This is such an awesome movie. Mestigoit is a household word in our family. my 6yo boy loves to impersonate him. Its high time this mob made another realistic Native movie. I just bought this DVD again last week coz the old one wore out.

This is overall a very good movie (read the book by Brian Moore which this base upon), filmed outside Lac St. Jean, Quebec. However, the theme is so bleak and the title character is distant and cold, even at the end when he claims he loves the Natives and proceeds to baptize them.
Thumbs up if you thought the little guy reminded you of an Ewok from Star Wars
