Best video ever!! Thank you so much. Amazing and beautiful and full of wonderful reminders. Added to my favorites. Hopefully one day we can all truly *hear* this message, with new ears. Thank you for putting out this positive energy and wisdom. P.S. I am also pro-vegan and pro-choice and pro-love and acceptance. :)
Some good & bad points. I agree our views might not be right and you shouldn't hate for people disagreeing with you but that doesn't mean you can't argue. If you think the world needs to hear something or do something, preach it. Don't judge the judgers. We all judge. If that's a problem to you, it's your problem. I don't think the day will ever come where you can't buy rice or pasta from a supermarket. We all contribute to suffering sure, but to different extents. I take what I need and no more
Dude, I love your attitude in dealing with opposing opinions! Your openness and fervent desire to share love and attention to everyone, even those who are a little rude... very inspirational, man, seriously. I know you like the Power of Now, and I thought maybe I'd share Discover The Gift with you... It's a great new documentary that I think you'd like if you enjoyed the Power of Now. on .fb .me/ kVoAQo
good vid. i'm trying to be pro "live your life however the hell you want" camp, but there are some behaviors i have a really hard time tolerating. trying to change people is exhausting and stressful though. i find i'm more at peace when i live my life the way i want regardless of what other people are doing, and let others do what they want. if i find someone intolerable i seriously consider not being around them. my joy and peace has become more important to me than getting sucked into BS.
I DECIDED TO BECOME VEGAN APRIL 1 OF THIS YEAR, AND THAT WAS THE BEST CHOICE I MADE BECAUSE I WANTED TO FEEL A CHANGE INTERNALLY AND EXTERNALLY BY MY 21ST BIRTHDAY, AND JUST AS I PLANNED, SO IT HAPPEN AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN HAPPIER WITH MYSELF. PEOPLE ARE ALSO SEEING THE DIFFERENCE IN ME. WITHOUT TELLING OTHERS MY TRANSFORMATION MAKES THEM WANT TO EXPERIENCE ALL THAT I AM GOING THROUGH. ITS VERY TRUE THAT ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS AND YOUR TRANSFORMATION IS INSPIRING A LOT OF CHANGE.
Interesting vid Phillip, though I would comment with regards to "choice"..I am sure those animals that suffer needlessly had NO choice when they were slaughtered/hunted etc. As humans we do have a CHOICE and that choice should always be to the benefit of all living creatures. To any soul here that is having a human experience, then you have far more choices than any other animal on this planet..and with great wisdom comes the value and true love of other animals.
Good video, the world needs more people like you who understand there is not one answer of how we spend our human experience. Just because something worked...(or didnt work)...for us doesnt make it right or wrong, nor does it mean its for everyone.
I could not lose weight on raw vegan or vegetarian. I finally found HCG on youtube, and it works for those of us who have tried everything else. I had been RV on and off since 08, went on green smoothie fasts, master cleanse, etc. and couldn't move the scale. I'm so glad I kept looking for answers. the whole "you don't need protein" business in the raw world is not always true.
I know I'm a bit lat to this conversation, but I must agree with you Phillip! I am a vegan, but I'm learning to loosen up a bit. You are spot on about the fact that in dire situations, nearly all of us would eat meat. I know I would. It's not about morals or compassion...it's about reality. I also agree that many people who are so adamant about animal cruelty are the same who consistently buy cheap clothes made at the expense of humans in poor countries.
I do judge, but my judgement is that I like the way you think. I could not go vegan until I had exhausted every other option. Because I arrived at the decision in this way, I know that I will be vegan for life... unless the economic system breaks down and I have to eat some fish to survive until I can grow me some fruits and vegetables.
This is an excellent video. All the stress, tension, labeling, debating and restricting we have put on raw vegan and before that, vegan and before that vegetarian, is really stressful and takes away from the whole point. Who cares how you eat if you're still mean to other people over the choices they make? Food alone cannot make a person loving and harmonious~
You know what? I love you too!! THIS IS AMAZING! I wish everyone in the entire world could watch this video, and actually just soak it up. Parts if this video gave me the goosebumps. Thank you! :)
For me raw food is total freedom because it gives me total health, total fisical and mind capacity, almost money free too, animal and planet harm free.
The other food means to me all kinds of imprisonment, I can only be absolutly free as a 100% raw vegan eater! You dont need all kinds of foods (that are not really food) to be enjoying life Philip, but you need raw food to be free.
hi there, I totally agree with you. moral judgements tends to only create tension in my own experience, which will in time bring very little possitive with it.
However may I ask you if you take the same position when it comes to certain brutal criminal acts like paedophilia, rape, violence etc. in a sense it could be argued that these people are just doing whatever the hell they want too, still I feel rather uneasy with their choices. no direct comparison intended.
Wow. Now I dont feel so bad for not having the will power to stay on a raw vegan diet. After all your years of success and videos...it goes to show that it is hard to do what we know is best for our bodies...we will find all kinds of things to say to convince ourselves of our decisions...right or wrong. Thanks for showing us who you are...human.
I agree with this video, completly the truth!! Why people get so pissed about this is that they just cant handle the TRUTH!!!! Live healthy ,live life!! Your only here once make the best of it!! If someone doesnt want to eat meat dont, if someone does, go ahead, its your choice!!
People can be so extreme on the raw diet, their like "EAT ONLY 100% RAW" ,,"OR ELSE YOU WILL BE UNHEALTHY IF YOU COOK YOUR FOOD". Like shut up already, some cooked veggie or cooked grain is extremely healthy, and is still to the extreme!, Its not like somone is eating cake and then they go eat a banana, thats unhealthy! people loose tons of weight even with cooked healthy food, and plus those people out there that judge others about what they eat is because they arent eating healthy themselves!
Thanks for the balanced point of view. I totally shun elitists of any form. I am trying to go RAW and man it is a challenge! But listening to you share your thoughts make me want to try harder with out judgment on myself and others that get on the RAW food wagon and then fall off. Just keep getting back on until you can sustain the that lifestyle. No harsh judgment. Just progress. Simple. Very Simple.
you are really balanced and I found your video refreshing. In all things balance.Do the very best you can for your life and live first! most people can't stand it if others are not doing the same as they are...Ego,,they want to be justified in their actions...like religion, "be like me so i will feel safe in my choice". agree with me!! ha you sound like my kids! kudos!!!
You are too cool Phillip. I totally resonate with what you're saying. I want to chat one day, to connect with people who just get it. Think...I'm 14 years old and have been going through all this. The energy of the dietary world never ceases to amaze. Anyway, hit me up -- talk soon -B
Are you still doing P90X? If so can you do an update or point me where you do update? I'm thinking of getting into it, so I'm curious how it works with a raw vegan diet. Thanks!
I agree. I hate it when people give me a hard time about eating other people. J/K
I am vegan, but I wasn't always that way. There may come a time when, to survive, I may find myself eating meat as a last resort (not because it's cold, but because there is literally nothing else). I would love it if everyone was vegan, but that's not going to happen. My preaching and insisting is not going to convince anyone to change. The best I can do is make my choices for me and be an example by my actions.
Great video Phillip :) I quickly realised that, no matter how knowledgable you are, you cannot tell people what to eat. I simply eat (what I consider to be) a healthy diet and as time passes more and more people notice and say I look younger and brighter than 5 years ago. Don't tell, be an example, and if they ask be happy to provide info.
I tried raw vegan for 6 months and all I got was muscle loss. Before that I was lean and muscular Now Im on 40% raw + meat and cooked veg etc. and feel great
Based on some of what I perceive as very self-opinionated comments in response to this video I would say it validates the general point of your video. It's difficult to be yourself without the herd mentality creeping in. Example: to be "truly vegan" the first thing you should give up are the articles and implements of feudalism which harm people, and that would be money and taxes. See? I like the point to this video and seems a good fit with the efforts of those attempting to change their diet.
There is no reason to ever exalt the killing of animals, Mr. McCluskey, even if you find indigenous lifestyles so enamoring. They weren't perfect. It sounds to me like you rediscovered your ego. Where is the humility? Remember what strict raw, live vegan foods have contributed to your health, brother. Don't become another dissident of raw vegan lifestyles just because you cannot stand powerfully in the face of adversity and animosity from others. Intellectual suicide, yikes...
@LoveLotusBoy When the sun "kills us all" I hope you believe your truth abides, Lotus... Mr. McCluskey, don't lose hope in the face of such labeling and control....This person has there identity wrapped completely in their ideal of veganism.....They don't realize that this form dissolves like all other forms, and forms include bodies (plant, animal and cellular), all material structures, planets, physical energy, AS WELL AS all ideas, beliefs, memes, cultures, etc....all forms dissolve...
@LoveLotusBoy Lotus, I am not in opposition to the Reality of what you Are. I support veganism, yet I am not vegan. This body of mine is an organic being that has a brain that I owe to millions of years of my biological ancestors eating BOTH animal and plant-beings. I don't believe lettuce has sentience, but the cells that structure that lettuce are the very same cells that organized THEMSELVES into animal, as well as plant.
Good video. And I suspect yours is an attitude that converts more people than the self-righteous, rigid attitude of too many people who follow this lifestyle.
I'm thankful that I make enough money to even buy decent food (cooked or raw, I eat mostly cooked if you're curious haha) to continue living life. A lot of people unfortunately do not have food and I've seen it.
dope video P- for reals. i started feeling more and more like this after visiting the Eden Hot Springs retreat in May when my hyperactive raw food paradigm was busted open and I began to realize the importance of food energy, love energy- the energy we are putting into things... everyone is in a different head space and honoring and loving them there is where it's at. your vids have evolved P- Dawg and it's inspiring to see the evolution and the honesty. you rock.
food is merely sustainance so that we have energy to take care of eachother as human beings. many vegans spend so much of their life on a high horse, shopping in Gucci organic supermarkets while the true heroes are on the front line in Africa feeding and educating the children, not having a second thought for what they eat just so long as it will get them through the day. I'm really proud of you Phillip, keep up the good work!!
dude you wisdom has grown exponentially since you relenquished your food ego!! The last few videos have been amazing. are the inuets bad people because they eat seals? Have you ever tried growing a pineapple in the snow? What about people in africa where raw food is not sustainable and they can only eat meat? Do we judge them for simply trying to survive? You are right, we are not here to quarrel about food, food has become a false idol to many vegans.
@johnchapterseventeen Hey :) I just want to say that I am vegan and wouldn't dream of judging anyone eating meat due to challenging circumstances when other food isn't available. Also, a lot of crops grown in the third world are fed to animals for meat and dairy for people in the West, rather than being fed to the starving people there. And lots of fruit is grown in Africa. I guess more money is needed for more fruit trees to be planted there. Love and peace.
I tried to watch this but I couldn't take it after a few minutes. You're quoting Gandhi to rebut ethical vegans? Do you know who Gandhi was, dude? Veganism is about NON-VIOLENCE, among other things. Don't you get that? Here are some more Gandhi quotes: "A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history. " "A 'No' uttered from the deepest conviction is better than a 'Yes' merely uttered to please, or worse, to avoid trouble. "
Ditto, My Friend! Missed your last video, so I don't know the exact details. : ) However, it is lovely to watch you handle it with grace. I totally feel all that you are saying here. Peace, Angie
I really enjoy this video and your personality - however if the shops went out of business I would rather eat fruits and vegies than meat. Having said that I am a very unhealthy vegan. The UK obviously isn't ideal for fresh fruits so I would move to Thailand and live like a king... that's if there were no shops.
@Bimboesque I like your comment :) The UK is actually great for fresh fruits. The supermarkets have plenty. Some raw foodists buy exotic fruits from wholesalers also. "If vegan food became unavailable" is a "what if" scenario, which doesn't apply at the moment. I'm sure if it happened, we would have to eat whatever was available to survive, but again, this is irrelevant to the present moment. We do our best in the present moment, right? :) Visiting new places, it will be hard to find usual
Your thoughts in the first 4 minutes reminded me of one of my favorite quotes: "Preach the gospel at all times and if necessary, use words."--St. Francis of Assisi.
Actions always speak louder than words and talk is cheap. Live your life instead of trying to force people to be something they are not.
Thank you for posting this video! Out of all of the videos that you have posted, to me, this is the best yet. I say that because you are talking about the exact same issues that I have been dealing with for so long. I have been following your journey for the last few years because I have been through the same thing: 200lb. weight loss and all of the topics you are mentioning outside of food. This is the conclusion that I have made for myself as well. Thanks Philip for this. Much love!
I hate when people believe that what they eat should be a religion. I've committed to not wanting to drink, but there are certain occasions where I feel like Phillip says to live life. We will never be completely "uncontaminated" and sometimes we don't step back to realize this.
As a person who would like to have your button pushed, why are you censoring comments.....I like your video, but censoring is a big noooooo. You must believe in what you saying, fuck what what ppl have to say...please reply before I unsub...love
hey thanks alot for your thoughts! i get discouraged sometimes because i understand people must make their own choices and so often they seem so wrong. but i just need to be concerned about myself.
That was a great message. I have been thinking lately about how we tend to label ourselves and others with religion, class, color, size, and eating. Even within each label is a number of sub categories that you can fall into. What is the point? Even though there has always been labels do we have to continue to do so. You bring up a good point but WHAT IS THE SOLUTION!!??!?!?!
People do follow examples of those on youtube who have had success with the raw diet and weight loss. They will continue to follow when the example changes and unfortunately it isn't to their benefit.
By the way, I was veggie 12yrs and then vegan for 10. Raw vegan this last year. There are many long term vegans in England. It's not difficult as you say. I do believe you're a great guy and trying your best to live your life doing the right thing however. Love and best wishes to you.
Eating animal "products" causes disasterous health problems and disasterous probs for the planet. Being a shining example is wonderful, but the info needs to be put out there also. People do listen. Just because man (not all man) has eaten meat thru history, doesn't mean it's good n fine to continue. Prayer and respect doesn't eliminate suffering for animals, people or planet. Many vegans have good friendships with meat eaters also, so aren't excluding anything! Lots cheap vegan shoes about to.
BEST VIDEO EVER!!! I'm a vegetarian, and I unsubbed from some of the "RAW FOODISTS"LOL. They want you to fall into their DOGMA. trade one control for "Theirs". Live your life Brotha!!!! ENJOY THIS LIFE!
Thank you for making this video. SOme people really need to just let go... and relax.... Death is inevitable no matter what we do and eat. We just need to be happy..... Let people live.
Good message. Refreshing from what I have been hearing from some corners of the raw food promoters. I am not vegan but eat high raw and exercise almost every day, use coffee, nicotine (e-cigs), cannabis, and occasionally alcohol. I am told that spiritual development is not possible with those "stimulants" but so far so good from my perspective. I am truly happy and feel great with a lot of love in my life to share. What now? Love ya Brother Phil!
Great message Phillip. You are so right about us being light and spirit and Never to be judgmental about people's choices. Gandhi was right when he said Be the change you want to see in the world. When we stand against something we are bound to fail. Thank you
I'm totally with you on thins! I tend to eat mostly low fat raw vegan most of the time but I sometimes try new things or eat a little meat or cheese. I'm OK with it. I eat without self-righteousness and with out guilt. I eat with love!
LMAO..."they ate meat...and so has...pretty much everyone else since the beginning of time!" <3!! & "Christ:...by the way he was a fisherman." You are freaking AWESOME. *SNAP FINGERS*..Phillip my friend, you speak truth to my spirit. I am sending you a huge tight virtual hug because you inspire my soul SO MUCH! I love and appreciate you very much my friend.
This is a great vid for the vegans out there. Now we need the spokesperson for the meat eater to come on and explain to to them to accept the vegans who may be around them. How about a sister who gives me a BBQ for Christmas. Turkey dinners we need to participate in. I think that this topic needs to be for all people to accept what others chose, and that goes for the meat eaters out there too. Thanks. Ron
Put an Eskimo on a veggie diet if you want to kill him in a couple of years. Everyone is different. To each his own. Great vid bro! I wore a leather jacket to the health food store the other day, and you should have seen the looks. hahaha.
I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad Philip. I lost both my parents so I know first hand how hard it is to deal with that. On a lighter note you are right to do you and don't worry about anyone else. You cant please everyone and I've learned you really shouldn't want to.

I'm thankful that I make enough money to even buy decent food (cooked or raw, I eat mostly cooked if you're curious haha) to continue living life. A lot of people unfortunately do not have food and I've seen it.

Hey, Phillip. Don't worry about haters. You're trying to help ppl out of compassion and a willingness to share your life. You are appreciated.

dope video P- for reals. i started feeling more and more like this after visiting the Eden Hot Springs retreat in May when my hyperactive raw food paradigm was busted open and I began to realize the importance of food energy, love energy- the energy we are putting into things... everyone is in a different head space and honoring and loving them there is where it's at. your vids have evolved P- Dawg and it's inspiring to see the evolution and the honesty. you rock.

food is merely sustainance so that we have energy to take care of eachother as human beings. many vegans spend so much of their life on a high horse, shopping in Gucci organic supermarkets while the true heroes are on the front line in Africa feeding and educating the children, not having a second thought for what they eat just so long as it will get them through the day. I'm really proud of you Phillip, keep up the good work!!
johnchapterseventeen 1 year ago
dude you wisdom has grown exponentially since you relenquished your food ego!!

@LovingRaw are you going all organic too??? It is just so hard to get organic produce where i am at.
emersoneee2008 1 year ago

I really enjoy this video and your personality - however if the shops went out of business I would rather eat fruits and vegies than meat. Having said that I am a very unhealthy vegan. The UK obviously isn't ideal for fresh fruits so I would move to Thailand and live like a king... that's if there were no shops.
Bimboesque 1 year ago
@Bimboesque I like your comment :) The UK is actually great for fresh fruits. The supermarkets have plenty. Some raw foodists buy exotic fruits from wholesalers also. "If vegan food became unavailable" is a "what if" scenario, which doesn't apply at the moment. I'm sure if it happened, we would have to eat whatever was available to survive, but again, this is irrelevant to the present moment. We do our best in the present moment, right? :) Visiting new places, it will be hard to find usual

@natureasintended diet, but still vegan foods like grains, fruits and veggies will usually be readily available.

Philip,
This is a great vid for the vegans out there. Thanks. Ron
