think that fighting is easy and kicks are slow.
hazza3 2 months ago 5
@hazza3 Haha and that is where you are wrong, not all fighters look each other in the eyes (I don't). I don't focus on anything, look up Dynamic sight.
That's very nice, tell your rocket buddies hi for me.
UFC is stupid, while I have heard of Ong Bak, I never watched it. Fighting is easy, winning is a different story. Most kicks are easy, all kicks are slow when compared to a properly executed punch. Oh and I'm not a kid. I may or may not be older than you but I'm still a legal adult.
RecliningWhale 2 months ago
@RecliningWhale Alright kid, you go on and believe it.
hazza3 2 months ago 2
@hazza3 I see no reason in trying to argue with you any longer, you have descended to the realm of trolls. Its Internet Martial Artist like you that give us IRL Martial Artist a bad name.
RecliningWhale 2 months ago
@RecliningWhale Ok Kid, see ya.
hazza3 2 months ago
@RecliningWhale In taekwondo, we look the opponent in the eyes to confuse them. Kicks may not be as fast as punches however one kick to anywhere above your neck can knock you out in one. Punches can do similar damage but they have to be aimed precisely. ( temple, nose, chin for example). Most kicks are NOT easy. You may think you can kick, but it takes years of practice in order to prefect even the most simplest of kicks.
typicalindianshiv 2 months ago
@typicalindianshiv So true. I come from a ITF school, and we fight with a combanation of kicks and hand techniques. Kicks are our power, but we use our hands to create openings in our opponent's guard for our kicks.
360Corentin 2 months ago
@typicalindianshiv I understand where your coming from, it took me weeks before I perfected my lunging back kick but it was well worth it. I don't look my opponent in the eyes, instead I look at everything at the same time. From their head to their feet.
RecliningWhale 2 months ago
@hazza3 well if you practice TKD you look at the hips, not the eye.... actually practice TKD before talkin about it. if your dumb you look at the eyes and that person will do fake kicks and catch you... when you do fake kicks your hip dont move.... when you do real kicks your hips move, thats why you look at the person hips........ learn your sh*t before you talk...

@Imrasta21 ...I was talking about kickboxing you dumb fuck. btw, even in Taekwondo SPORT you still don't look down. What idiot looks DOWN.
Its spelled, SHIT, SHIT like your life, not SH*T but SHIT with an I you ignorant wannabe loser.
hazza3 1 month ago 4
@hazza3 You are obviously not a martial artist because of your level of disrespect towards Imrasta21. One more thing, my friend. maybe should get your fat ass off of Mortal Combat and try to take Tae Kwon Doe or any other martial art for that matter. Not only have you proven yourself to be the "wannabe," you've also made yourself look like a shit-talking weirdo. Just throwing that out there, genius.
Iambearjew1 1 month ago
@Iambearjew1 So you've read what I've said but not the disrespect he's shown me. Just because I AM a martial artist, doesn't mean I HAVE to be polite to every asshole who thinks he knows better but clearly doesn't. 4 years Rhee Taekwondo and 4 years ITF. ITF was a nightmare showing of real Taekwondo. Now you're just proving that there are just more wannabes on the internet who have nothing better to do other than banter about "styles".
hazza3 1 month ago
@hazza3 also they do get enough room because you cant kick someone with your instep if your too close the perfect area requires being able to see there feet at the bottom of your eyes.

@RecliningWhale your even more dumb than hazza3 becuz a jab isnt the same as a side kick, a jab is the same as a push kick. The push kick travels faster and it will knock you down if ur not onguard for it every second of a fight.
Imrasta21 1 month ago
@hazza3 on average the legs are three times stronger than the arms, so if you learn how to kick properly then you can kick some serious ass, literally
chriswereheer 1 month ago
@chriswereheer Legs are four times larger than arms, Korea is a mountain filled country, this is why they trained their legs more than their arms, because their legs are naturally strong.
hazza3 1 month ago
@hazza3 Are you happy in your little tae kwon do bubble with your 12 thumbs up from youtube basement dwellers?
I can demolish your arguement with one word: Tyson.
Pacquiao, Mosley, Cesar Chaves, Alvarez, Ali, Pep, Frazier...the list goes on and on.
I agree that a PROPERLY TRAINED strike can be fast. Your mistake is to compare kicks > punches simply because you picked one of both that can be trained, then acted like it was some deadly shit. If you kicked me i would laugh it off
sireweezsmucker1 1 month ago
@sireweezsmucker1 If it makes you happy then I am happy. I wasn't trying to say that kicking is superior, I was just explaining to the gumpy kid that Kicks are not slow or weak. You should try seeing the conversation before jumping in. Besides it was like 2 months ago, I stopped caring but people still get upset about it and can't get over old words and like my comments and shit I could care less who likes it or dislikes it.
hazza3 1 month ago
@hazza3 im plus you get more distance with ur leg and ur leg is most likly stronger than ur fist or push or what ever also thubs up if nunchucks are the best weapon besides gun or sword
bebeechica121893 1 month ago
hands down, chin up... thats the way to coach people you dont like, so the get knocked out! These athletes should have their hands tied behind their back because they refuse to even use their arms to block the scoring zones. If a competitor would ever use a fighters logic in the TKD ring, that person will easily win at TKD. TKD has become an expression of martial arts more than a fighting art nowadays.

oh yeah punching, a kick is 3-5 times stronger than a punch, id rather kick someone than punch any day. u can punch in taekwondo and u can receive points but usually its just for a quick block and hit to get your opponent off balance and then followed up with a combo while your target is thrown off balance.
lmaoXDish 4 months ago
for those of you talking about upper body, we keep our hands up until we get comfortable. plus try blocking, kicking, and spinning, all with your hands up. if you dont do the martial art, dont be so quick to judge it. oh yeah if its inferior, try finding a martial art with amazing footwork. and an example of upper body protection is all over the video, i repeat, try covering yourself when kicking, and try getting kicked in the arm. hurts dont judge if you dont do it
lmaoXDish 4 months ago
@lmaoXDish Boxing has great footwork, Chun Kuk Do has great foot work, Jeet Kun Do has great footwork, Kickboxing has great footwork, should I go on? I have been doing martial arts for quite sometime and it is quite easy to keep your guard up whilst kicking. Actually it is actually preferred by most people. I will admit though that my sparring/practical stance doesn't have any high guard what so ever. My stance is a lowered hangman stance I rely on my arm movement and speed to block/deflect.
RecliningWhale 3 months ago
@RecliningWhale my uncle used to box and i meant, whereas other martial arts and sports focus on certain things, such as some weapons, some blocking, some kicking, some punching, etc. taekwondo is known for its amazing footwork because that's our specialty and im going to look up hitman style because it sounds cool. :)
lmaoXDish 3 months ago
@lmaoXDish I agree with you 100%, those TKD practitioners had AMAZING footwork, and their balance was amazing. Most people have trouble recoiling their leg after kicking, the fact that those people were able to not only recoil their leg so fast but also fire of another kick from the other leg was astonishing. I take a hybrid martial art, so I have experience with many different styles and different techniques. Because of that I can truly appreciate the skill it takes to do what TKD does.
RecliningWhale 3 months ago
@RecliningWhale and it hurts alot to get kicked in the arms, im still bruised from my last nights sparring class, these olympians are amazing at what they do, try blocking a full out kick with ur arms, it hurts
lmaoXDish 3 months ago
@lmaoXDish I have and do block kicks with my arms (that is why I modified the hitman stance). I agree it does hurt, but I have developed the ability to block out most pain (If I break my arm I WILL feel it). This is incredibly helpful I recommend that everybody learn how. You should try to redirect the kicks (only if your style permits it) it allows you to completely avoid taking the full force of the kick. This both wears out your opponent and helps you gain an advantage.
RecliningWhale 3 months ago
@lmaoXDish FYI: Hangman is is modified version of Hitman style, which is a boxing stance. I do not take boxing so I had to modify the Hitman style and we(my teacher and I) came up with the Hangman style this allowed us to incorporate better kicks and other techniques. I then further modified the stance to suit me So I use "Lowered Hangman Stance". Hope this helped.

simy33simy33 4 months ago
@simy33simy33 you can use your hands but if u hit them it doesnt count as a point
KAISER561 4 months ago
@simy33simy33 Your always allowed to use your hands but it depends in which Tae Kwon Do federation you fight in if it counts as a point or not. You have two main organizations, the WTF (World Taekwondo Federation), which is the most common one (also the one used in olympics), which uses primarily legs to fight and is the one more seen as a sport. While the ITF (International Taekwondo Federation) focuses more on the martial art, and hands do count as a point.
Elladon 4 months ago
@simy33simy33 hands free. Its what makes traditional taekwondo inferior to other fighting styles really. Who cares how skilled your feet are if you train with your hands down 24/7 and have a comfort zone thats inside of another persons punch-zone. I'd compare it to something more like wrestling than a martial art.

EvilTurnips 4 months ago
@EvilTurnips Cause they don't have the guts to be mean to each other in real life
madpianizt 4 months ago
@EvilTurnips People in general tend to be a little more bold and out spoken when they know there aren't going to be any concequences for what they say or do. A perfect example would be a child that mouths off to an adult and the parents of that child act like it's no big deal. Because the parents doesn't check there child and let them know that's wrong, it's a green light for the kid for lack of a better word to be an asshole. On youtube the green light is well, there not in person.

JedwardLeah 5 months ago
@JedwardLeah They don't keep up their guard, cause they know that the enemy wont use any hand techniques, and the concentrate on countering or over-performing with pure leg techniques (That's the olympic taekwondo sadly..).. If they keep their hands free, they can deal out stronger hits with their legs.
Although this is a olympic sport, and it's far from the real martial arts... It is still pretty damn brutal, compared with sports like tennis and such.
geenius3ab 5 months ago
@JedwardLeah In taekwondo, you're not supposed to keep your guard up or block with your hands. In olympic sparring, there's not hand techniques. If you were to block your opponent's kick...you would probably end up with a broken arm.
U2LedZep 5 months ago
@JedwardLeah That's tight. There was this Orange belt belt sparring a purple belt at our sparring practice last night and he won 3-1. It was hillarious as hell. His points were simply a right roundhouse kick, a left spinning back kick, and a front snap kick. Some people just get too cocky. :/ I remember thinking I could beat orange belts back when I was Green or Blue with no problem, but got overconfident and loss. rofl
