I was watching a show on waterski jumping once where they have to whip around one side to the other in order to get up a bunch of speed for the jump. Both the skiiers and the commentators consistently mentioned the necessity for a powerful engine / aggressive prop in the boat to keep it at speed when the skiier swings around. Not that smaller boats couldn't do it, but when we are talking about jump distances within a couple % of eachother, every little bit does help. So yeah, the boat can slow.
@JLindenwood Go to LA Night Jam at this place, which is Bennets in Zachary, LA , and you can watch them do it at night. 3 Years in a row for me. Shooting for 4 this year.
The rope length starts at 75 feet and sections are removed one by one as skiers make all 6 buoys in a pass. This one was done with 39.5 feet removed.

i mean don't quote me, but i wouldn't be surprised at all if harder cutting slowed the boat down a little... its on water, not concrete
scott737373 1 year ago
@scott737373 it does, but computerized speed control compensates for it instantaneously keeping the boat speed nearly constant.
