ok. i live in ohio and ive been to cedar point a few times and it kinda happens alot and theres a sign before you get on that says that it might rollback because there is nothing excelling the ride after it launches, so if the track is wet or something, like if it was raining earlier, then it would rollback. nobody can get hurt if it rolls back...it just means that you can ride it again haha

@bigumpi Don't lie. The Dragster won't rollback because of a fat guy getting on. Rollbacks are caused from a change in weather conditions from one launch to the next. The computer records the data from the previous launch, so it believes it knows what to do for the motor to launch it again successfully. But if it all of the sudden becomes windy, rainy, or even sunny, it can change the air around the ride and cause a rollback, so they have to recalculate in order to successfully launch.

I was on that ride twice. It isn't suppose to happen, but there are signs that tell you that this may happen, but the ride is made so that it will gently bring you back down.

The possibility that it would't make it over the top was actually factored into the design, thats why there is a braking system at both the end of the ride and at the beginning, it is also why all those people are still alive. Also just because it doesn't make it over the top doesn't mean your ride is over they will simply launch you again (sometimes the rails are wet or not hot enough but a few launches do the trick).

@frankbradley15 It was never designed to do that. They just got the weight distribution wrong for the first couple of months. I went there a month after it opened and sometimes it would take 3 tries to get over the hill. Now they just have it worked our.

If a rollback happens like that, just be paiteint, they do re-launch the ride in moments. The sign says not to worry, it will go back to launch position.

dropping a 50lb ball vs a 5lb ball they will fall at the same time, this means gravity is constant, so weight will not affect this at all, unless the hill relied on a motor/engine to carry the cart up

rollbacks aren't a danger but they're a pain in the ass for the ride maintenance engineers because it means that the starting roller (the thing that hitches up under the train before it's launched) needs replacing which is a long and expensive job.
