@Vocaloid8979 Well, apparently the whole "trade secret" thing didn't work out as I had hoped, but oh well. Projection is with a black background and about 7 ft of distance between the projector and net. Her position in the video is adjusted so her feet look like they touch the floor. The rest of the magic comes from SEGA's animation and the backlighting so you don't see the net ;)

BTW, good job on the life size Miku! Another mistake that the Live Vocaloid shows messed up was on size. They made Miku and the others have extremely long legs, and they were like 8 - 10 foot XDD

@pbmachinima Actually, I researched Musion for my own purposes a while back, and they are doing something completely different. The Eyeliner is a much more complicated setup than a simple projection screen, and is completely proprietary to Musion—you have to have a representative from the company set it up for you. They won't even let you touch their equipment.

It is my understanding that the Eyeliner is like a "pepper's ghost" effect, rather than a direct projection onto a screen...

@alcexhimvideo My understanding of Musion Eyeliner is that the video is projected on a white surface on the floor and reflected up to a translucent screen which is at a 45 degree angle to the floor. Yes, a Pepper's Ghost-like effect. I was also told that the screen material doesn't work well in a concert environment because sound makes it vibrate and that Gorillaz wasn't using it anymore because of this. Miku requires a very wide stretch of the material so I guess that's no good.

I am so excited to see how this is put together. I have been wanting to do this ever since seeing the official 2010 concert.

The only problem is , I am not sure of the specifications for any of the equipment. Does the projector have to be a certain quality? If you have seen the official 2011 concert, you notice that even on the transparent screen the clarity is superb.

I can't understand how you achieved such good quality from something cheaper than what Crypton is using! Please show us! ^.^

I've been researching how to do this ala Kozmik Krooz'r (watch?v=H3F764GJ0fk) with reflective glass, but this seems a bit more easier to implement in the long run, have you thought of using a Magnifier to increase the range of the projector like i did? I have the projector in my setup only about 6ft away from the glass setup.
