Hmm. You guys are mostly right. Yithians are the least dangerous of the Lovecraft creatures. They are a scientist race, who study and write. They fight the Polyps in a war, but they never intentionally harm humans. They only occasionally possess them to learn about them.
If anyone wants to find out more about these creatures, read "The Shadow Out Of Time", by H.P Lovecraft.
I dunno. I honestly think that Lovecraft has two 'good' races, or at least, two races that are not outright dangerous to humanity.
Yithians, yes, although I see them less as scientists, and more historians; and the Elder Things. Of course, from a first perspective, the Elder Things seemed dangerous, but if you think about, you'd be pretty pissed too if some ugly-ass thing that has only four appendages dug up your graves, and stole your species corpses. They're the more scientific race.
They are benign and not evil, but are in some ways above human morality. that said they find no qualms in removing people from thier own time and replacing them in a state of confusion and distress. They also will replace the minds of entire races to preserve themseleve, so swings and roundabouts really.
@IsilHelyanwe On top of only possessing humans, the Yith were pretty gracious to the displaced human minds, allowing them to roam their city at will in their temporary Yith bodies and allowing them to read stuff from their libraries.
THe only truly dickish thing the Yithians did was swap minds with a race of beetle people, and leaving the Beetle folk in their bodies to get slaughtered by flying Polyps.
The Great Race are completely selfish, but not entirely antagonist aliens. Remember that HPL's stories document that they transfered their rightful fate twice (mass swapping their intellects with races across space and time to avoid destruction), damning two separate races to horrible doom.
Cthulhu is an octopus-headed dragon-looking extradimensional entity entombed in the city of R'lyeh somewhere in the Pacific and worshipped by swarthy characters from the short fiction of H.P. Lovecraft.
Yithians are indifferent towards humanity, except as a curiousity which they research through time-travelling body-swapping.
I think they're neutral... sort of. Their ultimate goal is to reach supreme knowledge by transferring their spirits in other bodies through time and space.
the Great Race of Yith couldn't care less about humanity. they live(not lived) in the earth's past and some even come forth out of time to collect information on us. they don't seek to destroy humanity but don't count on them to help either....they are quite safe living in the distant past.
That's not Cthulhu! Cthulhu is fat and green, and more human-octopus looking. This is just a fucking shrimp!
(Don't mess with the Old Ones. We'll be doomed. They almost killed me once. THAT kind of magic is not for us humans. IT'S A VERY BAD IDEA! IT'S DANGEROUS AS FUCK!)
Fool what do u know of the old one's?? Cthulhu has taken the imagination of all humans. No one man has the same depiction of the Great Kraken Beast! Sumerian Lore never explained the features of Cthulhu only that he was Great and Disgusting. He is the dreaming destroyer! Mr. Lovecraft's notion of cthulhu is popular but it conflicts at times. IA BELAL DUMA KPICENSIO!
you must have never read lovecraft then, because he went so far as to give the exact dimensions of things. He describes Cthulhu twice in the original story: once from a bas-relief, and second when he actually shows up. In person, Cthulhu is a much more elastic entity, but he DOES have a definate form, just like most of lovecraft's monsters (the polyps, shoggoths, and Ghatanothoa aren't fixed, but even then he described them... which is quite a feat).
true true. I myself serve Azathoth, the blind idiot god, but only because he(it) is the strongest of the old ones(ancient ones),which I feel a lot safer around. never the less, your point is valid, and I respect your take on things.

Except the Yithians are entirely apathetic about enslaving entire races in a pinch. Which is pretty darn dangerous if anything ever threatened them.

In the Cthulhu Mythos, Yithians do use humans sometimes, but they are relatively benevolent, at least compared to most Mythos entities.

"ia ia Cthulhu ftagn" is just a mythos quote, people always say it when anyone brings up the topic of Mythos.
The puppet is not a shrimp, it is a Yithian from books by the same author (Lovecraft). Cthulhu isn't his only creation you know :p

a; lovecraft did not have an idea of what cthulhu looked like, he actually only gave his creatures, little to none descriptions.
b; he invented most of these gods, except for Dagan also none as dagon, and some others.

@JL666 do you have ANY idea what your talking about?
you do realise Cthulhu is a completely fictional character invented by Lovecraft and is in no way anything to do with the Kraken or Sumerian lore.
Pretty much every word in that sentence is completely incorrect.
