I remember this game. Peterson wasn't allowed to start because he missed a class and this was his first play and everyone was expecting him to get the ball, so they ran a reverse to wilson. It's probably worth mentioning UCLA won this game.
Peterson played three years at OU from 04-06. Never played for Bama. Awesome player for the Sooners.
Problem was, Peterson would much rather run through a defender than around him and he spent a fair amount of time injured. He still likes to knock guys on their ass, but now he plays for a team that actually mixes up the play calling, unlike Sooner's OC Kevin Wilson, who would run Peterson up the gut 50 times a game. Adrian would wear most defenses out eventually, but not every time.
He wasnt injured all that often for his style of running. He had a couple of ankle injuries and then the big collar bone injury because he dove into the endzone and landed wrong. His collarbone injury isnt due to his tough style of running. He even played through his shoulder injury that he had and it didnt slow him down.

That's pretty incredible. Look at where AD is at the start of the play and where he ends up to make that key block. The runner took the ball and ran a straight line to the end zone at full speed...I don't know how AD was able to go the other way turn around and get back to him in time to make the block. Amazing.

That's pretty incredible. Look at where AD is at the start of the play and where he ends up to make that key block. The runner took the ball and ran a straight line to the end zone at full speed...I don't know how AD was able to go the other way turn around and get back to him in time to make the block. Amazing.
