I watched this film when I was a kid. but the memories are still alive, I always treasure my childhood memories. And the chinese ghost story serie as well this song are one big part of it. Actually, I met a girl who looks very like Joey Wong. And when that girl left me, I turned on this song and cry while missing her... :'(

I think the title of the song is 'Please don't let dawn comes". The lyric is about a scholar who met a female ghost and they fell in love. And if the sun rises, the ghost would perish forever and they can never meet again..hence, let the sun never comes.. isn't it beautiful?

On top of that, her time on this world is limited so the scholar only had one night to spend with her. At the final scene, after they went through hell (literally) to acquire her urn, Its already morning.

This sounds like cantonese really. But quite beautiful. If you watch to the old jackie chan kung fu movies, their cantonese is really not that beautiful.

Beautiful mandarin is spoken in crouching tiger, hidden dragon, I think.

Anyway, this song is GREAT. Hongkong was really great from 1970-2000, too bad it was in decline afterwards... they had such a cool tradition of creating movies far away from the stereotype Hollywood

I love A Chinese Ghost Story too. In fact, it's my favourite movie of all time.

What I like about it is how after all those lustful men that used Xiao xian for her body, along comes this timid yet good-hearted tax collector, who just wants to love her. And although they can't be together at the time (He being human and she being a ghost), he helped her to start over again for being re-incarnated.
