Unlike normal citizens, cops, when they are wrong, don't deal well with learning this amazing new fact. I've learned to quote case law showing that the cop is wrong and then ask if they own any expensive property that I can own after suing them for false arrest. Works every time.

Carrying a concealed weapon is a felony (CCW) in Michigan. A CPL holder or Concealed Pistol Licensee can carry concealed or open (and a non-CPL holder may carry open) where permitted. Even the Jackson Police don't know the difference. Laughable! And frightening, these douchebags need remedial training immediately.

I live in metro Detroit, hold a CPL and open carry. So far so good, mostly the public seems curious, but I've not had an encounter with the police like this.

Personally I think you talk to the cop too much. The first words out of my mouth would have been "Am I free to leave?" If the answer was "No." I would have invoked miranda and wouldn't have said another word. If the police chose to arrest me I'd have owned the city.

All that said, in Colorado we are required to present our CHP upon demand (regardless of OC or CC ) so I would have turned over the permit the first time he asked.

She was chasing one suspect and he darted into the road when the drunk blew the stop sign and hit them both. They are both damn lucky to be alive. I guess she was rehabing for like 3 months before they let her come back.

I broke my arm several years back and put on some weight... and it took a long time to get it back off.... So I give her kudos for coming back to the force. You can not sue them criminal but you can sue them in civil court. All most always they never change their ways till you hit them in the pocket book period. As for having nothing to stand in their way, I own several firearms for on thing. A second thing police are not required by law to protect you at all. They could see you getting hurt and are not required to do anything. Police are minuets away when seconds count. Read a case WARREN vs. D.C. it is one of many cases that support this.
