what a god-awful piece. there is so much great music already, we don't need anymore of this copy-cat contrived nonsense. imagine, making this young talent play this piece.
What a brilliant performance. The forearm at 6:32 is notated in the music for Bagatelle number IV as "Right Hand forearm black note cluster" on the music and includes all the black notes for two octaves from D flat which is quite difficult to play and get all the notes in!
@iSpySchool that certainly was NOT two octaves, but merely a fifth. the kids' arm would never span 2 8ves. your facts are wrong. and it doesn't matter anyway, because they piece is total garbage.
I would guess it's written on the score to play all the black keys in a certain range. He would've easily reached the bottom e quickly without using his forearm so he would've only done that cuz it's written on the score.
You run out words to describe such ability and talent that is around today especially Benjamin Grosvenor so I am just going to sit back in awe and enjoy the music
He went to my school a few years ago - WHSB.
I remember hearing him in asembly - amazing!!

Can someone explain to me the forearm technique at 6:36??
RachmaninoffGuy 3 years ago
I could only guess as it is to get bottom e quickly from the other end of the piano. Pretty cool way to do it!

I guess Benjamin G. proves that you don't need big hands to be a great pianist. He's only eleven here right?
