She died from multiple organ failure due to complications with AIDS. She kept her diagnosis from the public. It is believed that she contracted HIV from her husband. The living world lost a true treasure. God called her home. I am HIV positive and she gives me strength as I fight this disease. God bless you Ofra and thank you for comforting me through these difficult days. I hope to meet you and thank you when God calls me home.... but not yet love! I am winning the fight!

btw, i am not a jew, and i believe that there is only one God, but different religions are calling Him different names. If there is one creator, so it could not be more of them. He made us all. Years ago I sent Ms Haza an email with just a few questions included. To my HUGE surprise she replied back. Little did I know that her passing would soon follow and leave the world in perpetual mourning.
I simply told her how much I enjoyed her music, complimented her wonderful voice, and asked when she would be coming back to USA. Her reply was gracious and that she had no plans at that time for another visit to USA. What a huge loss to the world with her passing.
Most artists have assistants that handle these kind of things, so I always thought that it may have been someone on her support staff rather than Ofra herself. I only wish that I had saved the email.

Years ago I sent Ms Haza an email with just a few questions included. To my HUGE surprise she replied back. Little did I know that her passing would soon follow and leave the world in perpetual mourning.

I simply told her how much I enjoyed her music, complimented her wonderful voice, and asked when she would be coming back to USA. Her reply was gracious and that she had no plans at that time for another visit to USA. What a huge loss to the world with her passing.

There's no doubt genetics shed a lot of light on the subject of who your ancestors were and where they are from. But as interesting as it is, it makes me worried that it allows us to rank who is most Jewish, because this can cause alot of strife and upset in the community.

I dont happen to know the singer's actual roots but Israelis are quite touchy when you suggest that they are not ethincally the decendants of actual Hebrews. There is no reason to believe that Yemenite Jews are any less likely to be decendents from Jewish immgrants.

Because, from what I have read - there is good evidence that modern Jews, black, white or olive all or mostly have actual hebrew ancestors!! For instance Ashkenazim are genetcally closely related to Kurds (an area where ancient Israelites were deported to by the Assyrians), there is such a thing as the Cohen Y chromosome for the priestly caste found among modern Jews and also some african jews have semitic genes!! In other words they're mixed certanly but also the descendants of ancient Hebrews.

yeah the only thing i have to say that is that i think it is a shame that people who practice judaism always have to make the claim that they came from the ancient hebrews... i know a lot of blue eyed blonde eyed ameri-jews and israelis who even have trouble saying they are "descendants" because in reality many of them are just plainly european in origin but converted.

I have met now three christian Jews living as refugees in NZ from Israel, one the daughter of Russian jewish immigrants who converted in Israel in the 70s and left as persecuted refugees and a couple whose parents were central asian jews and converted and had to leave Israel and they had similar stories of racism there. yeah for me personally i have never been to israel but i go off what my family who lives there says. and there is defintely discrimination in that aparthied manner you described. we ethiopians get especially angry over some of the things we hear. but at the end of the day my cousins are still israelis. i think the thing is for israel to lose this whole we are the "jewish race" thing and be more open to its actual diversity. this discrimination between peoples is what is holding israel back!
