  • I'm all of a sudden hard

  • Agree, studio version better. But this is don't bad!

  • I don't love this song live. I think it's better studio.

  • Incredibly evolved blues sound....Jimmy's improvs are totally edgy....nobody else can come close to this type of off-balance, anarchic interpretation.

  • A little correction-the second half is incredible. But again, in the beginning the guitar is tuning out from scratch and sounds awful.

  • Always been wondering why Jimmy deviates so much from the studio version playing the guitar, and always to the worse. The second half of this version is actually ok but the beginning is blurred so bad.

  • I agree with what has been said, i was at this concert in 1979, although it sounded out of this fucking world, it did sound as if there was somehing missing. Early Led Zeppelin before Jimmy got on to the heavy gear were sensational.

  • @vladimir1341 I agree as well. Even an amateur guitarist as myself can physically see in the beginning of the video that his strap needs to be raised, he can barely access the bottom of the neck to hit the high notes (that apparently we're missing here!) Definitely missed the mark in this particular version although this is one if not THE most incredible songs Led offers.

I think any good intermediate guitarist could probably cover this track better than Page has done here.

  • @lambertech This song is not about a "perfect cover" it's about playing your emotions through the guitar, exactly how Jimmy loved to do oh so much.

  • This is Sex - great

  • Taking in mind just the studio version of this song, this song can be very different (even disapointing), but i think that all those changes were just a way to keep the song alive. Think of it, ten years playing the same notes must be boring.

    Pure class BTW.

  • When I started listening to this video, at the beginning where Page is soloing, I thought this was a St. Sanders parody video, that's how bad Page's playing is here. Sorry, I love Jimmy, but this isn't one of his best.

  • Have any you people heard the 1973 live version of this song, It Totally Blows Heroined out Jimmy Away. A little Schechy ITurned it off!

  • I think the Heroin got Page cuz this Sucks!!! I don't know wats happening to him. Take me to the Beck Show!

  • @zabbott51 Wtf? This is amazing. Maybe a little sketchy on Page's part but that's what makes it that much better.

  • very sexy song!

  • this is an amazing song but this performance fucking sucks, look up the 1973 Madison Square Garden performance

  • This song screams out SEX!!!

  • when i watch this it makes me wonder how zep woulda sounded in the 80,s if they kept going! cause they were starting to sound different live, page started using a strat on songs like IN THE EVENING, plant had to change his vocal style cause of the throat operation he had in the late 70,s, and JPJ starting experementing with different styles of piano like he did on IN THRU THE OUTDOOR, and he started using the early synthezisers! i think they woulda been great! what a musically diverse band! ZEP!

  • @ozzyhead73 I've never thought about that, but man you're so right... I read that Bonham told Jimmy he wanted to return to the "heavy" sound, as before in thru the outdoor, with strong riffs and stuff. Now imagine how it would have come out with all these influences... My god, life isn't f*ckin fair

  • Tirate un paso

  • if i had 3 wishes, i would wish to be jimmy page. 3 times.

  • jimmy sucks yet his playing is still one of the most beautiful things i've heard, jimmy proves that you don't have to play perfectly you just have to play tastefully...

  • I love Stairway but its not even close to this song...

  • @5150OU81219

I love this song but its not even close to the TSRTS version.

  • This is music

  • This song gives me the chills

  • you can so hear "Tea for One" in that solo. I love that Jimmy did that

  • I made a hole in my pants to listen comfortably to this song.

  • isaw him live 3 times its life changing in his hands the guitarbecomes alive if you listen hard you can hear it talk pay homage3 to the king lets see rap do this

  • Your forgot that they didn't write this song

  • 5 idiots here

  • Uno de los mejores Blues Ingleses de todos los tiempos, LED ZEPPELIN definitivamente el mejor!!!!

  • one great blues tune zeppelin rules

  • ya know i don't care if they wrote this song or not, they still perform it better than any other band in the world

  • TE AMO

  • El blues mas grande la historia! Grande Jimmy!

  • you know, the other day I was listening to this song and said to myself "self, how can any song be better written and performed then this one"? I concluded that it CAN'T! Therefore, I concluded that this simply is the best song of all-time, BAR NONE!!

  • ZEP N WEED IS ALL I NEED O YEA ! XP

  • They did a hell of a job with it but they didn't write it.Sorry for the buzz kill.

  • @OGEECHEEMAN Think you'll find they did actually - they did do a lot of blues standards, but I'm reasonably sure this is their own. Not that it matters it's an improvisational song that they did differently every time they played it - this is one of the best.

  • @OGEECHEEMAN your wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @OGEECHEEMAN Yes they did

  • @WithoutADoubtxo It's called plagerism because they literally took other artists songs, and put their names on it. Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, White Summer, How Many More Times, The Lemon Song, and Whole Lotta Love spring to mind.

  • @PBANDSNOW if thats the way you look at it then i guess you listen to?..something better than the led???..?? could there be??....??

  • @LouisReeds No, I listen to Led Zeppelin, I'm just not In denial about what they are. I treat my musicians as gods, but that doesn't mean I going to pretend what happened never happened.

  • @cybercop your so right this sounds nothing like the song.

  • Ive come to a conclusion and this is for fellow guitar players.Theres no point in learning led zep songs note for note because from what ive seen they always improvise the song when they play it so thats just what im gonna do improvise the solos or other parts of their songs.

  • I would love to perform sweet intercourse, to the sounds of this song..

  • some striptease to this?

  • @scybil this ain't a song about strip-tease idiot.it's very deep love song

  • @182bastard

lol I don't care what you think :)

  • @scybil fair answer

  • @182bastard

    ;) nice.

  • ah Knebworth 1979... tried to climb the fence, mate cut his finger, went into first-aid compound and were driven into concert FREE in the back of an ambulance...ah them were the days

  • One of the reasons why i pick up my guitar everyday .......

  • Althroug Jimmy was fucked up beacause of heroin he still plays awesome. Damn this song is a masterpiece. Best Led Zeppelin song ever.

  • this is so sexy

  • I'll second that!!

  • I like Zeppelin but most of the people do not know that they copied practically every single song from American southern blues musicians.....it's called Pliagarism, and they did it more than any other band I know of...... Zep was my all time farvorite until I found out that they did. I lost a lot of respect for them when I found out, not too much, they still created an original sound...... they had a style all their own for sure, but the songs are totally copied!

  • @324bevege Plagiarism? Sorry, but no. They did not copy. They riffed upon many already existing songs, but made them totally their own. Sure, perhaps they began as a type of cover band, but their songs were so DIFFERENT from the songs they were copying that it could hardly be called plagiarism, nor could it hardly be called covering.

  • @jessalessa In terms of legal regulations many LZ songs were plagiarisms (Dazed and Confused, Whole Lotta Love to tell the most famous). In terms of art - they took these songs on completely different level. But every case is different - take Whole Lotta Love - it is not very similar to Willie Dixon's You Need Love, but he sued them to the court and won. But Percy's vocal is exactly what Steve Marriot sang in Dixon's song cover (check Small Faces - You Need Love).

  • @324bevege Then you may as well prepare to have the base of everything you like shaken. Every band does this. There is no way not to. Elvis Presley? King of Rock and Roll? Only had a handful of original songs. Some were EXACT covers of southern blues musicians with no credit. George Thorogood, Eric Clapton, Yardbirds, Aerosmith, AC/DC, they all do it. It's not plagiarism, it's respect.

  • i love zeppelin but they sound pretty shitty here xp. love zeppelin!!

  • Saw 3 tours ... maybe 4... last was '77... The final tour... So much good music...

  • Is this one of those "Jimmy Page Shreds" vids?

  • I'm not sure it's only heroin.... he broke his finger at the beginning of '75 and didn't stop touring.... same thing with Robert Plant; beginning of voice problems in '72 and didn't stop touring....result: voice operation(s) and a different voice afterwards...

  • BlogasisG ahhahahahahaaah!!!!

  • This song is called Since I've been loving tea for one.

  • 25

  • that was a ''Tea for one'' and ''Since i ve been loving you'' mix performance in the guitar

  • this sounds great, its not a performance of the studio version, but an evolving take on the same material. this has a lot in common with Tea For One which seems to me to be LZ looking back upon their own work through more mature eyes. the thing with the blues is, depending on your mood that day it sounds completely different, and this captures that. fantastic. hes in time, in key ( mostly some dissonance, seems intentional) and in tune, just reflecting upon the song differently

  • its ok everyone in the crowd enjoyed it cuz they were all on drugs to :) lol 70s are funny

  • best zeppelin song ever written PERIOD

  • @wbcjohnlennon Lots of their songs were master pieces, you can't say one song is the best... you have to say Led Zeppelin is the best

  • @wbcjohnlennon No, no ,noooooo Rainsong and Kashmir. Maybe Over the Hills and Far away.

  • @wbcjohnlennon Two words my fine friend. Rain Song.

  • @wbcjohnlennon I feel that way when hearing this tune too... at least until I hear another Zep song, then I think it about that one too! Ha! BUT- fuck this is a fuckin jam jesus fuckin christ they are gods.

  • @wbcjohnlennon Didn't "write it" it had been a blues classic for many years before Zep did it...and of course...did it better than anyone could of imagined

  • This was a terrible performance

  • @oreldm Get high on heroin and try to play like that.

  • Like watching your kid strike out...but you still love him !

  • It IS in C minor which is relative to Eb major. The reason there IS a distinct tonal difference between ALL minor and major chords is that the third of a minor chord is a step and a half from the root whereas the third of a major chord is two steps from the root. This gives minor chords their sad sound and major chords their happy sound. While all major keys share the same chords with their relative minor counterparts, they are distinct in their tonality. C minor is C minor, Eb maj is Eb maj.

  • This is the version on the bootleg of Knebworth I had in High School. Page is trying to break the tonal barriers. Flawed and superb.

  • Jimmy Page once said in an interview that Zeppelin only repeated themselves once, when they did Tea For One. He said it was a repeat of SIBLY (this song). And here, Jimmy definitely puts elements of "Tea" in to his solo. Both songs are in C minor. I kinda like this version. But to me, there has never been a better guitar solo than Jimmy's solo on the original LZIII cut of this song. That one is jaw-dropping. Never a better solo from anyone - before or since.

  • @smilinstevie88 Why is it C minor and not Eb major or is it just preference because they're in essence the same thing

  • @onelongwordable - I'm not a spectacular guitarist like Page by any means, but I"m a reasonably good rhythm player (for about 25 years). And I can't read music. But there is a distinct tonal difference between C minor & Eb major (which is true of all minor chords). I'm pretty sure that this in C minor. But I would definitely welcome any comments from more accomplished players who can tell me for certain if I'm right or wrong about that.. Thanks for asking! ( :

  • @smilinstevie88 well, let's look at the chords. Cm is the I, fm is the iV etc... must be key of Cm the relative minor of Eb

  • @smilinstevie88 I learned this song and it stays in Cminor more than Eb major, so I would say you're correct! Im like you Im not 100% but thats my educated guess

  • Page is stoned, Plant is fucked up, for the first time Jones is leading the song and yet.... it's one of the best things i've heard.... these legends have a quality even at their worst days

  • @413Kristianna IMHO-I cannot for the life of me, 'hear' a better sound by any other group-living or dead, straight of fried. To me, Zep is (was, & always will be) simply the best-on their worst day. I just love em. Love a lot of other music as well, but Zep just does it for me.

  • @zephead184fr Ditto

  • All this talk of Jimmy's Heroin problem and his playing totally misses the point..On this version, he clearly was going for something different from what he had done before. No more guitar hero speed and flash like in 73.. he was going for spartan playing with tons of soul and unusual phrasing and riffs. Is it perfect? NO Did his use of whatever change how he played? Probably, but nonetheless, it is still amazing and in some ways even better than the flashy stuff from early days, just listen!

  • this isnt that bad you can hear his vibrato which is in tune and on the correct note and hes playing in time. heroin does fuck you up but his playing here is fine

  • Great Arrangement but the song was written by Bob Mosley of Moby Grape from GRAPE JAM. They just changed it enough to call it their own copyright wise.It wouldn't be so bad but they did it so often.

  • IT MORE THEN BEST, MORE THEN AMAZING!!!!! ONLI ONE PAGE!!!!

  • @MagaShark yep only one and only for sure.

  • <3

  • somewhere bonhams got a i pad and he's still rockin!!!!!

  • No two "Since I've Been Loving You" songs are ever alike. It's an extremely complex song...only LZ can make it happen...although with some huddles involved.

  • Fucking Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • They are definitly past their prime in this one, but from about 1969-1975 best band in the world no question!!

  • Like a woman who went downhill and is still sexy, and you still love her...

  • Não consigo mensurar a fodosidade dessa versão. PQP

  • trying to write down my feelings on this one... I'd say they both playing for each other

  • jimmy is a genius. everything else is irrelevant.

  • This is one of the best versions of SIBLY. Both Knebworth shows are excellent as were the warm-up shows in Copenhagen. Jimmy sounds great here, he's just going in a different direction with the sound. Fantastic!

  • This is what happens when there is absolutely no resistence to the love energy that is our universe, that is us deep down. Many special thanks to the driver of the guitar delivery van that crashed head on into Mrs. Page's sedan spilling it's load on little Jimi's head.

  • I love this song with the electric piano. Sounds awesome.

  • great Page !! for ever the greatest of all

  • il a quoi comme gratte jimmy? une lespaul?je reconnais pas bien;elle me parait grande!et les deux jimmy, page et hendrix dieux a jamais.....

  • I don't what it is but listening to Knebworth makes me feel genuinely sad.

  • All the dumbasses who say that the 73 version of this song is better you obviously don't know that version was edited like hell there's three different version of that one performance. This performance was fucking brilliant! I actually play guitar and know that Jimmy is playing some real complex blues here.

  • @slashisclearlyjesus you can hear the 73 NY or LA versions on bootlegs, uncut, and they're still pretty good.

  • @slashisclearlyjesus tell them man, his vibrato here is perfect. its guitar players like us that know whats really going on

  • disgusting

  • The song remains the same version from 73 I think is better

  • 4:40, awesome!

  • this is after jimmy page quit his heroin addiction. trust me, as and opiate fiend, your guitar playing is sooo much better when you are smacked out. i play so much better when im on some junk. not sure why, but thats just the way it works.

  • nevermind i was wrong.

  • @stakejone You THINK you play better, who knows your on junk. Jimmy actually quit using heroin in circa 1982-1983.

  • @Thringer09 yeah i know. i fucked up.

  • Comment removed

  • @stakejone on some junk?? lol you wish haha

  • @stakejone you probably just think it does cause you're smacked out of your head

  • this is after jimmy page quit his heroin addiction. trust me, as and opiate fiend, your guitar playing is sooo much better when you are smacked the fuck out. being on heroin, oxys, morphine, or whatever actually makes you a better guitar player. i play so much better when im on some junk. not sure why, but thats just the way it works.

  • @stakejone probably just seems that way!

  • this is my favorite song, and jimmy all drugged up on heroin just makes me sad

  • I prefer Jimmy's more soulful playing (IMO - obviously) in the '73 Madison square performance. Something doesn't seem quite right...

  • This is one of the greatest songs ever. Hanna Montana couldn't dream of doing this if she weren't on heroin u dick.

  • It almost seems Jimmy begs his fingers to do a better job but they can't. Heroin. I've heard better perfomances of this song but bad Zepp gig is still better than anything else so... :-)

  • @zeppelinn stick the herion up your ass it jimmy...i repeat it jimmy..the man who created the sound the style the man les paul made the guitar for.. respect!!! for jimmy page..ps.. thanks jimmy for all you have done....

  • @zeppelinn yea sadly i have to agree, same with the times he played stairway to heaven with jeff beck and eric clapton.

  • @zeppelinn Bonzo ain't long for this world, either. Tragic.

  • @zeppelinn

    100%

So sad to hear the difference.

Best guitar player in the world completely wrecked by drugs.

Still in this video he's barely keeping it together.

Today he cant play and Plant cant sing.

  • @Ddvex What?..becuase he doesn'y play it like your CD???....moron....this is played with feeling!

  • @silvagod

If you like how they play nowadays better, who am I to argue? Its your taste!

Have you really tried listening to some of their latest?

And your right, I think, they cant play like any CD that recorded them live before 1975.

Only the deaf cant tell the difference.

  • @Ddvex What?..becuase he doesn't play it like your CD???....moron....this is played with feeling!

  • @Ddvex In this case I must disagree. Page's technique isn't as good anymore but I really like the way he plays nowadays. Very tasty. Both Page and Plant are deeper into their stuff than ever. Older and wiser. :-)

  • @Ddvex ....really, what Page did b4 a show with his addiction would put you and I in the hospital fighting for our lives......yeah it's a shame he couldn't play to his potential between 76 - 84 but he still knocks the socks off anyone half his age....show him some respect........and today dude he can play amazingly but not like in his prime.....the fkn guy is 67 yrs old.......try listening to him in the last 15 yrs since he went clean

  • @9sshty6

I think you didnt reed what I wrote!

I said: "Best guitar player in the world..."

Nonetheless, for me, its hard to compare his latest playing with his old playing.

  • @zeppelinn true but who would wanna play the same thing live for 10 yrs straight.

  • @zeppelinn

    In your mind, pal.

  • @MrAndersoncouncil Of course. But I guess my mind isn't in that alone. :-)

  • @zeppelinn Never heard this version. I know what you're sayin. Kinda sad. But still fucking magical....

  • @zeppelinn Never heard this version. I know what you're sayin. Kinda sad. But still fucking magical....Good find.

  • @zeppelinn I agree by this time it was no secret his heroin addiction was catching up to him... this version isn't that bad but far from what Jimmy was capable of...

  • @zeppelinn: Couldn't have said it better myself... ;o)

  • @zeppelinn signed with blood! hahaahah

  • wow wow i know robert wasent doing to well on the 77 tour with his vocals but he still did good on the 77 tour but here he came back and is powerful wow and love jimmys longer solo

  • te hing is that this songis good beccause he actually putting ome soul in it but in t.s.r.t.s. he isnt he is just jamming i like hi feelings in this one better =] great job and bonzo and jonsey ad percy are god like in this also=]]]

  • cream of the crop
