  • the world can never be a peaceful place because of some selfish people.

  • It seems, the most of the complaints against Toyota were made by S.Korean (coincidence? I don't think so).

  • just wanna let the world know...not all americans are stupid like these people involved with some of these reports :)

  • It is an empire that it is behind this depressed party not seen. Will the American also understand enough?

  • It is a dirty party. This fellows have neither justice nor fair. A depressed party attacked a person not guilty, and the enterprise from which the home country rotted was protected illegally. It will have an own body because this thing was done and it be taken the consequences by this depressed party.

  • TOYOTA was launched out into to the thing that filed criminal charges to NHTSA due to the crime of the claim of 100 billion dollars, the fact concealment, fabrication, and destruction of evidence.

  • NHTSA conceals, fabricates the fact, and : TOYOTA by intention.

It is a garbage organization that denounced it. Such an illegal organization should dismantle it.

  • hmm. Just like Tokyo Trials. Are American still crazy to be Japanese as guilty, Americans as innocent ? No justice, No moral in U.S. now and in history. They must be kids of 10 years old. They always begins with propaganda.

They will not pay compensation for TOYOTA damages. ALL American liar will be innocent under their distorted JUSTICE.

  • Anyone else see the Date of Failure, it is shown as January 1 1900. 110 Years ago.

  • @XLDoubleDouble There were a number of them with this date - I think it is breathtakingly careless that Sean Kane manipulated these complaints into data, then drew conclusions from it and then publicized it . A first year statistics student would be kicked out class if they based their research on unverified primary data such as NHTSA complaints.

  • March 31, 2010, 9:30 pm - Sources familiar with the NHTSA / Toyota investigations have reported to Carquestions that all of the investigations of the past two weeks (more than 8) have all resulted in a finding of "driver error" and no vehicle defects have been found. It is also reported that NHTSA will halt its current round of investigations into Toyota sudden acceleration claims until further notice.

  • last one made me laugh, clearly the guy didnt know what an ignition barrel lock was, RTFM. carquestions i have sent you more pm

  • The EDR is part of the air bag computer - I wouldn't be surprised if they were using them in Japan - just in case they needed it in court.

  • @relakuma777

in 2012 it the tool to read it will be publicly available in the US

  • wow, great work Mr. appreciated it...

  • It looked like your evidence points to Diane Finstein wanting to get in on the trial lawyers loot of Toyota for fixing this Hoax in congress!

  • hey are you calling congress to tell them about this? :P

  • I'm Canadian - Can I do that? Love to but it should be from an American - Youtube has been stalling this video at 300 - until I complained last night - finally you can embed and actually watch the damn thing - you couldn't a few days ag when I made it

  • ahhh ok i see what ur saying and trust me i ahve already mailed and left a voicemail to one of my representatives and i mailed 2 more hope they watch the vid :)

  • @sircesare - thank you - very much appreciated - It's funny - it seems real news takes a week or two to get out if its not from a major network - the truth and facts seem to move slowly when they are from a source that isn't widely known.

  • did u ask real news to see the and review the vids and see what they get?

  • @sircesare - no I didn't - I don't have any real contacts in the media to send things to. I'm not against the idea I just don't know anyone

  • i wish i knew someone it would make some real good News... well man good luck at what you are doing and i subscribed to ur channel hope to see more things like this.

  • @sircesare Thanks anyway -

  • The computer controls the interaction of the motors and engine to provide a response that feels like a CVT, but the shifter is really nothing more than a switching assembly. Moving the shifter does not directly manipulate anything such as you describe. In a Prius, the shifter is only used to provide a control input to the computer.

  • In a Toyota hybrid, the transmission is nothing like you expect. There are no clutch packs and no valve assemblies, and there is no manually moving a physical piece of the transmission around.

The Prius has a power split device that consists of a planetary gear set with the ring gear connected to the primary motor/generator and drive axle, a sun gear connected to the secondary motor/generator, and the planetary carrier connected to the internal combustion engine.

  • when you push the brakes the car should stop never mind about putting it into neutral!

  • @box262 It will do as you say however most of the time you will get brake fade if you lift off and re-apply and that is what most of these brain dead complainers are doing further confusing the issue.

  • I can see that. I remember back in drivers ed, we were even tought to pump the brakes like that if you can't stop. I don't think I recall them saying when NOT to...

And yeah everyone is saying how they're slamming on them repeatidly, which of course is stupid. Once you release them, the car gets back up to speed again. Repeatidly "slamming" is completely useless.

  • JAMES SYKES..Recent news.. Prius..

They are sending a technician to investigate. The driver has to be stopped by the police.. Quesiton is why did they not recommend putting thr car in neutral.. In anycase.. it does not look good for Toyota. When the problem is confirmed you should do a youtube video.

  • @LexusISFi

    From the 911 call:

"Have you tried to put the car in neutral?"

    "No!"

    Interview with the driver:

"I thought about putting the car in neutral, um, I had never played with this kind of a transmission, especially when you're driving. I didn't know if the car would flip."

    FLIP????!!!

  • I was talking about a recent news report ( 2/09/2010. ...

There are issues with the engineering behind the breaking regeneration of the prius,

  • @LexusISFi

I was talking about the 3/9/2010 news report. James Sikes SAID that he DID NOT put the car in neutral, because he thought that might flip his car over. The brakes on his Prius were working fine, and would still be fine, if he hadn't melted them by making them fight the engine like he did.

  • They are calling the Prius driver the "ballon boy"

  • -sigh-

Who knows? It's really hard to tell anymore, with all these people chiming in about their older cars too, as soon as they heard about any recall at all.

There's a little experiment I wish I could do - eh maybe it's been done?

I just wonder what would happen if I were to take a car that still has "problems" after the floor mat recall fix, reduce the width of the brake and gas pedals a bit, move both pedals a few inches further apart, and then give it back to the owner.

  • @sneskid - There is no doubt in my mind it would work perfectly. That is the likely solution to be arrived at once again - two years from now. Right now I'm telling people who are affected to swap/loan the vehicle to someone younger for a week or two and see if the symptoms disappear.

  • Right. I mean heck I'm lazy when I drive. I rest the heel of my foot on the floor and just rotate between the gas and brake. I have no problem doing that in my car, but there are other cars where I simply can't do that for this exact reason.

I know I'm HARDLY the only person who drives this way lol

  • @carquestions

Sorry for the double post here but....

I just wanted to ask, would you happen to know how much space there is between the brake and acceleration pedals in one of these, or would you be able to measure it? Also, would you be able to measure the amount of travel the brake pedal has as well as how much the accelerator has, before it touches the floor? I'm now curious how it compares to my car.

    Thanks!

  • @sneskid It's my March break up here so it will be a week or more before I can do this - but it is something I have previously looked into - shapes, positions, angle, height etc

  • In that case, I will extend this request to anyone else watching this video.

Comment back, and post the exact measurement of space there is, between the two pedals. Also, measure range of movement of both pedals, and the distance they are from the floor, when they are not being pressed.

Also, post the make, model, and year of the car.

I'm just curious to see what happens, here.

  • @LexusISFi - Love to but the idiot AP newsman didn't bother following the car to the point of investigation or even taking a shot of the pedal area when he had the car in front of him - No problems with runaway Toyota's on this side of the border - strange eh?

  • Yes FICTION is the word.

  • False Complaint.. tsk tsk

    Lawyers lawyers lawyers

  • i know something was not right but why they are doing this to Toyota?

    i don't get it,?

many of my family have model of 2006 and 2009 Toyota and they never have a problem with any of them and i am from Thailand and we didn't get any recall here.

and i also own a 2009 Honda Fit/jazz there was something in the news about that models.

that was because the person leave his window open and is was raining so the water get inside and course a short sir-cut and the car got on fire in South Africa

  • One possibility - our feet and big boots might be the problem - also all the cars here are automatics - it doesn't happen on manual shift cars because you use both feet to stop. I'm guessing in your country most cars are manual transmissions?

  • not in Thailand many of us have automatics and all the Toyota that my family have are all automatics transmissions.

and my Honda have automatics and manual setup.

many of us in Thailand use automatics because of awful traffic jam.

  • It has something to do with the size of our feet.

  • hmm i don't know if your making a joke but i know people in the US are big and that is a polite way of saying it.

but is there anything true about this Acceleration problem?

  • I mean no dis respect to anyone but I'm not making a joke - there are ligitimate differences in peoples feet and size

  • maybe but what do i know i am a Asian.

but i didn't get a Answer about my Acceleration problem question?

  • There are no groups or races of people smarter than another - Asians are among the smartest in the world. - The acceleration problem isn't a fault with any part of the car its a problem with the driver - no one has ever found a real example of a faulty part and I talk to Toyota mechanics every day.
