there are so many things you can do with the Nikon d7000 from in cam editing change exposures in cam for a pic you already took manual movie settings Nikon uses hidden advantages. canon 7D has very nice vids pics are good Nikon sharper Sony vids picture colors always a little off Nikon color dead on ive had all three going for RED SCARLET google folks

One thing that irritates me the most, is the fact that DSLR and also the a55/a33 must also film in HD over a long periode. For me is a DSLR or DSL primarely to take fotos.

The HD funktion is nice but in my opinion alone for short memory shots.

People that mainly are willing to (long) film, please buy a normal HD-Camera.

I have one, the Sony HDR-CX100 for Filming and it is just fine for that.

No, my a55 with Zeiss and G lenses, is 100% for fotos and that does it superb.

@josechaguaceda I totally agree. Unless you're working for a giant movie / TV studio, HDSLRs are not better than dedicated video cameras. Without all the additional equipments (which sometimes cost more than cameras themselves), HDSLRs are not useful in most filming situations. I use a55 as a walk-around camera, a850 with Zeiss lens for photo assignments, and Panasonic HMC40 for video assignments.

For me is it the! dsl. The lenses that i`m using are the Zeiss 16-80 and the ultimate lens 70-200G. The fotos, are incredible.every time i`m amazed how good the images realy are.

The A55 is an masterpiece. That is the problem with diehard Canon and Nikon fans. It is impossible for many of them, to admit that also Sony has very good camaras and lenses. Canon/Nikon are feeling the pressure from Sony. A new technology level with the inovativ and excellent A55 is born. C&N-guys try the a55!

This camera has superior image quality compared to any on the market it's a true masterpiece..This has more resolution that a Nikon D3 ..The brand of camera you get does not matter they all take excellent pictures . The advantage of Sony you can use Sony lenses plus any Minolta Maxxum AF lenses and they are image stabilized inside the body unlike Canon or Nikon that require lens stabilization...If you are moronic and think a brand name makes better pictures you are a lost cause wasted space..

‎2 reasons why I don't like the a/33/a55 "SLT" concept:

1) the mirror will sit there, attract dust, and require extra cleaning along with the sensor. Unlike the reflex mirror, the stationary SLT mirror's cleanliness is as necessary as the sensor's.

2) if the sensor is SO good that it can take good pictures after the ...translucent mirror has split the light (and therefore the light's intensity), I'd rather have a reflex mirror which would leave me with a much faster shutter speed!

@GATFOCT I have seen you post the exact same thing on two other videos about this camera. I think you are the definition of a Canikon fanboy.

1) Dust on the mirror is like dust on the back lens element, it probably won't show up in pictures. Dust on the sensor is a far bigger problem but that is a problem with all interchangeable lens cameras.

2) The camera only loses 1/3 stop of light due to the pellicle mirror so you're not going to get a much faster shutter speed without it.

If we unmout the lens from the the body there will be a contact to environment air ("dirty air") to the translucent mirror. This situation should affect on the cleanness of the mirror. Does it a feature to clean the mirror as we have normally on its sensor? How it affects the quality of the pictures on the rulong run? Many thanks.

I have a new A33 (about 3 weeks old) and have noticed large out of focus dust spots(?) in all images which are high in contrast, mainly those of the sky and clouds. No matter what lens I use, the spots are still there (about 7 in total across the top half of the image). I have cleaned all my glass, and also used a blower on the mirror (both sides) and have used the blower on the sensor. Have performed sensor cleans via in-camera menu, but STILL these blotches appear in sky shots. ideas anyone???

I usually don't like Sony DSLR's but this camera seems amazing, I might even pick one up myself! The thing that really interest me is the back illuminated sensor(Exmor) they put in this camera, the circuitry is on the back of the sensor so it is more sensitive to light, the sensor won't need to work as hard. Basically that just means sharper images with less image grain!

OMG i got this yesterday after seeing the preview and ITS AMAZING! although i have to wait til my 18th birthday to actually have it ( Jan 18th) and i couldnt wait so i took it out and played around with it- took pics of my brother dancing (hes four) with the continueous capture mode and it was truely amazing! only thing now is that i dont want to put it back in the box :( haha

I bought my A33 a month ago as my very first mirror camera. I am getting used to it and so far i am very satisfied. I just dont quite understand the BULB mode, do I really need to hold finger on shutter while shooting? What a messy picture will be that?

I see only way out in buying remote, which of course have this function based on pressing shuttle on remote 2 times(open-close).

Any other ideas??

I have searched intently this past week for the DSLR that will become my very first. And I can honestly say I probably won't find a better DSLR for this price than this one. This is number one on my wishing list right now and I will have to find something pretty darn amazing if it's going to go down on the list. The tilting LCD is a MAJOR plus because I love taking macro shots and that LCD will help me get those uncomfortable angles shots much easier :D Truly amazing.

This camera seems pretty good for the price,but i think i will wait and see what the latest Pentax K-5 has to offer.They both use the same sony sensor and both offer HD recording,etc.The K-5,with a 18-135mm kit lens included,will retail for $2,295.00 when it hits the shops next week.Definitely an expensive unit.It will be very interesting to see if it can stand and deliver all that is promised?!?

The A55 is bitterly disappointing. The battery life is particularly too short for this type of camera. And when in the recording mode, the camera stops immediately when it detects overheating, and this happens frequently. It turns itself off with you not being aware that the recording has stopped. Today, I returned my a55 in exchange for the Lumix G2 - and whalla. While the G2 is only HD, all of the problems of the Sony kind is avoided.

Sony A55 have a serious issue. The video recording can stop frequently due to overheat. The camera then switches off. The battery life is also disappointing. I haven't used Nikon's D3100 but if you need a trusted advise, best go for the D3100.

@Fa9ooly323 Its all about price range, the a55 dosent have any perks besides the 3D movie and gps. The a33 also has 1080i 60fps and has 7fps burst and panorama. Dont buy the kit lens with either one though, I recommend the 55-200mm telephoto sony lens. [Proud owner of an a33]
