The Canadian Copyright Office requests that companies submit lists of staff with each submission, which includes videogames. Nintendo has submitted their staff lists since 1992, but they haven't highlighted the capacity each member works in. Kazumi Totaka has been credited for the following games:
F-1 Race (GB)
Tetris & Dr. Mario
It's possible his role in these games was not prominent, but it's also possible that the song is hidden away in them.
Ooh great video. I read about this track and decided to google it to see whether I recognized this, and as soon as I clicked this I recognized one of my favorite tracks from Animal Crossing
I remember watching these videos when I was a kid and always hoping that someone would find a new/old and exciting way of finding the famous tune. But alarse, my dreams never came true. (If you don't consider the new version of the gameboy game "X", that is)
For the Frog the Bell Tolls recently received an English fan translation. One of the main characters, "Richard", is the very same Richard from Link's Awakening whose house is full of frogs.
@jrmommy yeah. I was kinda mind blown too. Guess they were still working on the american version but the n64 was done and then just ported it to gamecube. Much like twilight princess on gamecube and wii.
Chugaaconroy has found the secret tune in Pikmin 2 and in Luigi's Mansion, he shows them on the first or second episode of his Let's Plays on the games
@DarkTiger83 He didn't find it, and neither did I when I mentioned the same thing in a video four years ago. You Chugga Conroy fans have a weird "hero worship" thing going on.
Anyone else notice how K.K.'s full name, Totakeke, is similar to Totaka? Just change the a to an e and add "ke" to Totaka, and you've got Totakeke. Very clever.
@smashbrosfan1007 It totally does work on the 3ds! I rediscovered it completely on accident by leaving my game open while answering a phone and I totally remembered that secret!
love everything about this easter egg/secret. nintendo are better than microsoft and sony because they not only create their own hardware, but also their own software and series as a whole. you can tell that there is still a huge amount of passion and love of games at the heart of what the company does, where as competitors are just trying to make as much money as possible. nintendo knocked one out of the park AGAIN at E3 this year, and god am i happy they did.
The one in yoshi story freaked me out as a kid. I thought something was going to pop out at me or the game was going to crash. it was just so... out there.
i remember when i was a kid i was playing yoshi story that song came up it scared the crap out of me it took years for me to work up the courage to play that game again...
The first time i heard it was in yoshi's story. I was eating dinner when i heard the song change suddenly. Me and my bro just stared at the TV like O__o
@Connorkaze26 No... he whistles the theme of Luigi's mansion...... Totaka's song is hidden on the screen with the controls at the very beginning of the game right before you get the vaccum.
Man, I SWEAR I had discovered the song in Pikmin 2 first! Unfortunately it was before I had even known what it was! I had also discovered it in Yoshi's Story before knowing about it, but I'm not sure if I was the first. I hadn't noticed that these two songs were similar, I had just thought that they were simply easter eggs.
theres another one in Animal Crossing City Folk, if you sit on the bus long enough the captain might start whistling it. it may also be in the DS version but im not too sure, i havent played it.
As this theme loops over and over again, everything feels strangely empty, you look outside to see nothing but wast darkness, you feel strangely awake though... Then remember that all reality except you and your house was a dream... Family? Friends? Everyone else? Dead? No, they never existed, as you realize this you want to go back to sleep, even though you know its just a dream, but the eternal silence, and the truth causes you so much horror you would never fall asleep again...
hey!!! i think in luigis mansion i know how to get that song!!!!!! its rather you stay on the pause acreen for a amount of time or stay in the start of the mansion for a amount of time!!!!! glad i could help
In the game boy camera, there is a face that comes up if you press the run button a couple of times , it will repeatedly play the first 6 notes of totakas song. If you want to see it, just type "no blank frames gameboy" on google or youtube
We didn't turn off the console, and I can't remember if we paused it... but we definitely left Wave Race on a silent screen while we started doing our homework... I can't remember exactly how long we were sitting there (4-20 minutes but I cant remember) but the screen went from being silent to playing this creepy song... I now know this from this video as Totakas song... we thought it was very creepy when it happened... God I wish i could remember...
OK this is very creepy, I came across this...but I know for a fact this song is in Wave Race 64... when I first got a N64 for Christmas in 96, Wave Race was the only game I had for 5 months before I got Super Mario and Shadows of the Empire... Here's the only info I have to go on... Me and my friend were playing it when my mom made us turn it off until we finished our homework... (continued)
I remember sitting there on the Yoshi's Story screen waiting for that music, I always thought it was just the end of the loop and never thought anything of it! I appreciate it so much more now!
in animal crossing city folk, while Kapp'n is talking to you on the bus, stop pressing a when he speaks to you, and he'll stop talking and start whistling totakas song
Man, I can't stop laughing at how he always goes "UH" and then the camera angle changes and then he tries to play it in like he never actually had to pause the recording.
It happens so much, he gets really enthusiastic about it!
You can hear Totaka's Song in For the Frog the Bell Tolls by going back to the port town on your 3rd quest & standing next to the shop for 3 minutes & 30 seconds.
Um, please enlighten me. What is so special about... Totaka's song? Doesn't K.K. Slider play it when you request it on Animal Crossing? Please explain!
@FallingStar1999 Well Seeing as its been around for about 15 years and at least 10 years before that... Also watch from 3:13 onward. It makes TONS of sence after that.
@tractorman287 Sorry, but you're lying. Kazumi Totaka had nothing to do with any Wario game other than Virtual Boy Wario Land. You're not going to find the song in a game he didn't work on at all.
thumbs up if you want a remake of Tokata's song in the next Super Smash Bros.

@tractorman287 Sorry, but you're lying. Kazumi Totaka had nothing to do with any Wario game other than Virtual Boy Wario Land. You're not going to find the song in a game he didn't work on at all.
