In most areas a Still alarm brings the initial companies to a call. In cases of a possible structure fire it is 2 engines, a truck, an ambulance and a chief officer. When the alarm is bumped to a full still it will bring an additional engine or squad to act as a RIT (firefighter rescue) team. A box alarm brings in additional resources such as chiefs, engines, truck, a canteen or rehab and so on. This will also bring in change companies to cover the stations of the companies commited to the fire.
Any word on the cause of the fire? Would residential sprinklers stopped or slowed the fire to prevent the loss and collateral damage to the neighbor's house?
My parents' house is to the left there and it also caught on fire. I am so grateful to the SHFD, as well as the other towns who participated, for their efforts in saving their home. They were wonderful and treated us like family while retrieving things from the house that we requested. It is unfortunate that their neighbor lost her home, but she is alive.
hmmm, I was wondering the same thing. If the inside of that housae was anything like my father`s, I could understand why. My dad is a pile-it. A pile here, a pile there.....If his place ever took off, it`d be a cooker. All the crap he has piled everywhere.
it was actually a 2stry/basement. "Quad-level" Oldtimer you hit it dead on the head, thats exactly how that house was from what the interior crew had said.
The whole rear part of the house collapsed. What the builder did with these types of houses when they were built, he cut like a 3x3 hole for all the plumbing etc to go through from the basement straight up to the roof, so instead of making a hole for each pipe, there was just a main hole, well the builder never took the time to fill it in, so if when you have a fire in the basement, it will go straight to the attic.
Now that is a rippin' house fire....yowza!

Excellent video! Only constructive criticism would be to lose the still photos. Other than that, as a former producer, you did a great job!

Would you mind explaining what a 3-11 fire is exactly and how many different levels are there? Thank you.

Good footage there Jay. I believe the term for a house like that is colliers mansion conditions.
