Between this song,"Magnetic", "Touch" and "Could It Be Right ", It was one of their last great projects. What a great song this is, featuring The Emotions .
There was good music on this album but the horns were absent. I don't know what Maurice was thinking, but Earth, Wind and Fire without horns is almost criminal.
EWF are the very best band of the world and all universe forever.Listen they music, its true. They music brings me energy, good vibe, everything. With they music is world a nicer..Hudba EWF ma sprevadza vela rokov v dobrom aj v zlom, kazdu minutu, kazdy den.Neviem sa jej nabazit, naplna ma,da sa pocuvat dookola a vzdy v nej clovek najde nieco,co snim znova elektrizuje.Cele EWF je pre mna uplne dokonale,od nametov obalu cd az po hudbu.Vsetky albumy a pesnicky.Peace.EWF conversation about EWF on ewf@post.
I always thought this album was great and never could understand the people who said it didn't rate as well as their older stuff. Then again, those people were a lot older than those of us who were introduced to EWF in the 80's with Raise, Powerlight and Electric Universe. I am sure their parents hated the 70's sound as much as my generation hated the rise of hip hop.
Could it Be Right, from this album, is a masterpiece for me, with an evident touch of David Foster and perfect vocals by Maurice White (wonderful in a time when the freakin' auto tune didn't exist- God I miss those times when a singer had to sing for real...) and Phillip Bailey with his crystal clear high notes...
Despite all the negative critics of their 1983 LP 'Electric Universe', I have to admit that this LP is among their BEST EVER. Who could say it isn't? The most sophisticated Simmons SDS-V drums, marvellous lead vocal sweep and delay effects, meaningful and esotheric lyrics and futuristic, clever arrangements. This album was co-produced by DAVID FOSTER, ROBBIE BUCHANAN, MICHEL COLOMBIER and WAYNE VAUGHN - so don't say anything bad about this jam. It's so original and fantastically clever.
@drjeffamatrixx I always liked this album too - they just had to change their style for a while as had got into a rut. I totally dmissed the negative reviews when it was released as I thought the songs and production were strong. Many reviewers are driven by trends and have had no training in music although it is rumoured that a couple of 'Rolling Stone' journalists know how to play the Triangle.
@drjeffamatrixx Best ever..????...come on man ...I'm one of the biggest EWF fans on earth and Electric Universe" was nowhere near one of their best albums...
@drjeffamatrixx I have the original vinyl from 83 at home and I was confused at the time as to why the critics didn't like it. They had to do something different to blow out the cobwebs.
@drjeffamatrixx As the no. 1 super band of the 70s, 80s 90s there was not one song this group composed that was without substance and energy on the most creative levels.... EWF will always be my no 1 band....
Great band but this is just awful. As the 80's progressed their music got worse. When they did this they were barely recognisable to the brilliant band up to only a couiple of yrs previous. Its no surprise this flopped.
