Desperado is an ALBUM that is great, and you only get its fullest when you listen to the whole album. I am tired of the two songs overplayed on radio through the years. This is not one of them.
of all the best eagles albums, the first four, Bernie's songs are the most moving, melodic and poetic. the guitar on I Wish You Peace is genius. his album Natural Progressions with michael georgiades after he left the eagles may be better than any eagles album. he was certainly the most talented musician, had the best voice and was the most humble. it may be that he had a Spiritual regeneration of his heart which is why he HAD to leave the eagles.
almost 40 years later...and this is still the best...is there something wrong with a man that is stuck on this stuff?.....the whole album was sort of an "in your face " deal...Ok then,outlaw Man is still numero uno w/ me...I think it is more timely now then back then...acoustic/ryhtylm/soul...
I can never listen to this troo much..started out w/ old school 8 tracks...LOL...
50 and still wading dangerously deep...i can see bubbles coming up..without any shit this song and the entire desperado album for whatever reason keeps my head above water...being listening and believing in this albumn for over 30 years.
I was fifteen in 73 and lived in Dallas. I get it. 73' was the year of mind expansion for me. There was something in the air then. There was the afterglow of the 60's and it was long before disco choked the living shit out of ...everything.
except for the part about Pizza Hut, your message is pure poetry in essence. It doesn't surprise me to find that a person with the heart of a poet was delivering pizza in '73... and listening to Eagles songs.... }:-{)>
Always realised it would be damn hard ,but a playfull mind and good heart can make a serious difference. That choice is personal ,for the time you and I live.
The rest is what the rest only is able to bring up to be...and it aint' much.
Nothing more than MUCH ADO about nothing! The prove is given ,obvious and forever.
@theripper9 What year? This song was earlier than Joe's joining the band. Bitter Creek was from the 2nd album "Desperado". Joe didn't enter the picture until "Hotel California", the 5th studio album.
reminds me of dan peek, gerry beckley, and dewey bunnel the early days

@oldschooloats I think he HAD to leave the Eagles because Glen Frey was/is such a tool.

@oldschooloats Randy's songs were better.

My favorite Eagles song, and that says something.
I have no problem with Walsh, Felder and Schmidt at all, but to me this is the real Eagles.

This is the most underrated song by the Eagles. Its never played on the radio, but belongs in the top tier. No one wants to wade in Bitter Creek...

Thank you very much.
I'm a chef now, and still a poet at heart.
Thank you for seeing further down the road.
(I still eat Pizza Hut pizza when I can. Thin crust hamburger and mushroom with extra cheese. I put my own jalapenos on after delivery or pick-up.)
May all good things come to you and those who remember the way it used to be and how much better I hope that it will be.

I stepped out the back door of a Pizza Hut in Houston that I was working at.
The radio was on, and I was all by myself in 1973... a light cool rain had just begun outside.
Inside, the "playlist" was...
The Who - Love Reign O'er Me
Ian Matthews -Seven Bridges Road
The Eagles - Bitter Creek
I got the message.
(You kinda have to get it in a cool summer rain in Texas, 1973... or not.)
I've tried to re-create the moment... but, that would just be asking for "seconds".
Opened my mind and soul.

@wdchefdave56 That's a hell of a playlist!
