@416e6f6e796d6f7573 -or was he just aalright for 1 season in a shite league? i would go for the latter. whu no dutch heroics for his national side. he wouldnt be taken with them as the waterboy! gers fans really do live in a world of theiorown. all these dafties wavinbg union jacks. the krauts must have been confused as the wee playing a scotting side
@ronyeats Rangers are british... theres a big difference compared to when celtic go abroad, they fly irish tricolours... thats the only real confusion... idiot
I was 5 when this was on, and can still vividly remember it. Genuinely the first time i felt disappointed. Kinda get used to it nowadays, but that Rangers side was without doubt the best in decades.
brilliant. was looking for this for a while. this was the first game i was ever at. i was only 10 years old at the time. my passion for fc bayern only growing stronger every year since. respect to rangers too i can still remember the rangers fans being great. no trouble, just good fun!
Rangers should have taken 6 points against Bayern abseloutely dominated both matches, a last minute free kick ended the match at Ibrox in a draw too :(
it evened its self out,in the final bayern hit the wood work twice, they were winning one nil till extra time, bayern would have been out against rangers if rangers got a draw,
don't understand why advocaat always subbed whoever was the left back (numan in this game, vidmar in others) & put either gio or albertz to left back to put a attacking player on (mccann in this game) instead of taking porrini off & putting reyna to right back as porinni was the weak link in my opinion.
This was a superb rangers team. Full of players with genuine quality! Could go away in Europe and play football instead of just defending playing anti-football!
Rangers were very very unlucky not to make it through the group stages as they had the players. You will never see a rangers team with this much quality ever again!!
Fuck why did I watch this I remembered Gio hitting the post but had forgotten (banished to a tormented corner of my mind) all the other near things. We would have needed the genius of Mols in the next phase tho, heartbreakingly he was never the same again. This Rangers team was 1 or 2 players short of being real contenders.
Rangers were really unlucky that year to be in a group with Valencia and Bayern, who were (with Real Madrid) two of the three most consistent teams in Europe at the time. We still shouild have qualified. Only diabolical refereeing denied us a deserved win in the earlier home game with Bayern. If we had got through I think we could have made a real impact in the knock out stages. Possibly the best Rangers side I've seen.
rangers utterly pounded bayern. We should have won that game, and if that team had gone through, they would have went very far. not saying we would have won the cup but we would have made 1/4 finals poss semis.
A great Rangers side who deserved much more in Europe
I honestly believe if Mols wasn't injured that night he would have claimed World POTY at some point in his career, I've never seen anyone turn on a ball like he did
Bang on bud!. Mols was amazing and the funny thing is if he came off we had someone in Amato who should have been given a chance at rangers. but Mols was a joy and prob wont see his likes again.
Fantastic performance and we really should have taken a point at least from that game. Munich got very lucky in both matches against us. Mols ability to turn and close control was an absolute joy to watch at that time. Shame he never got back to that level and he was phenomenal.
4x hitting the woodwork and lost, not so many British teams destroy Bayern in Munich the Rangers did , and Kahn on Mols was actually pretty inaucuous it was the way he landed that did the damage.
Can't believe we lost this match. That Rangers team were probably guilty at times of not being direct enough. Best Rangers team I ever saw though.

I'm a Celtic fan but even i felt a touch of sympathy for Rangers that night. They deserved to win, probably by at least 2 goals.

@faddy24 Bayern scored, Rangers didn't. It doesn't matter who deserves it really.

that must have been one of the hollowest 'victories' that bayern ever had. i remember them diving all over the place that night.

We know that. But for a team like Bayern to have to cheat to beat Rangers is a joke.
Bayern are supposed to be a top european team yet we are from a tiny country.

he headed the ball into the post...But kahn would have saved it anyways. Kahn is Kahn and he was staning half a m from the post.

Bullshit, Kahn never even saw the ball until it rebounded OFF the post. I hate Kahn, the guy is an utter scum bag.
