a Big Fan of large sunny X-tra Wide south sun window seedling starter ,,I bet the square plastic gutter tube with end caps to length of shelves would be reuseable for yrs !-- Bunnies and Gardens ,a perfect combo,my bunnies help also by delightfuly devouring all the trimmings and the pellets work wonders-my water rooted sweet potatoe end sprouts are vineing well,,plenty of slips to root come may !! I might need 2 dehydrators this year !!good old Bunny poo !!

Hi Patti, your videos are simply amazing! Thanks for sharing this video. I just noticed that you only used fluorescent lights, does that mean that this setup is only intended for growing seedlings? So another setup should be used for the vegetative and flowering stages?

Are the lights cool white or are you using a cool and warm mix?

The lights she's using are 5000k.  They're on the blue end of the spectrum and are better for seedlings or vegetative stages.

3000k and lower go from white to red which is better for flowering or fruit.

Very cool potting mixture Patti! Very similar to what I use. Seedlings grow like mad in it. Now all you need is a peacock or two! :)

I love this vid. I am so envious of your indoor garden. Mine failed horribly. I turned off the grow lights, gave myself a week, and then I'll start again. I have a similar set up. last year the neighbours called the cops on me and said I had a grow opp going on in my house. My set up cost me 200.00 canadian which is about the same cost. but I used a metal stand instead of wood.

@earthwayexperience Aquaponics PLUS a food forest - we can feed the world! And I use the term "food forest" as a quiet little protest against the copyright of the term "permaculture." It is ridiculous to pretend a gardening technique that is thousands of years old is a patentable thing, and this knowledge deserves freely shared. But, what we call it matters very little, as long as we can call our neighbors to dinner! lol!

Nice show, there is a lot more planting than I though.

Patti you should get a reverse osmosis water filter for you house let alone your garden. That cuts out a bunch of chlorine , I am not sure about hte floride though but an ounce of prevention is ....
