  • This is so fitting for me at the minute, i've been about 5 years away from my beloved Scotland now, missed it terribly and have been striving to get back for a long time, yesterday i signed the lease on a lovely house, i'm finally getting back home :-)

  • @xanashan great stuff! :) i lived abroad for 2 years & i just had to come back home to my beautiful country. its the only place you cant ever leave. i will now be living in my beloved Scotland for the rest of my life & i could not be more proud to be Scottish. Alba gu brath my friend!

  • 54000 views and no dislikes has finally restored my faith in YouTubers

  • I'm not Scottish or Irish but this song perfectly captures my innermost feelings regarding the US state that I consider home, Tennessee.

  • i love this song. My family goes back centuries being Scottish and although the terrible weather, i love this country more than you would think. It reminds me of my celtic and Gallic (that's Gallic pronounced with an A like Apple, because it's the Scottish one not Irish) heritage and i would just love to be able to play tis on my clarsach ( a small Scottish harp) because it is one of our best national known songs( at least i think everyone has at least heard it, if not knowing it well)!! xxxx <3

  • Nice pics. and the song...whew!

  • this was the song played at my good friends funeral, the whole place basically burst into tears. yes we are scottish. such a great song.

  • Brought a lump to my throat too, creamthe1st. I saw a video of him telling how he wrote this on a beach somewhere as, i think, he felt a bit homesick. Lovely melody, great voice, true sentiments. Well deserving of the Order of The British Empire. Elizabeth II loves Scotland too!!

  • I agree with ScottishArtFan. The song, is somewhat maudlin. Yet it recalls the heart of the rolling stone, memories of friends left behind, the bonds with whom we share current times. A beautiful song that takes to Scotland, or any homeland throughout the world, to heaven that lies beyond the earthly home :)

  • Congratulations Dougie on your OBE

  • Scotland Forever!!! Courage!

  • Where is this place he speaks so highly of?

  • @MrBigMac201195 :) its Scotland,-Caledonia is the Latin name given by the Romans to the land in today's Scotland north of their province of Britannia, beyond the frontier of their empire. Modern use is as a romantic or poetic name for Scotland as a whole.... wikipedia ftw ;)

  • @EzioFirenzAuditoreda Wikipedia at the highest order :) Thanks.

  • Top song, Top video, makes me proud to be scots!

  • I'm Italian, but after living in Scotland for a couple of years I've started feeling more at home there than Italy. Home is where your heart stands, and now mine is in Scotland.
