wow dude, ur bass guitarist must suck lol if he can't slap. When I auditioned fer my band (KPFTM) it was a requirment ta be able ta slap (evn though we nevr use it cuz it sounds all funky) and hav ta use a pick, and only a pick. We play shock rock, u know, like Marilyn Manson, System of a Down, and kinda like Korn. We mostly got our influence from Marilyn Manson though.
