  • My 6 year old lad loves this song - as do I.

    Terrific!

  • Great video. It is refreshing for an artist like Al Jarreau to have fun. I wish that the younger artists today can learn something from Al Jarreau.

  • J'ai beau avoir 16 ans, il n'est pas comparable aux stars de maintenant ! J'adore ce mec !

  • Al Jarreau - Boogie Down (Video): your music composition and boogie is sensational! I can relate to not being camera shy when dancing like yourselve as you sing & boogie. Do you do private table dancing, singing & boogie? How much per hour? If you do how far in advance does a Fan have to book it! Shoot, I bet you dance during your sleep. Your are quite the music artist. TY - RhinoEntertainment copyright 2009 WMG A Fan, Juanita :)

  • Cute and corny song that makes me tap my foot.

  • @cooperman78 mighty Turbo!

  • This video reminded of a version of this he did on Johnny Carson's show years ago; it started out pretty routine Al, but magically...he seemed to draw the life out of Carson's band and you can see Ol' Doc Severinson wakin' up, and it turned into a rollickin', slammin', one of the BEST LIVE performances--EVER--by Carson's band! They truly had the audience standing in ovation---they rocked it! I was wondering if anyone out there has a copy of that Johnny Carson show! Truly a classic!

  • @LMmccallL57 You too. It was '81 or '82 I was 11 or 12. Man my dad had this album and played it all the time. I loved this song, morning, and dance upon the roof or Garden on the roof. I can't remember. I going to look for the roof song next. Oh wait I see it on the right. Roof Garden. See ya. LOL

  • @c0mm0ns3nc3 I don't blame your dad! LOL!

Isn't it great to have parents who introduce you to such music? :D

I love "Roof Garden", "Mornin", "Boogie Down", "Trouble in Paradise", "Day by Day" (performed with Shakatak), and more. He's awesome! :D

  • Al Jarreau is the king of scatting

  • I miss the 80s :(

  • @atoosas I know what you mean:-)

  • One of the great scats in pop jazz,

  • This is the photo session of the album.. he wears the same clothes on the cover of the record. Simple video..but he was such a revelation at the epoch..we all loved him instantly.

  • This is the cheapest video I've ever seen. Al Jarreau reminds me of my uncle - my uncle Tom.

  • @comforama

  • 2.02 ,, air sax? or air GUITAR?

  • I'm playing 1st Tenor Sax for a Stage Band/Jazz Band arrangement of this, and it's amazing. It's my first time playing in a Jazz Band, and it's so damn catchy and fun to play. Not to mention I get a solo! ;)

  • @TheKevinV08 you reckon you could hook me up with the score sheet for our jazz band? email or something, would be great to play!

  • @jazzadvaney Boogie Down, Arr. Micheal Sweeney. I believe you can find it on Hal Leonard's website.

  • Notare come riesce acantare la chitarra ...cosi solo lui grande

  • 3:29 ... CROTCH SHOT!

  • though hes a little bit of a goof hes so awesome. total legend in both music and personality. from his musical (& instrumental) voice to his crazy attitude/dancing.

  • @jazzadvaney I like that he's a goof! LOL. It's endearing! :D

  • Al Jarreau sweats Music!!!

  • classic stuff here !

  • Funky vocal jazz by Jarreau

  • I forgot I loved this song! I love his expressions and movements.

  • If anyone you personify scatsong for me, and there is where i get my inspiration.

  • This song make me so damn happy, because it incorporates the greatest theme of all, everything you have todo is get your boogie down. And anyone can really do anything, so let us do things toghether.

  • I suppose this song made me better then i was supposed to be, i did get my boogie down.

  • AL your a great inspiration for my you master the blues and jazz but more important your music swing full of funk and beat, and you are a master of walks. When you do the walk everything follows.

  • I was beginning to think that I'd made this song up! From time to time, the chorus pops into my head, but I haven't heard it since I was a weeeee little thing!

  • he reminds me of barack obama

  • And why was the horn section so incredible on this album? NO SAXES! All brass.

  • Love him...... hate that sweater.....looks like he stole it from a 12 year old girls closet!

  • That's my favorite song of the great Al Jarreau, although not was a huge hit on the Billboard Charts ( only made it the # 77 ) late in 1983.

Thank you RHINO for posting the video in H.Q.
