Wow can't we love Tiny Tim and the Beatles without comparing them, two different genres. you are comparing apples to hamburgers. Both are great in their own way.
pretty sure Tiny Tim had more talent than John Lennon. I mean that in a matter-of-fact non militant way, unlike your dying-inside-maybe-you-should-be-dying-on-the-outside-too comment.
@AnAngelScreams I like Tiny but to say he had more talent than Lennon is ridiculous...Tiny was an entertainingly unusual interpretor of classic songs, Lennon was a songwriter, a singer and a musician....also totally non-militant in this reply
Loved this record when it came out! Brave Combo are so great for doing this with him and for many other reasons as well. So glad that Mr. Tim felt free to be free no matter what the true creeps would try to imply. So cool that he passed the way he did, doing the thing he lived for! Thank you PizzaGod for this tasty slice of life! : )
Tiny Tim flourished during the days when novelty hits and colorful off the wall performers actually had a shot at mainstream airplay....before the mish mash music industry took control and look what we have now...watered down sanitized crap in all musical categories to go along with watered down sanitized ears....long live Tiny Tim and all the other brilliant "kooks" out there...
@crdakin pretty sure Tiny Tim had more talent than John Lennon. I mean that in a matter-of-fact non militant way, unlike your dying-inside-maybe-you-should-be-dying-on-the-outside-too comment.
@crdakin Shush, foolish one. John and all of the lads ADORED Tiny. They invited them to be on one of their Christmas albums, and were in the audience when Tiny played the Royal Albert Hall. John had a great sense of humor, and would have gotten a huge hoot out of this. Hate Tiny if you must, but don't project it onto someone who loved him.
I just love that whole album with Brave Combo to pieces. The arrangements are uniformly superb and Tim was finally given the sympathetic production and musical support he deserved. To listen is to dispel any notion of 'novelty act' . He was a guy totally in love with the Great American Songbook and beyond. Gawd Bless.
This is amazingly good. Brave Combo rules Texas, Carl Finch is a musical god and Tiny sounds so sex perverty that I can't help but love it! It needs to get radio airplay.

Tiny never took care of himself -- ergo he died an early death. All the "organic foods" that he allegedly ate was all a publicity stunt to complement his outlandish character. He actually loved fatty foods and lots of pork fat. So much for the "Jewish" argument. Fell over dead on stage while performing one of his corny acts. What a waste of a ukelele genius. He and Arthur Godfrey are now in ukelele heaven.
I'm a big Lauren Agnelli fan with Brave Combo, and of course loved Tim back in the '60S and met him again in NYC in the '80s and '90s. He got some words wrong in this one but overall it's good.
All that really old vaudeville stuff is fascinating. Hope you've read the magazine BLOODY BEAUTIFUL.
He was Jewish enough for the quality of my poor joke :)
"Tiny Tim was born in New York City and grew up in an old apartment building in Washington Heights. He was the son of a Lebanese father (Butros) and a Polish Jewish mother (Tillie Staff) and was raised Catholic." [Wikipedia]
I have been meaning to post two other songs from the Girl Album, but don't have a program currently to make video's on my computers right now. (my old computer bit the dust)
Thank you for posting. I used to write him off as pop silliness, but hear and see more now that I look back. This album pushed me into the "wow, he was an artist" mind set and now all his older stuff shines for me.
I think he actually says why 'did' your mother bring you up right, meaning that if she hadn't the girl would be much more willing. But I could be wrong, this is just my opinion.
No he says, "Why *didn't* ya mother bring ya up right?" It only makes sense because he's singing/complaining about how uppity and high-maintenance she is. If her mother would have brought her up right, she wouldn't be like that. But listen again - you can hear the added sylable - the "n't"...lol
they were SOOO close to playing our wedding, but then they scored a festival in Wisconsin or something ... if you want to pester Matt Groening, just come to one of their LA shows, he almost always attends ...
this is pretty creepy. haha but im not bashing it- its just.... different. it sounds like it could be in a tim burton movie

Tiny Tim - Leonard Cohen and Tom Wait's would have made a classic trio.

I am with you. I love the Beatles, but have a lot of respect for Tiny Tim.
Even though this was recorded past his prime, I still enjoy his take on this classic song.

Hitler must be rolling in his proverbial grave--an effeminate Jew with a megaphone!
[I'm joking--Tiny Tim was actually an astute historian of vaudeville and turn of the century American music. And he had respectable accomplishments.]

Yes, more than one if I am remembering correctly.
Also the best Xmas CD I have, right up there with Leon Redbone.
What is funny is that I use to know Jeffery, Bubba, and Mitch. I also knew Big Bucks who produced the Girl album. I never got to know Carl.
I last saw them in person at a show in Lewisville TX a few years ago [xmas show] Only Jeffrey and Carl from back in the day.
