If it were the size of 20 double-decker buses, assuming you mean their length as the comet's diameter and assuming a generous average length of ~15 meters, that would give us a diameter of ~300 meters. The comet appears to be significantly larger than that, but yes, 3 to 4 km is small as comets go.
I realize it is no threat. That's what this video is about. Even if Elenin were the largest comet ever discovered, it would still pose no threat to our planet.

It's true that there is no "hard data" on Elenin's mass, simply because it is too small to get a clear measurement at the distances involved. We can, however, compare what we see with other comets at similar distances, which were later observed more closely. Hence, the estimated size of the nucleus is <5 km. This isn't an assumption; it's based on what we can see.
Regarding composition, spectrometry has shown results consistent with other comets. Again, this has been observed.
There is near a 100% chance that a cosmic catastrophe will befall Earth at some point in the future. Ultimately, an expanding Sun will likely burn this world to a cinder in a few billion years. The odds of any particular grand catastrophe being witnessed by any one species, however, let alone any one generation of a species, are vanishingly small.

Data on Comet Elenin almost exclusively comes from sources outside of NASA. JPL merely compiles their ephemeris based on multiple observatory and amateur reports filed with the Minor Planet Center.
Google Sky has blank areas because of stitching errors. It's not real-time. You can get the "missing" data on the photo plate scans, from other programs that use different sources, or from just looking up.

Yes, I have read Mr. Elenin's article, and a 200,000 km coma for a comet is completely normal. The coma of Comet Holmes in 2007 was ~1 million km, as was Hale-Bopp in 1999 well after its close approach.

USGS earthquakes are recorded by computer, often at monitoring stations USGS has no control over (similar to JPL compiling observations from various observatories). When a quake happens, it is recorded, and what you get is what you see. Sometimes the computers screw up, and a geologist will manually revise a magnitude based on the seismograph. If they actually changed magnitudes deceptively, any number of recording stations would notice.
ps 3 6.0 earthquakes hit FukUshima this week ....and Rice Futures Trading had to be halted in Tokyo due to radiation contamination 2 nd time in a month.........have you found Mercury yet per chance?

For example, if you think comets are "bad," then you need to produce records of comet approaches and show correlation with some otherwise unexplainable uptick in "bad" things happening. That's a monumental task in itself, because there are nearly always multiple comets in our vicinity. But if you somehow accomplish that, then you also need a plausible mechanism by which the evil comet(s) can be shown causal in specific instances.
I watched "the 2nd vid on astrolpatriots page," and both, in playlist and uploads, are about doomsayers' social dysfunctions with terral03. Maybe you'd care to just summarize your position (preferably with something more substantive than "it's too slow to be a comet").

I never called Fukushima "safe." What I've said is that quakes aren't unusual. An elevated M4 to M6 density is to be expected in the wake of an M8 or M9, sometimes for months or years. Japan as a whole will see about 1,500 quakes per year, and about 30 of these can be expected to exceed M5.0, on average. There's an M6.0+ quake somewhere every 2 to 3 days. Yes, it's normal.

The radiation might be a problem in that region for years, yes.
Earthquakes are normal, and we average 1 M8.0 or greater quake per year. That's an average, so sometimes there will be more (e.g. 4 in 2007), and sometimes there won't be any (e.g. 0 in 2008).
Asteroids are normal. There are millions estimated to reside in the Asteroid Belt, and we've collected data on hundreds of thousands of individual objects.
I don't think you're looking for truth, and I do think you should calm down.

If it were the size of 20 double-decker buses, assuming you mean their length as the comet's diameter and assuming a generous average length of ~15 meters, that would give us a diameter of ~300 meters. The comet appears to be significantly larger than that, but yes, 3 to 4 km is small as comets go.
I realize it is no threat. That's what this video is about. Even if Elenin were the largest comet ever discovered, it would still pose no threat to our planet.

It's true that there is no "hard data" on Elenin's mass, simply because it is too small to get a clear measurement at the distances involved. We can, however, compare what we see with other comets at similar distances, which were later observed more closely. Hence, the estimated size of the nucleus is <5 km. This isn't an assumption; it's based on what we can see.
Regarding composition, spectrometry has shown results consistent with other comets. Again, this has been observed.

What is speculative? The things you attribute to "assumptions" are, in fact, observations.
Data on Comet Elenin almost exclusively comes from sources outside of NASA. JPL merely compiles their ephemeris based on multiple observatory and amateur reports filed with the Minor Planet Center.
Google Sky has blank areas because of stitching errors. It's not real-time. You can get the "missing" data on the photo plate scans, from other programs that use different sources, or from just looking up.

I'm not sure what you're basing that conclusion on, because physics and math have proved pretty damn useful in studying space. We can land probes on moons that we can't even see with the naked eye using the same principles that govern comet trajectories.

It's a hypothesis to explain the trajectories of some comets, and even if it exists it will bear no resemblance to "Nibiru," as it must reside in a huge orbit ~15,000 AU away.
Alternatively, you might be referring to IRAS objects from the 1980s, none of which proved to be "Nibiru," either.

USGS earthquakes are recorded by computer, often at monitoring stations USGS has no control over (similar to JPL compiling observations from various observatories). When a quake happens, it is recorded, and what you get is what you see. Sometimes the computers screw up, and a geologist will manually revise a magnitude based on the seismograph. If they actually changed magnitudes deceptively, any number of recording stations would notice.

That's a monumental task in itself, because there are nearly always multiple comets in our vicinity. But if you somehow accomplish that, then you also need a plausible mechanism by which the evil comet(s) can be shown causal in specific instances.
Same goes for so-called "alignments."

The Maya could predict eclipses, but there's no evidence they did so over 1000s of years. The didn't even account for leap years, having an error rate of 1 day per 4 years. Ancient cultures were skilled in astronomy to varying degrees, but none had the ability to explain what a comet is. Mundane things (e.g. Sun, Moon, stars) were often considered ominous before anyone knew what they were. Can you name name a single comet out of 4,000+ known ones that has harmed our planet?

I really would like to believe that nothing is going to happen but how can you ignore these facts.
1. The first alignment recorded was the 27th of February 2010.
What happened on this date? Huge devastating earthquake hit Chile
2. second alignment March 11-15, An earthquake and Tsunami hit Japan
Now you seem to be good with numbers so calculate this. what are the odds of a earthquake of this magnitude and destruction(over 8 magnitude) and factor in a comet alignment with the sun.

By what mechanism can an "alignment" with a <5km object at respective distances of 6 AU and 2 AU cause an earthquake? It can no more cause a quake than you can.
Also, these "alignments" are all identified by Internet doomsayers who look at 2D charts and forget that space isn't 2D. Everything else aside, Elenin was never "aligned" with us on those dates.

I said "months to years" on the aftershocks, Georgie, and I never said a word about cleaning up radiation (only that it would be a problem for years). How can we exchange ideas when you don't even pay attention to what I've said? Also it wasn't the earthquake that damaged the Fukashima reactors -- it was the tsunami. I never called Fukushima "safe." What I've said is that quakes aren't unusual. An elevated M4 to M6 density is to be expected in the wake of an M8 or M9, sometimes for months or years. Japan as a whole will see about 1,500 quakes per year, and about 30 of these can be expected to exceed M5.0, on average. There's an M6.0+ quake somewhere every 2 to 3 days. Yes, it's normal.

I looked into this and see nothing of interest, this planet has been here a long time with many cycles of events that re-peat, and it shall continue on, now 2014 looks like a close call, but there was never any guarantee of nothing, human nature is very strange thing though. I'm planning on building a new house with rammed earth, and timber frame, all materials will come my land, and my labor that's how worried I am. Good luck.

The radiation might be a problem in that region for years, yes.
Earthquakes are normal, and we average 1 M8.0 or greater quake per year. That's an average, so sometimes there will be more (e.g. 4 in 2007), and sometimes there won't be any (e.g. 0 in 2008).
Asteroids are normal. There are millions estimated to reside in the Asteroid Belt, and we've collected data on hundreds of thousands of individual objects.
I don't think you're looking for truth, and I do think you should calm down.

Threatening comet/asteroid strikes happen, but on huge time scales (thousands to Myr). None are currently a danger to Earth.
~50 to 70 volcanoes per year, weather extremes punctuating averages....

Ring of Fire is the most active tectonic region in the world.

The NASA HEO memo is re: personal preparedness, and it is not an exercise. Maybe it was prompted by the EH mandate. I don't know. We know that Elenin is a comet, that it won't come anywhere near Earth, and it is absolutely no danger to Earth. That pretty much has the bases covered, I think. Details like how bright it will be, how big the coma will get, and whether it will fall apart near the Sun -- these are unknowns that have no bearing on anything, apart from what we will ultimately observe.

Finally something worth watching when I see the name Elenin in a youtube title. It's just a great shame you won't be able to inform the illinformed cranks; becuase aparantly wild specualtion, internet rumor, a sub-amature / basic-at-best-scientific knowledge and an impressive ability to ignore centurys of cosmological information make for a more solid theory base.
