Check out this video from a scot living in canada away from family and having lost her mother, her only living parent 4 mos ago. Type in: caledonia/rhythm of my heart
I went to Scotland last year. It was freezing and rained non-stop. The only food was haggis, deep fried Mars Bars and shortbread & everyone is fat. All the men are transvestites & the women look like men. I couldn't understand a word anyone said & everyone had false teeth. Most of Scotland is sparsely habited due to the midge plague. Most children have MS due to the appalling weather & the oldest person is 50-years-old. I couldn't sleep due to the 24-hour-a-day bagpipe playing. Avoid.
This is so fitting for me at the minute, i've been about 5 years away from my beloved Scotland now, missed it terribly and have been striving to get back for a long time, yesterday i signed the lease on a lovely house, i'm finally getting back home :-)
@xanashan great stuff! :) i lived abroad for 2 years & i just had to come back home to my beautiful country. its the only place you cant ever leave. i will now be living in my beloved Scotland for the rest of my life & i could not be more proud to be Scottish. Alba gu brath my friend!
i love this song. My family goes back centuries being Scottish and although the terrible weather, i love this country more than you would think. It reminds me of my celtic and Gallic (that's Gallic pronounced with an A like Apple, because it's the Scottish one not Irish) heritage and i would just love to be able to play tis on my clarsach ( a small Scottish harp) because it is one of our best national known songs( at least i think everyone has at least heard it, if not knowing it well)!! xxxx <3
Brought a lump to my throat too, creamthe1st. I saw a video of him telling how he wrote this on a beach somewhere as, i think, he felt a bit homesick. Lovely melody, great voice, true sentiments. Well deserving of the Order of The British Empire. Elizabeth II loves Scotland too!!
I agree with ScottishArtFan. The song, is somewhat maudlin. Yet it recalls the heart of the rolling stone, memories of friends left behind, the bonds with whom we share current times. A beautiful song that takes to Scotland, or any homeland throughout the world, to heaven that lies beyond the earthly home :)
@MrBigMac201195 :) its Scotland,-Caledonia is the Latin name given by the Romans to the land in today's Scotland north of their province of Britannia, beyond the frontier of their empire. Modern use is as a romantic or poetic name for Scotland as a whole.... wikipedia ftw ;)
I'm Italian, but after living in Scotland for a couple of years I've started feeling more at home there than Italy. Home is where your heart stands, and now mine is in Scotland.
i love when celtic thunder sings this song, oh it just makes you wish you where with them on the shore , and they are all just great...i will see them tonight.on tv. i love these guys so much..i have all there cd's and dvd's. oh what a great group.
I heard this song for the first time last summer when i traveled to Scotland, and I only had to hear it once for me to realize how beautiful it was, and i recently remembered it and looked it up. makes my memories of scotland that much more special.
I love Scotland so much and always have. This song says it all in words that I could never find!! Caledonia is much more than a song, it is a soul trip.
kaay i cant help but to comment again, this song is super beautiful, as much as I love Canada, id love to live in Scotland, its super beautiful there :)
i am scottish, but i live in germany at the moment and this song just makes me want to pack up and go home. its funny how it makes u forget all the crap weather there when u see it displayed in such beauty as those photos
One does not have to be a Celt or Scottish to be moved by this truly Beautiful and Haunting Song. Anyone who has a passion and love for their Homeland will be touched by it. Beautiful images of my Beloved Alba.

I'm not Scottish or Irish but this song perfectly captures my innermost feelings regarding the US state that I consider home, Tennessee.
