Wow, I'd forgotten about that great cassette that I wore out - White City is a classic from Townshend. Roger Daltry's McVicar is another powerful soundtrack - have you heard it?
@ato71 Well I favourited too and gave it a big thumbs up. It's great to see in detail what Pino was doing on this track. I just wish someone would do something similar of equal quality to display what Phillips is doing on the drums and what Gilmour is doing on guitar. There are any number of virtuoso performances that went into the making of this song. I saw Deep End live at the Brixton Academy in 1985, it was an amazing gig.
wow amazing! do you learn all of your songs by ear or do you get transcriptions? just curious cause i'm a new bassist and would love to (try and) learn some pino!
Absolutely fabulous man. This has been my favorite song for the longest time. I just stumbled on your treasure trove of videos and you sir, are truly blessed. Please continue these as they are wonderful and I cant wait for the next ones!
I've heard good things about the MXR M288 Octave pedal. Supposedly combines the best features of the OC-2 and 3 with some extra features and better tracking.
@humphryse Don't do that man...remember the unusual embellishments that Victor Wooten can coax from a fretted 4-string - it takes time and a lot of persistence, like ato71...hang in there!
@satchelpooch01 Thanks for your words of encouragement dude. I didn't chuck the old bass out. I'm teaching my son now who's 14 and just developing a taste for real music. He's dropping the 'Drum n Bass' for Jaco n Pino. Love and peace.
Pete Townsend is said to have been wondering what to do with that song till Pino came along and nagged him to let him play the bass on it. A masterpiece.
I used to try to play it in the low register, having been too stupid to hear the octaver, aaargh, years of my life wasted.
As an afterthought, if you ever are inclined, would you consider posting the opening riff on another of Townsend's songs from Psychoderelict albumn "Now and Then"?
Simply put, a very polished performance. I really like Pete Townsend's work, especially this very intense song. Never could really appreciate the bass until now. Thanks for posting. (I think you have exceptional taste for selecting this song.)
Eccezionale!!!!
Caro Fabio, come sempre sei troppo gentile.
Thank you. Excellent playing and nice, clear video!

Everytime I think I heard Pino's greatest bass line, I stumble across a video of you playing another bassline by him!

mi sembra che nel video originale pp usasse uno steinberger fretless, sbaglio? great job man!
MassimoPiai 6 months ago

@MassimoPiai, no, è un oscuro figurante!
