Does the front facing camera on this phone work with the the new skype application being its been updated?

@321rockerdude yes note made of new skype working. left this up for download because it has manual rotation. market skype camera looks like it rotates but on the receiving end, such as PC, the camera is still sideways. so if you prefer to hold camera vertical then before call manual switch to vertical. read through comments instruction

@hummings43 this modded apk only for those that want the camera rotation to work vertically and must be manually set before video chat started. other then that if you always use in horizontal chat the market skype works now. the market version when holding vertically looks flipped on your phone but receiving end see you sideways.

@anonymous10001000 it's in the comments. go into settings and manual set rotation. there are 2 places for settings. goto TWEAKS menu. this must be done before the call is made

@EastEZ82 found cord on ebay. micro hdmi average $3 or more. don't forget to check individual target store return policy. most don't do return just exact exchange on electronics including phones. but Sometimes you can get gift card with purchase of their phones.

@EastEZ82 working on getting some extra videos out. but there is talk from VM support that Moto is working on a update. no word if and when released but I called and had support check and they confirmed. if you call you must ask for future possible update. I am hoping because I use the HDMI out and the custom rom doesn't have it working as of yet. but they already have booting ice cream sandwich.

What I am afraid of is Virgin making a big stink about me buying it from lets say best buy instead of from them (VM) but on the flip side if I buy from Best buy they feel the same. Where did you buy from?

@farstarfilms 279 at best buy. radio shack had them for 229 but don't see them online at all today. must of sold out. might want to check a local radio shack and see if they have any left. just before a new phone release they drop price and then raise and freeze price of other phones as in no sale while they push new one. have found look alike models for rumored phones that confirm if these ZTE's are it just another bone with no meat.

@farstarfilms sorry too funny, all this bad weather this winter blizzard, ice storms, rain, high winds, now mud slides all in 1 1/2 weeks (no joke)... I got wishing for sun and surf on the brain. ROFL forgive me. I guess I am the one that needs the protective case. I am with you not buying extra stuff. Phone comes with 1 year manufacture Motorola Warranty. But go through Virgin Mobile. w/ VM pretty much no questions asked as long as there is no physical damage. and they send replacement first.

@farstarfilms for you it might be worth it. especially if you are one who puts the phone in back pocket. I think best buy has warranty that covers damage and you can use it as in store credit for another phone in case there is better out if at the time. at least that is the talk they give me. check it out and read for your self. find which would be best for you.

@farstarfilms On ebay there is a water proof phone case. search..... Water Resistant Pouch Bag Cover ..... has a neck strap. i have camera bag like that that work for taking photos under water have only tested my camera up 5 feet. I measured phone to case size and looks snug but might should fit. Think I will get one soon. I like to frequent the beach in the summers. even if I keep phone in the vehicle sand always finds it's way everywhere.

@farstarfilms no extra warranty with store or VM. VM is great at handling manufacture warranty. I am pretty careful about physical damage. I take a different approach. set aside what I would pay for their insurance towards the next phone that way I can have better. after they prorate and deductible unless you damage phone early on to me not worth it. I still have the phone now. Since I don't rely on GPS (MT downfall) for me it is the best choice for what I require.

@Mockingbird115 you will find that the brighter the light the more frames per sec it will record. The apps can only access not change the way the kernel is written. With the Miui custom rom I believe it has option to turn the torch on for video. please read up on that before if you are getting just for that option.

@22Rtizzle if viewing from a portable device youtube redirects most links. will message you it. the market one works now for front camera but has rotation issue that only the receiving end notices (sideways video) so this mod version is a way of setting for vertical video. going to landscape must set back to landscape.

@MrHugorocks if you don't see video chat in settings then you phone is not capable of video chat but when you asked before I assumed when you were asking you were referring to the triumph or optimus v. No, the intercept can only voice or text with skype. The intercept can't even video chat with yahoo.

@MrHugorocks no. the back camera will work but you face the back camera to you and you can't see the screen of the other person unless you set up some mirrors.

@reddnmilla only if you are having rotation problems. I left this up cause the market front camera works in landscape. but when rotated vertically. triumph screen shows rotation but for other person (at least on my pc I tested). the receiving end see sideways video when you turn triumph vertically. so with this mod you can manually rotate video vertically before the call if that way you prefer to hold you phone. @LILWHITEISTIGHT no virus. there is a android market one out now that has front camera working but the mod in this one that lets you rotate video manually if it is still not working in the market released version. but for triumph the market one works in landscape mode. and lat time I check vertical mode rotated on triumph screen but not receiving end.

I unzipped the file, put it on my Motorola Triump and tried to install it like the video says. At the end of the installation process, I got a msg, application not installed. Any idea what I did wrong? Anyone else have this problem?

@HuggiePampersBambino YES you need to add money IF you are going to be calling a land line or somebody else's mobile phone number. The skype to skype calls are free. As in the other person has to have to have skype installed on their computer or phone.

@mstechify you don't dial a number. you both have to have separate skype accounts and add each other to contacts list the same you would a chat messenger and accept each others requests.

@mstechify, sorry. I've tried using WI-FI, I've uninstalled and reinstalled skype, I also tried factory reset. I'm testing it at home with my laptop, but when I make a video call, I can see myself at first but as soon as I pick up the line on my laptop the video image disappears and I can't get it back even though I keep hitting the video button. not sure what I'm doing wrong :(

@mstechify I haven't tried another device or computer, but the laptop I'm using always works fine with skype. we use it pretty often to speak with family member's. the video and audio always work fine. not sure if I should be using a different setting on the motorola triumph. I've already set it to auto rotation and front camera rotation to 180 degrees. not sure what's going on since everyone else has pretty much had success. :(

@biriba70 have you put the checkmark next to "Enable Video Calling", towards the bottom of skype settings in the Triumph. What you are saying will happen if you are initiating the video call from PC to Triumph when triumph doesn't have the video setting enabled. Try initiating video call from triumph first. If it won't then you did put the check mark there. by default with skype video is shut off.

@mstechify for whatever reason, still not have been able to use video calling. I enabled it and I can see myself, but as soon as the the other person picks up, the video disappears and only the voice portion of the call can be used. I tried tapping the video button but it just turns the video on and then off. the other side just see's the video about to initiate but then it stops. can't understand why? is there a setting on resolution that I should be using?

I have installed this apk on 2 different phones and worked right away. have you rooted your phone and use of custom rom? if so I don't know if they fixed the custom rom to work with front camera yet. If the triumph the one on wifi? did you click on page link and click zip icon or HERE link? I will message you and continue trouble shooting.

i tried it and my phone told me i ran out of space. but i have a ton of space left! also, when i go to the file on astro, it doesnt have the skype symbol it just has an android symbol. please help! i did convert it to apk and i did everything else you said to.

@ohyeslauren you have to unzip the file to see the apk. did you make sure you unistalled any other skype first. last resort back up your stuff and reformat your phone to make sure there is nothing installed interfering. I will post Droidx download so you can try again. from mobile devices youtube channel will not load full link and redirects. and unzip (unpackage the file) you are not converting anything.

See vid @ 0:37 were I zoomed into the webpage to show where the direct download is at from on that webpage I linked to here. @mstechify, I uninstalled the previous version of skype and installed the version that was on the posted link.I followed all steps,when I test the the video call, my video starts up fine, but when the call is answered the video goes away and I am only able to use voice.I've tried click on the video button during the call, but the video will still not come up.Not sure what is wrong or if there are some settings that I should use. @biriba70 I have tested this on version 039 just now. sending and receiving video calls. no problems. there are 3 things it could be. poor connection, other persons video or lack of video camera, or interfering program. Back up your contacts and calendar, text you , must save and write down names of programs you favor. Then perform a factory reset. menu, settings, privacy, factory reset. Your sd card will not be deleted.

@biriba70 After reset sign into market and sync you stuff (contacts and calendar) and install your file manager. then after that install this version of skype and test with just those installs. Be sure to "enable video calling". test on wifi data. I am able to skype on wifi and 3g but it will error on 3g if connection poor and put the call on hold.

@keyshiacolesnumber1 they use data NOT minutes. You are better to run these programs off wifi for video and voice but it is doable depending on data speed and ping time. Which one depends on who you are contacting and what they use. as stated before Oct 2011 Virgin will be capping data speeds at 2.5GB data you will still get unlimited data but first 2.5GB will be regular speed and after that speed drops to 256kbps. still better then others.

@youtub3cowman read the more info area under video about vertical chat. Trying to keep vid short and just typed that info to read. this is modded apk to get front camera working which it was't supported by skype for any froyo android 2.2. and Original skype only support video in landscape only (see video were I show original market skype). so to be able to even vertical chat the person who modded this file made a TWEAKS menu which you will see full settings once video enable in the skype menu.

What file browser application are you using to open and install on your phone? I am using astro file manager. do you see blue and white s or a brown box picture. @DavidMTheGreat when you are using skype was it on 3g or wifi? AND ALSO is your video setting set for high or low? I ran it on wifi high video for up to 20 minutes and never had it freeze or turn colors. I know yahoo will do that. also was the person you were skypeing with on wifi or 3g and what was their video settings. Test out skype with your phone and other device both on good wifi. Using 3g will give varied results for video calling... also try a task killer and close all apps running

I forgot to mention in this mod it has the automatic skype sign in, on start up, is shut off. that is a bonus. The person changed the FFC. if you click on their profile you can read all there post and when they started to create the mod.
