  • Thank you. Excellent playing and nice, clear video!

  • Everytime I think I heard Pino's greatest bass line, I stumble across a video of you playing another bassline by him!

  • Wow, I'd forgotten about that great cassette that I wore out - White City is a classic from Townshend. Roger Daltry's McVicar is another powerful soundtrack - have you heard it?

  • 48 (now49) like and 0 dislikes. Not surprised. Nicely done,s sir!

  • mi sembra che nel video originale pp usasse uno steinberger fretless, sbaglio? great job man!

  • @ato71 v=xPRDSZ8bPHU e' pino?

  • @MassimoPiai, no, è un oscuro figurante!

    v=1BkGCkwJCWE

Al minuto 1.00 trovi un Pino dell'epoca!

  • Very nice job there. Pino is no easy task.

  • man, great!!! nothing more to say! ;)

  • Nice!!!! Next best thing to Pino!

  • one of the best videos iv'e seen here on Youtube!

  • @WannabeLyricist, thanx but this seems quite excessive...

  • @ato71 Well I favourited too and gave it a big thumbs up. It's great to see in detail what Pino was doing on this track. I just wish someone would do something similar of equal quality to display what Phillips is doing on the drums and what Gilmour is doing on guitar. There are any number of virtuoso performances that went into the making of this song. I saw Deep End live at the Brixton Academy in 1985, it was an amazing gig.

  • @ato71 It's not excessive; this is an excellent video. You really nailed this one; and your intonation on the fretless is superb.

  • @ato71 hahaha

  • its ironman

  • Wonderful - favourited.

  • Awesome!

  • fantastic tone and playing..

  • nice job! love the bass on that tune!!

kudos to Townsend for using such an innovative bassist.

  • another homerun Ato- great job. you guys that kick butt on fretless without fretlines just KILL me! Excellent intonation my friend- BRAVO!!

  • From one bass player to another ... very nice job! You nailed it.

  • wow amazing! do you learn all of your songs by ear or do you get transcriptions? just curious cause i'm a new bassist and would love to (try and) learn some pino!

  • Absolutely fabulous man. This has been my favorite song for the longest time. I just stumbled on your treasure trove of videos and you sir, are truly blessed. Please continue these as they are wonderful and I cant wait for the next ones!

  • Outstanding work; great technique and intonation. I could listen to this one over and over.

  • Thanks a lot my friend for your apreciation.

    Wonderful cat in your avatar!

  • Another great Pino line played to perfection! You make it look so effortless.

    OC-2 or OC-3?

  • Thanks Manny but it's not so effortlesss: look at the concentration wrinkle between my eyebrows all along the song!

OC-2 but I'm not so satisfied with it...

  • I've heard good things about the MXR M288 Octave pedal. Supposedly combines the best features of the OC-2 and 3 with some extra features and better tracking.

  • Mmh, I'll keep it in mind!

I liked the EBS Octabass too but at the moment I'm not swimming in money so it's not time for new investments ; )

  • wow you play f*ckin awesome

    that's seamless and powerful

  • Awesome song. The whole CD is very nice. Thanks Pete!

  • How do you record your bass? It sounds great!

  • To tell you the truth, I use no particular tricks 'cause it's recorded via the camera mic.

  • Great technique and sound! Wish i could play the line as relaxed as you do.

  • Thanks my friend; actually I wasn't that relaxed (notice the wrinkle between my eyebrows that doesn't appear in other videos!)

  • This is unbelieveably good.

  • godibilissimo...

    Grazie.

  • This is amazing. I'm gonna take my old bass and chuck it out because I can't get anywhere near your style.

  • @humphryse Don't do that man...remember the unusual embellishments that Victor Wooten can coax from a fretted 4-string - it takes time and a lot of persistence, like ato71...hang in there!

  • @satchelpooch01 Thanks for your words of encouragement dude. I didn't chuck the old bass out. I'm teaching my son now who's 14 and just developing a taste for real music. He's dropping the 'Drum n Bass' for Jaco n Pino. Love and peace.

  • Wow. What a treat. Can't stop watching it! Thanks.

  • So you too are a Pino-addict ; )

Many thanks to you, my friend!

  • Pete Townsend is said to have been wondering what to do with that song till Pino came along and nagged him to let him play the bass on it. A masterpiece.

I used to try to play it in the low register, having been too stupid to hear the octaver, aaargh, years of my life wasted.

    Thank you so much!!!

  • Thanks for the apreciation and for the trivia!

  • As an afterthought, if you ever are inclined, would you consider posting the opening riff on another of Townsend's songs from Psychoderelict albumn "Now and Then"?

  • Simply put, a very polished performance. I really like Pete Townsend's work, especially this very intense song. Never could really appreciate the bass until now. Thanks for posting. (I think you have exceptional taste for selecting this song.)

  • You have amazing, subtle technique and great time. Thank you for posting it!

  • Eccezionale!!!!

    BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Caro Fabio, come sempre sei troppo gentile.

    Ciao e grazie.

    Alessio

  • Hi there i hope you are well, great playing, just a thought what octave ped are you using ??Cheers Sean

  • Hi Sean and thanks!

I'm using an old Boss OC2 but I'm thinking about changing it with a EBS Octabass.

  • Great bassline and perfect execution.

  • Thanks mate (well, not actually perfect but I think it gives a good idea).

  • Actually, I haven't heard the original, but you sure were in tune the entire time.

  • hi !

awsome playing. I love fretless basslines

it gives a little extra to every song

how do you find all the songs that pino participated in ?

  • on pino palladino's web site you can find info about that with who and when Pino was playing. Try google ;) Daniel
