I can really feel that Stevie never beat anyone and he never showing off anything at all, He's just making music at that moment with strongly respects to the song or everyone he played with, That's a real Artist a real forever Hero, (sorry for my bad english)
I watched this live in '84. I remember telling my room mate that this was amazing... 3 of my four favorite guitarists on stage at one time. If Jimmy Page had showed up I would have died and gone to heaven! ... I actually saw Stevie live 2 months later. His encore was almost as long as his main show! Great memories
@Atomicflash500 Mostly because Chuck, as legendary a writer as he was,.. is well known for putting on out of tune, half hearted live shows. Not to mention the talent of Vaughan, and the drive of Thorogood's guitar. Berry invented the riffs, but the other guys really play them.
@Ghstwn Making music doesn't mean being in tune (depending on the song) or having a kick-ass instrument. The more I listen to the music the less I notice the show. In fact I would say that usually, the better the show is the worse the music is.
About George Thoroghgood: too much of a heavy a bass line; skillful fretboard work, rhythm, or harmonic dissonance overwhelms the music and can ruin a good song for all except musicians with the same style.
About Chuck Berry: he didn't jump around like a 3 year-old on a trampoline. He also wasn't so serene that he seemed detached from his audience like Andres Segovia or other good classical guitarists.
Balance is the key and Berry is much better balanced than Thorogood.
This video brings back mad memories this was the very first time that i ever saw stevie ray vaughn i thought he was tooooo cool with a tux and that black bolero hat thanks for that post
Thorogood try's to take thunder but Chuck B and Stevie Ray Vaughn sent him back to school Thorogood has never been much any way he should get something original and take some lessons and learn something about respect to those folks who smoked his sorry ASS!!!
@91johnnyg George was only having fun. And for him to do something original? He did. I will admit he's not the greatest player, BUT he did develop a unique sound that NOBODY can say they did that first. When you here a song from him, You know it's HIM! He's bad to the bone! (Pun Intended!)
@oneslowride i read stevie's autobiography. george told stevie he was gonna try and rock the house, stevie told him him shouldnt cause it was about chuck not them.
@91johnnyg Thorogood wants to be John Lee Hooker so bad he cant sleep at night i never really got in to his music hes good and all just never really felt his music
wheres the rest of it? RAAAAH
