I met Adrian Young the other day. He talked about how nervous he was to do a drum off with travis because Adrian has never done a drum sole before. he doesn't solo during shows like travis does....this is like his first solo ever!!

Adrian Young isn't good like, at all in my opinion... Travis has a background of marching, jazz, punk, ska, and hip hop, which makes him kinda versatile, but that marching snare solo sucked balls.... He could be so much better if he tried to drum like Royster or some jazzy guy... Blink will always be my favorite band though, go trav

Personally I think Bonham and Moon are the best as far as innovation with style and precision but Barker has a high speed, often-changing beat that is unique.. word

He has one of the best styles out there and he is recognized for it. I don't think there is a need to compare him to other good drummers in the world.
As an accomplished player, let me educate the masses in regards to what to watch/listen for when evaluating drum set players. Speed is merely vanity. To gain the speed barker has takes very little real practicing. A drummer's skill is contingent on his/her coordination. Watch the left leg. 4-way coordination is a prime indication of the time and effort put into the art of drumming. Travis doesn't have al whole lot of 4 way coordination. with the said, come to your own personal conclusions...
@smlewis5 And creativity. But that goes hand-in-hand with the coordination...you can usually find incredible creativity in those drummers who are quite coordinated!
This is why I believe drummers who generally contain the most coordination/creativity (and therefore talent) can be heard of most easily in metal and jazz.
@smlewis5 Sad thing is that Barker never asked for any of the fame that he has gained. Watch his interviews he is honestly the most humble drummer I have ever heard. He just has a passion for drumming. He has never once said in an interview that he is a good drummer he is always giving credit to other people. I respect him. Adrian Young isn't good like, at all in my opinion... Travis has a background of marching, jazz, punk, ska, and hip hop, which makes him kinda versatile, but that marching snare solo sucked balls.... He could be so much better if he tried to drum like Royster or some jazzy guy... Blink will always be my favorite band though, go trav

ppl argue that Travis is over rated, etc. etc., but he is technically proficient in many aspects and applies that to a one-of-a-kind style nobody else sounds like and this style appeals to many, so the argument of best EVER is clearly an opinion question but I can see why people see Barker as their personal favorite or best drummer. Personally I think Bonham and Moon are the best as far as innovation with style and precision but Barker has a high speed, often-changing beat that is unique.. word

Travis is good but he's not the best ever. Travis is one of the most commercially successful, but he's a 1%er. There are many great drummers and other musicians that don't even have record contracts.

As an accomplished player, let me educate the masses in regards to what to watch/listen for when evaluating drum set players. Speed is merely vanity. To gain the speed barker has takes very little real practicing. A drummer's skill is contingent on his/her coordination. Watch the left leg. 4-way coordination is a prime indication of the time and effort put into the art of drumming. Travis doesn't have al whole lot of 4 way coordination. with the said, come to your own personal conclusions...

@smlewis5 And creativity. But that goes hand-in-hand with the coordination...you can usually find incredible creativity in those drummers who are quite coordinated!
This is why I believe drummers who generally contain the most coordination/creativity (and therefore talent) can be heard of most easily in metal and jazz.
But that's just me...

@smlewis5 Sad thing is that Barker never asked for any of the fame that he has gained. Watch his interviews he is honestly the most humble drummer I have ever heard. He just has a passion for drumming. He has never once said in an interview that he is a good drummer he is always giving credit to other people. I respect him. No he isn't the greatest but he doesn't claim to be.

Travis is bad as a drummer, but great with having a style and is quite a successful entrepreneur. My only problem is his claim to fame is not for his drumming, but the fact that he drummed for blink182. Why am I not as famous as he is?
