He gave you an instruction and you followed it without using your own willingness to observe anything else. Most people have to rewind to see if those words were really on the back.

The graphic for "How Many Red Cards Are Dealt" appears before the 9 of Diamonds is 'dealt'. If this is a test of observation, I observed that the first red card was dealt after the written graphic and during the verbal prompt; therefore, the 9 of diamonds should count as a red card being dealt.

Those that pride themselves on intellect and berate those that "don't get it" need to understand that a card dealt is a card dealt, regardless of it being used as an example.

That wasn't made clear in the explanation. All of the cards were "dealt from the top of the deck", there's no indication that somehow the first card dealt didn't count, just because he paused and pointed at it. If so, then it's just stupid.
