Hi, I'm really interested in buying it and have this video and the chip bookmarked.

heya i need help.. i have a wasabi DX installed on my wii the console runs just like normal only i cant run my downloads backups also i cant even get into the x3 reset menu on start up???? any ideas? um from the UK i set my chip to pal ect it should work??

since it reads backups at 3x speed, will it read original games at 6x? like an unmoded wii?

@SieghartzBR Probably, but if you have an external hard drive (250GB will do quite fine), you can install some software to run the games from that to your Wii. WiiFlow even has an "install" method! Running games from USB goes even faster than 6X. Just a quick piece of info. ;D

@iamacrazylocoman. It lets you play backed up copies of your Wii games. PAL is the television standard used in the UK, Europe & Australia (the same wasy NTSC is used in US & Japan)

i modded my wii its awesome but be aware to stickk your chip down with tape otherwise the wii will freeze in gameplay

no it doesnt but i costs like 1£ which is $1.50

well i foud 1 that comes with the ribbon cable and an insulation sticker that fits the chip and secures it properly. i just need to grab a triwing screwdriver from another site for $4. thx for all the info.

sooooo..., could you just burn a wii iso to a dvd-r rewritable disc and then just insert it in to the wii and start playing? or are there other neccesary steps required such as burning extra firmware to the disc etc. cheers

yep thats it just burn like you would any other iso. you can use a dvd+ r just make sure that you change the booktype to - with whatever burning software you use (i like ether nero or imageburn) i would suggest not using a rewritable disc

Yeah, you can still update it or play online nothing will happen.

Just dont do updates from games from an other region and you will be fine.

If you download punch out PAL version then you can update it, but if it from an other region then dont do it.

well, I just finish installing the wasabi dx right now, and is great, well I have a problem with 1 backup disc but i believe is because the brand of the disc, the 3 backup disk I just tested were verbatim, and the one that does not work is maxell, thx again for the review.

When you burn your backup of the original Wii game, do you burn it onto 8cm mini-dvd's? and are they double layer mini dvd's or just a regular mini dvd?

Neither, they are full size DVD-R's. For games like Brawl, use double-layer.

you idoit the error reading disk means your putting the disk in uoside down.

I bought one and put it in today. It's working just as advertised. I upgraded with the DVD download on their website and that went smoothly.

I think normal is 6x. The difference is noticeable, but I'm too excited to care lol

Well, i´ve just intalled it... its not working for now, even with original games! (got message error...¨error reading the disc, please ejet it, restart the wii and blablablabla¨).

Seems that its necessary to upgrade the firmware... i will do it the next week and tell you the result!

Did you plug in the cable enough?

Does the disk stop spinning when you put it in? What speed did you burn the disks at? are they DVD-R ?

there's so many possibilities what the problem might be.

Not bad vid ,i just installed my dx and did follow your video,but i must say if you dont mind that you could show peeps how to stick the chip down maybe with some double sided pads & and also stick some electric tape over the chip to stop shorts.

You should probably put some sort of insulation on the chip (like electrical tape or something else). It could damage your Wii or modchip if you don't.

near the end, when you're testing it out, the audio becomes faded and harder to ear from a simple laptop speaker. You must have recorded audio just from the camera and as it's farther away the audio goes to the background aswell. Try to get a microphone and/or edit audio levels in the finished product, with that in mind, your video would be perfect
