Actually, yes, it is fully legal. Since we are not using the YMCA trademark, there isnt a copyright infringement. The Photographer's Rights also states:
"Photographing of privately-owned property that is generally open to the public, is permitted unless explicitly prohibited by posted signs."
There were no posted signs, so hence it was legal.

Its open to the public. You can go inside and use there facilities, get a tour, use there vending machines, ect...
Now if you want to use some of there other equipment, you will have to pay a fee.
