  • I have this hammock also. I love it. There is a pocket to put in a sleeping pad so that you don't have to worry about the mosquitos biting. that's what i do. The pad helps stabalize the hammock and keep your butt cheeks from getting frosty in the winter like mine did.

  • @jloneill17 About the only time I would need to use this tent is when a hurricane forces us from our home then if we return and it is destroyed I might have to use it a few weeks. Or if my wife and I split then I plan to go into the woods on my boat and live off the land. I bet I would loose weight that way then I could use an off the shelf hennesey but I would have to loose at least 150 lbs. Most hammocks max at 250lbs.

  • @cdltpx i have one that goes up to 400 pounds

  • @nightwalker2830 What is the name of your hammock? I will take my hammock out the filing cabinet and I am going to establish a bush shelter I plan to use things in the area and some things I will bring. I plan to bring a 55 gallon barrel to collect water some plastic to provide area for water collection. This will be my place to go or a place to offer to people that are having it rough elsewhere and they want a safe place to chill while they get their life together. We have jobs here a chance to

  • @cdltpx i have eagle nest outfitter hammock and a hamock bliss both hold up to 400 pounds. you can find them on amazon

  • Hi I bought that same hammoch and tarp, very cheap and good quality. Used it for the first time this november in the lake district and I loved it. I also used thick webbing as not to damage the trees.

  • @ohfuckity Glad I could help I have mine for emergencies carry in the car JIC I end up where I have no place to sleep. I can't see how the homeless can sleep on a strip of coardboard you can get a Q sized sheet at a thrift store get some wire or rope make a hammock you would be out $2 max. Enjoy your hammock remember the skeeters can get through the bottom and bite you carry some deet for them little vampires.

  • nice hammock try yarrow oil on the underside , us army says its better then deet

  • @astrialkil Thanks will look that up.

  • Your one of those "the world is ending take cover now people..." and ur comments that u keep posting make no sense and r poinless. Just sleep in ur hammock and take a breather

  • @markuswv I say have an alternative option so you don't have to place yourself in any unnecessary debt. Had I known about hammocks when I was a teen I might have had a better life I had tents and made do with what I knew about. We just paid all our debts off does that make any sense? I don't sleep in my hammock I have a sleep number if I had to I could sleep in the thing if that were the option. Some the world is ending they have debt so large they have NO home they believed the pie in the sky.

  • nice

  • Great video man. I'm a big boy too. I am a stormtracker in Oklahoma for emergency management and the National Weather Service. I've been in more tornados than birthdays. I loved the demonstration man. 5 starz. Heres a recommendation for hobbies that gets you out there, camping and hiking etc. GEOCACHING. Lots of fun. Like a treasure hunt with satelite technology. I love it. Thanks for the vid.

  • TY for the reply. I do my best to stay out of tornadoes one broken back is enough. Repaired in 2001 and went back to work. As for the weight I am on my way back down I am walking and working out iwth weights I am hoping to return to 250 and stay there. I am so tired of being too big for most clothes chairs hammocks you name it it has baan about 2 weeks and I feel much better don't know my weight just keeping on track. Keep living life your way it is the best way. Will look into GCing.

  • The best survival tip I can give is to loose weight. Get fit. Avoid heat attacks, strokes etc etc.

  • @romanbrough Like I would not notice I was over weight after knee surgery then a major back surgery. Lets compare lives I was a perfect specimen when I was 20 onward 35 I am hit by a tornado. I am what you would call a has been you are probably a never was nor will be. Weight isn't the only determining factor when it comes to heart disease. I Just read a book how full is you bucket according to it you are a prime candidate for an early grave. You never know when its your turn to loose.

  • Correction I was 31 when I was injured by a tornado.

  • cdltpx.

I am somewhat overweight. My knees are best desrcibed as worn out. And I was recently told that I have to be on blood pressure medication indefinately. I know that weight is not the only factor. But I cant mend my kness, or even find out why my blood pressure isnt what it should be. But I can try to loose some weight. I lost 20lbs in 2009, then slipped off my diet + put every pound on. I want to have more years of activity. loosing those lbs might help ps I have a Hennessy ASYM.

  • I took it wrong but at one time I was seriously considering a try for a walk on position with the New Orleans Saints but after talking with Mr. Dalton Hilliard decided that was too much like business and not a game when I look back on that it saddens me. Get yourself some walking poles that will give you four legs rather than 2 and you will work upper same time. Find a hobby that keeps you busy. I need to get over the blues best to go metal detecting that lifts spirits when I watch the sun set.

  • Hi. I invested in some LEKI poles 2 years ago. I never go walking trails without them. Used to have a metal detector, but the beeps really got to me. I mean they would go off it it lifted just off the ground by an inch too much. kept finding ALU ring pulls. Now I have difficulty bending to the floor, BP problems cause dizziness. On a survival point, I have a little camping stove and solid fuel. If the power goes off, then I can still make Tea. Would love to do a long walk.

  • Did you see my video on woodgas stove it works and with little or nothing for fuel the fan $2us from walmart powered with the sun rechargerable batteries are charged with the sun. I go to construction sites will pick up a bucket of blocks and wack them with a hatchet to burn. Last night I did a demonstration and cooked some eggs it had a flame coming out the top over 9 inches.

  • Both of my toyotas work very well the prius is unbelievable on fuel but I am fearful should it ever break. The tech is so advanced I bet it would be totaled should we get into a small fenderbender. If I had it all to do again I would go for an older diesel model and do my best to get veggie oil supplies from a resturaunt. Where you live you have a lower daily temp so that might be a pill to get to work well.

  • I use two headphones when I metaldetect one for music the other for the metal detector and that does it for me I hate the digging with a litle shouvel I will have to get a better digging tool. Every walk starts with one step if you have to carry a lightweight chair if you want to take a long walk I walked 6 miles to Walmart that way when I got tired I sat down. Had catch a ride home I could not make it back too many blisters wore wrong shoes. I use to walk 10 miles just to see a girl &walk back.

  • I also have one of these hammocks and I've found it to be very comfortable (sleeping on the diagonal). Spraying the bottom with DEET will stop the mossies, but on fabrics I think Permethrin treatments last longer (months). It packs small, and weighs bugger all.

  • Where did you buy that hammock... i want one lol

  • Google mosquito hammock. Or you can just google hammock. There are many types of camping hammocks the best of the best is supose to be a Clark hammock they are pricy but offer a layer below you to keep your boots and bugs out. I hammock can be used in the swamp between trees over the water you need no land only things to tie off. So if you wanted to boat in the swamp sleep there bug free you could do it I would keep one of these on a boat if I went in the wild regularly. This and a h20 filter.

  • Look in my favorites you will see some more applications of hammocks. Stealth camping at its finest. When you are camping in the wild like that you want to be up out of the way less likely to encounter folks into destruction. Police rarely look up into the trees for homeless people usually search the ground and bug those bums. Get high and stay dry. Climbing rope is pricy but cheaper than a night in jail or a week in the hospitol.

  • The Mosquito Hammock has a double layer bottom, so are you sure mosquitoes bite through that???

  • Absolutely positively over night. Got in was bitten applied mosquito spray with deet on lower portion of hammock no more bites the can go through that material with ease.

  • hey, thanks for the information.

im just wondering how you know police bug homeless guys so much?

  • When I was young and I was going to and from work each day the cops would hassle me. They target anything on a bike or walking.

When I was an adult in my 30's and was homeless for a few nights the police would hassle me. I now have an associates degree nearly own my home and drive everywhere I go the police never bother me they target the poor and the weaker in society. That is the young and the homeless. Police have been bullies in the past perhaps they are screening them better WTF IDK.

  • ok..... are youseriously gonna try sleepin in a hammock during or after a hurricane?

    nutter

  • We relocate and return home after all clear is issued by our local athorities. All scenerios present opportunity to use this shelter. When it comes to SURVIVAL shelter it is described at times as your clothing a lean to an emergency blanket set up as a back shield to reflect the warmth of a fire. Ice packed into an igloo snow cave a hole dug in the mud a cave a car in a snow storm. Shelter is anything that will protect you from exposure annimal attack. WE

  • if the rain hits that poncho your fucked

  • True it was tossed up in a hurry not in anticipation of rain I have yet to test it in rain. It works for what I bought it for it is an emergency shelter I have no desire to use it in the rain unless there is no other choice open.

  • a little too much to haul on bike trips..sweet design though

  • Look up mosquito hammock you might be surprised how light this tent is I don't want to misrepresent its weight but I can safely say below 3 lbs.

  • after knee surgery I put on the weight I was up to 335 at one point I have lost what to some would be a lot of weight but I need to loose at least this much more. In a month I lost 25 lbs. I now have a job driving a flatbed truck and get a good daily workout withthis job. Should I stay 310 for long I will return to my 30 min Cardio walk. My goal is to get down to250 and look like a football running back again. Thanks for the reply get out and hike or bike its fun.

  • At one point I was wondering if you were going to be able to get out, but you cut it out of the vid. Damn.

  • We had to evacuate for Gustov and a hammock camme in handy. My wife and I slept in the bunk of the bigtruck head to toe and the kid slept in a hammock streatched across the interior of the truck from the upper sleeper to the driver side mirror. We were cramped but the kid slept perfectly she had the best place to sleep. Later on we strung up both hammocks under the trailer and it was comfortable but not completely from the elements we would need to establish a way to stay dry if it were raining.

  • Hennessy Hammocks are great quality and they have a Safari model that handles my 350 lbs just fine. They also have insulation addons to make for extreme weather camping. Best hammock setup I have ever seen or used, might be something just as good out there too but I haven't seen it.

  • Thanks for the reply, I am back to work and loosing weight I hope to be back to 250 in a couple years. When I make it to that weight I will no longer need the heavy duty equipment. I am feeling better getting stronger and more active next I will exercize regularly that will really make a difference. Plan to try the Hennesy under 300 thanks a bunch.

  • This is the best idea I've seen for sleeping, thank you!

  • I haven't tried a Clark hammock personally but they seeem to be better for cooler climates they have a website online. The best idea for sleep is a concrete dome home a tornado can come in the night and you will live b/c you are in a home that is an above groung stormshelter. Since more people are killed by lightening it is sound to consider that they are safe from that too since electricity finds the shortest path to ground. I will build one one day.

  • Does the dome keep the flood out as well?

  • omg you are so smart! Why didn't I think of that?!

  • According to the MDI website a dome can be restored quicker after a flood than traditional home since the water has no interior wall space . If you were in a flood plane you could build your dome to float. There are photographs of domes up on stilts go to the MDI website you can spend months reading all the information they have on domes. Once you do that you can build your own or have MDI build one AI builds kits you can get CA plans READ and you will know why I want one.Domes are near silent!

  • Thanks cdltpx

  • wooow,,, look you have a hammock,, ,,, are you english ??

  • Thank you for commenting and viewing. I have never left the states we live 70769. We speak english and profanity depending on who is in our presence. The purpose of this demonstration is to show the capacity of the hammock with my weight of 330 that is something I check prior to sitting in any chair or buying anything that I intend to use. I am bored out my skull making videos helps maintain some sanity until I can return to work. Not everyone has seen these the bike rider in my video hasn't

  • I filmed a Utube video today titled FLOODING,The trees to the right of the shed is where I had the tent hammock set up yesterday that spot is now under 4 inches of water. If that were a tent location for a traditional ground tent those campers would be miserable. A lot of their gear would be water damaged in the woods that could cost you your life. The hammock tent would be high and dry.

  • It could help prevent sprains too the best thing to do for distressed limbs is to elevate your ankles above your heart this aids in the recovery of the stress of an extended hike. Elevation is nearly impossible in a tent imagine the stuff you would have to carry to get 1/2 as comfortable as in a hammock. Every person should have one of these even if they fly flight cancelled need a quick shelter tie up to some poles sleep/rest well until flights resume. Can be used as a lounger too.

  • The hammocks are great! Despite popular belief it doesnt hurt your back. The slight bend helps stretch out your mucles after a long hike and the gentle swaying puts you straight to sleep.

  • What type hammock do you own and why?

  • I own a cheapo "Ultralite Travel Hammock" and a "DD Hammock". I use the ultralite around the house and on holidays. But its the DD I use for camping. and Why? Because there lightweight, comfortable and no need for flat ground.
