I sure hope all the talk of animal abuse during the making of this movie is untrue. Although I really had some issues with some of the animal scenes. Cat going over a cliff in a box, the pug appeared to be almost drowning in the bear cub scene....(I know as a pug owner they don't swim well and will sink like a rock)...

There is no actual acknowledgement of a Humane Society overseeing the treatement of animals at end...but it IS a cute movie. PLEASE DONT LET IT BE TRUE!!!

The director has farm for all animals and he lives together.

Actually bear and dog, cats..etc live in good relation, grow up together,that's why this movie became possible.

It's so amazing that's why he became famous.

He lives together by suited way to treating for each animals..

Actually he lives with all animals as family member.

I really recommend to see Japanese version.

It is more calm and mystic beauty throughout the whole film without such voices, music.

They didn't use a wild bear! its a trained bear that listens to commands with the trainers supervising. I don't think that animals weren't harmed in this film - i think a cat in a river is enough to frighten a cat easily but i find it hard to believe that they killed off 20 cats and 20 dogs if any at all.

Why would the man who had spent his life gathering these animals to make his "kingdom" on a small island on Japan invite a film crew to make a movie on his island about animals adventures and then let them slaughter them all??? That does make sense whatsoever. If you look on the credits there are dozens of animal trainers. Why would they train the animals to be in this film and then kill them off? What a waste of money and time. You would use the same animal as much as possible.

u all do know that they estimate 27 cats died during the making of this film right??? like...THEY killed them. dont get me wrong, i also grew up with this movie and LOVED IT!!! but it was filmed in Japan and then moved over to the US later...its really sad cuz there is animal abuse all in the Japanese version...they had to cut out a lot for the US version cuz of the fact kids were gonna see it...it wasnt really supposed to be for kids in Japan

They didn't run away. They were playing hide and seek. Milo got stuck in a box that was on the river bed and it went down the stream and Otis went to find his friend. I still love this movie no matter how old I am.
