Well I love this and all but i have the m.202 mixer and don't know how the hell to get sound from it. i'm new and i read the manual and all but it really isn't helping me much.
ima Buy this . Does it Matter What Mixer I Have ? i had the mixtrack and was running off traktor LE without the interface . so what can i do to waste less money ?
@DJGPR2 the mixer is decent, the main fader is a little scratchy sometimes but for a beginner its good. it'll last you a couple years and if you want to change out a better mixer after that you can. I'm not sure if you can upgrade the faders in this one.
this mix is dope! u smashed it! i always had an interest in djing, jus wondering how much did ur set cost and how did you learn...u said it was self taught...but issit like thru vids or frens or experimentation. im considering buying but not sure if i'll be able to jus pick it up myself...thanks
With these turntables is it possible to use them for hardcore and dance music and that?, I dont no shit about this but im thinking off buying some and teaching myself to but i just need to no if you can use them for dance and stuff :)
@harris2836 you can use these tables for whatever vinyl you wanna put on them, or use an mp3 to vinyl program like serato or traktor scratch. usually that type of music people tend to use cds instead of vinyl because of the amount of music they tend to spin, its easier to burn cds instead of finding a ton of vinyl...or like i said use mp3s. but to answer the question - yes, you can use these tables for everything basically.
@achildbyfire So For using my own MP3's and that what will i need to buy? thats good for beginners. Like, Use CDs that i can burn my own mp3s onto and be able to scratch and mix them, id rather do that but im not sure what it is i need to buy =/. Thaaanks duude :)
@harris2836 well you can either buy CDJ's which use CD's to mix/scratch. I've never used one so i dont know much about them. Or you can go vinyl and get an mp3 to vinyl program. they usually come with everything you need; basically just the program, the time coded vinyls you'll use, and the interface to hook them up to your computer. vinyl just seems a lot more hands on because you're actually touching the records and manipulating them, its very fun. but like i said, ive never used cd's though.
Dude, gotta say, your vids are whatitdo. I've been threatening to buy some tables n a mixer for well over 2 years now. Seeing these vids really has really inspired me to make a purchase. Preeshate it holmes, stay up.
This is friggin' TIGHT! Where did you get the vinyl with the nintendo music? That is incredible! I'm picking up my first dj setup soon and that is something I have to get my hands on.
ive got the same turntables..but on some parts on the vinyl i have got a little bit of distortion in my sound. how much weight did you put on your tonearm ?
uh ive had my tables for like 2 years or so now but i dont use them on a daily basis...so i havent been scratching for a really long time i wouldnt say. I think for a beginner its important to understand a little about music and counting beats and bars and measures. if you can do that it will help you as a DJ...also i would just start simple, dont try to copy dj qbert right out of the box, yer gonna be lame at first, theres no way around it. just start simple and build off of that.
i'd highly recommend "hee-haw brayks" by DJ butchwax as it has a huge library sound on one side of it. it has every sound ive ever heard scratched basically compiled on one side...any other break records seem hit and miss as they all have some parts that i could find use for, and some that i cant...although im not all that knowledgeable/skilled at it so im prolly not a whole lot of help. any break record will have something you like and can use. try turntablelab online to preview vinyls first.
i have my turntables mixer hooked up to a little console mixer that you might see in a music studio or something. then that goes into my computer and everything hooked to that comes out of my computer speakers...so thats what i use for speakers. i explain it a little bit in my djlab.3 review video.
yea i have mine hooked up through my computer basically, or i use headphones...you could really get away with using any sound system for any price, it just depends on how much youre looking to spend and if youre going to be doing parties and what not...you could go with some desktop monitors or go with some big wattage amps and speakers...its whatever youre going to be using them for, i just use mine for fun so my desktop speakers are good enough.
i just check ebay or theres a couple local record places still around in my area...and yea 460 for two tables and a mixer sounds like a great deal. the mixer looks better than mine by far.
yea, when i was first searching for records i just tried to get a lot of hip hop instrumentals and/or acapellas...then i got a few scratch records and some albums also...i have a little bit of everything. but yea, if you wanna mix you definitely want instrumentals and acapellas.
how long did it take you to get beatmatching down? i know it varies depending on time spent and the individual, but i'm just wondering in your case how long before you started gettin the hang of it
um i would say i took to turntables in general pretty quickly. i have a good feel for music and writing music and everything like that so as far as realizing the tempos of songs and being able to match the two kind of fell in place pretty easily. but ive been around music for a while now and i seem to be a fast learner when it comes to it. if you can count the beats in music (basically 4/4 timing) and know how long the breaks are (4 bars, 8 bars, etc.) then youre half way there id say.
your scratchings really tight now you've improve alot and like you say this is when the camera's on. I would imagine like most people your best is when the camera's off and when you're more relax.
the record on the right has the ahh sound (obviously since i used it in the video.) im pretty sure the record on the left doesnt have the ahh sound...it doesnt have any scratch sounds i dont think, its just beats. google turntablelab and thats where i got my scratch records.
i explain my setup in the review i did, i should make another video explaining my setup more completely i guess, i take my table mixer into another mixer then into a usb interface...so its all internal, i dont use my camera's audio pickup for the vids, then i edit the audio track over top of the video track...so its more crisp that way rather than using the crummy mic on the camera, that may answer your question...
the turntable is perfekt, I mean that it is just two outher turntables that is better than the t.80:P It is just the mixer that is not so good;D get a new mixer, and you are ready to be the new DJ :D
I think the stanton str8-150 deck and theTechnics SL1210MK5G Deck is better;D
sure you can, you could either change the rca output on the mixer to be a laptop size headphone jack...or get an interface to plug yer mixer into and plug THAT into your laptop...basically he same way you hook them up to a pc...theres prolly also some other ways as well. bottom line -- yes you can hook them to a pc or a laptop.
I've seen all of your video, it's f'in awesome..just wonderin' where do you get some of your records like the arcade breaks and superduck breaks..do you go to a local store or is there a good online site to go to
great video, one of my favorites. i'm an oobernoob, and this might be a dumb question, how do you mark your vinyl? well, what do you mark it with. thanks much
i use stickers, usually the little round or rectangle ones you get when you have a yard sale...the ones you right the price of shit on or whatever...you can either put them on the inside of the record to kinda let you know where a certain sound is, OR you can put the sticker straight on the vinyl (on the grooves) right BEFORE the sound or break you want. then place the needle where the sticker is and slow the record with your hand to let the needle skip to the exact groove where youve marked it.

I'm buying the dj lab 3 basically because of YOU! I have a few questions.
1. Did you teach yourself?
2. Do they sell records mainly for scratching that just have like one word on them like fresh?
Your sick and u inspired me to get the dj lab 3, thanks man and keep up the sick style!
DJSCREWBIE 1 year ago
@DJSCREWBIE yes i did teach myself,
I taught myself a lot of instruments though
so im somewhat musically inclined already.
and yes they sell scratch records specifically,
look for "battle" records or "break" records
or just scratch records and you'll find what
you're looking for.
thanks for the comments man.
