He is soooo beautiful. My tiel loves getting a bath. i even have to ask her if shes done yet and if she's not she'll put her wings back up saying no i want more.
I have lived with three budgies, two love birds, an African grey and a Maximilian parrot. none of which have given me any contagious disease or any other cause to be worried about my health and I am an asthma sufferer. If your birds have given you any health problems then it's probably because your Bird has not been reared in a disease free, controlled environment by proper breeders who know what they are doing, or the bird is wild caught and you cannot tell what it may have brought with it.
@roythearcher This is so true! Against my better judgement, a pet store Macaw was beckoning me to come pet him- he even had the standard body language of a bird that wanted attention. And I have been around birds all my life. So I slowly put my finger in his cage and he even let me rub his cheeks for awhile, then BAM. He turned into Mr. Hyde. And I went to work next day with not a BANDAID, but a freaking GAUZE. Lol.
What the fuck is with people whinging he needs a bigger bath? Idiocy, I tell you, and you can't even post a vid of a pet doing normal pet things without people whinging about how cruel and horrible you are. Sigh
@normrn64856 Who said he doesn't have a bigger bath? No one. Stop assuming that just because a bird decided to soak in his water dish that he must be deprived of everything. It's just a bird being a bird.
@normrn64856 birds like bathing in their water dish for some reason. I have two cockatiels myself and one of them refuses to bathe anywhere but his water dish, even if it's too small. The other one will bathe in any recipient available, wether it be a glass, a birdie bath or his water container. It's not reeeeeeeeally cruelty.
This Blue & Gold Macaw is in fine shape. Nothing wrong with his feathers, he doesn't look ill. He's having fun being a silly Macaw, that's what they do, that's how they act, silly! Anyone that thinks this bird is in bad shape needs to learn about Macaws.
hey, stupid people...its a macaw....not a duck.. The bowl its playing in is the bowl that he is comfortable with. They dont need a fuckin pond to bathe in!
I think this bird needs to see a vet I am not critisizing or saying you are taking bad care of him birds can randomly get sick but you can tell by er feathers she needs treatment obviously she is stressed out about something or has a skin allergy I do think she needs a bigger bath but thats on you. You have a very beautiful bird though I hope to get one soon thanks for sharing the video :) God bless
@multiashhole I really don't see what you are seeing here. Are you a bird owner or have much experience ?I have had birds since '85 and handle raptors of all kinds on a daily basis at a wildlife rescue center - this is a beautiful and happy Macaw having fun
@MrRelhed I wasnt being rude in any way I think that her feathers need to be fuller thats all I was saying she looks kinda bald. I have had birds all my life they are extremely smart...well Except when I was raising ostriches they are about the dumbest bird I have ever dealt with.I am not trying to get into a pissing contest I havent dealt with very many bird people I do not know it all and I am not saying I was right I was just stating my opinion...
Babe enjoys the small bowl splash as well. The tub is okay, but she would rather do just what your is doing now. I see comments here that well, never mind. They just do not get it do they...
Babe picks from 22" 18" 12" 10" 6" 4", the 4 or six most everytime, sometimes she likes to be sprayed sometimes not as in my response video. Showers with me are her favorite.
@kikiylful This is the way birds bathe. i give mine a big bowl to bathe in but they want the little bowls. All my parrots bathe like this. if you can't see the rest of their house, how do you know he doesn't have enough toys? same for the food. the bird is in good feather...he's just fluffed up for his bath.
@tiggerny88 lol he has a big stand.. and by the looks of how messy the floor is, they rule the house. My cockatoo (and any parrot I've seen) likes to be weird and have fun during his bath, it isn't stressed
Birds always take baths in the tiniest cups they can find. As long as there's water in it they will dive in. I've had my Indian Ringneck do it in half filled tall glass of water sitting out on the table.
@junglecat80 I don't think people who havent kept birds know how skinny and flexible their bodies are under all those feathers, especially when the bird fluffs them up to bathe. I had a parakeet that used to roll around in the bathroom sink when she felt like a bath.
I think it's fairly obvious this is just a water dish that he's using because it's handy. My birds will try and fit in drinking glasses when they're in the mood for a bath and they're not near their large water dishes.
This poor bird needs a decent size dish to take a bath. He must be suffering trying to bath in his water dish. Some people should learn before having parrots.
I'm curious how many of these people who are complaining about the size of the water bowl have even had birds? I can give my macaw a bath in our full sized tub and not even 30 minutes later he will be back in his own water bowl splashing around. He enjoys it and its hurting nothing, so what is the big deal?
@junglecat80 agreed! lol My birds will get sprayed every morning and by mid afternoon they're attempting to dunk themselves in their water dishes! lol My macaw gets baths in the tub but will throw water on herself from glass the same day!
@junglecat80 agreed even my little sun conure would rather bathe in her water...honestly she does a better job in her small water dish. she gets soaked I dont even know how she does it. I guess they like bathing in their comfort zone...I know personally I'd rather bathe at home than at the YMCA lol
@junglecat80 I too have lived with birds that, rather than use a decent sized bath or bowl of water we provided to bathe in, Insist on using their (relatively) small drinking water dish!
Why?....who knows, only the birds themselves and they ain't about to tell us!
Like you say, they're not hurting themselves or they would not do it !!
It's a pain to have to keep filling their water up every time they do though... (usually after you've just changed it!)
this looks and sounds like the bird i once had!!! i had to put her up for consighnment, at the pet store because i didnt have enough room anymore. i was having a new baby, and couldnt have her anymore, but i sure do miss her.

He's probably just extremely happy, and just repeats what he hears. That's so cool you let your parrot just chill everywhere. I would, but my parakeet would get lost probably xD I want a parrot so bad when I grow up!
@TheMuffinBurgler Simply having a bird in the kitchen at all is disgusting. Particles can and do float in the air unseen by the human eye...like dander and small droplets of residual pee and poop on the feathers that can become airborne when the bird shakes. Have you ever smelled dog poop? Tiny poop particles going up your nose. Now that bird's tiny poop particles, and dander are flying onto the counter tops and whatever food and drink are exposed.
@K9ProSportUSAdotcom And that doesn't bother me. Humans shed skin and sneeze spit and snot and fart all over their kitchens. There's also bugs and rodents and dog and cat hairs and a million other things that can dirty a kitchen. You just can't avoid dirt, so it's easier not to obsess over it.
@K9ProSportUSAdotcom You obviously don't know anything about parrots. There are some species like cockatoos, cockatiels, and african greys that produce dander. Macaws not so much. Especially when they do bathe everyday. Their poop has no smell. Just to let you know there are many bird rescues out there that have birds all over their house and are trying to take care of other peoples problem parrots that don't get the good treatment that these birds have.
@MrRelhed Very true...but phobic? Not so much. An animal shedding dander and feces in a kitchen is always a bad idea...especially a tropical animal and possible carrier of tropical parasites and diseases. I have fish from the Amazon and reptiles. I wear gloves to handle the herps and gloves when cleaning the aquariums. That's common sense hygeine. Having a wild animal in your kitchen shaking droplets of urine, feces, dander and water over your counter tops is the opposite of sense and hygeine.
@MiNennuka Yes, I am from the place where we don't die from 3rd World diseases because we wash our hands and have clean water and don't let birds from rainforests shake water and urine and bird droppings all over our counters where we prepare food we feed ourselves and children. If N. America gets a bad wrap for being clean that's one I'm willing to accept! I don't want any tropical diseases or parasites from a bird...an animal famous for carrying both second behind only reptiles.
@MiNennuka One word: Salmonella...I wouldn't handle my bird with gloves, but I would clean the cage with latex gloves on. Google "zoonotic diseases"...I know of people who've gotten sepsis from having a cut and cleaning fish tanks, I've known people get parasites from fish from S. America. I've known several people who've gotten salmonella from herps and birds.
I'm so sorry that all the people you know get sick. I worked with birds and people that own birds and I never heard anything like it. I live in Canada but I have worked in Venezuela, Cuba, Dominican Republic and Spain and I knew hundreds of people that own birds and it seams that I only encounter the lucky ones and you only the unfortunates. SORRY
Please do not forget to wear gloves whenever you wipe your but, OOOHHHH, I remember you wash your hands after. DUH 101
@MiNennuka Okay so you're saying that people don't get salmonella from pet birds and herps and that it's not recommended to wear gloves when cleaning aquariums? Oh, okay, so you're the expert who trumps all the others. Gotcha. Also, are you implying you don't wash your hands after you take a crap? Anybody wanna shake hands with this guy then let their parrot shake it's bath water all over your food preparation surfaces be my guest! Not I though!
What I'm implying is that YOU DO NOT KNOW THAT AFTER OR BEFORE FOOD PREPARATION YOU HAVE TO DO SOME CLEANING (SURFACES AND HANDS) SAME AS BEFORE AND AFTER USING THE BATHROOM. It is just common sense. I never talked about aquariums becouse I do not know anything about fish. And yes some people get sick from birds but with some little care and "common sense" (you do need get ridiculous) you'll be fine.
@MiNennuka Common sense is to make sure the only birds in your kitchen are ready for the oven and not alive and flinging water droplets all over your kitchen in an invisible shower of filth that probably coats everything in a 10 foot radius...but sure, you win.
Hi, I have the same exact macaw her name is peanut she is 3 months and she just learned to say hello... She is in her cage to sleep only at night because she sleeps like a baby but other than that she is out of her cage on a perch and walking all over the house. She doesn't destroy nothing she is a good bird, well thats cuz I raised her since she was born...
Just a word of caution for those wearing headphones... You may want to rip them off at :04....

I think he is cursing because he can't get his whole body in there!!! He wants more than just a head bath!

Good God I hope there's a second kitchen where you actually cook and eat...that's disgusting...
K9ProSportUSAdotcom 5 months ago
@K9ProSportUSAdotcom How is it disgusting? The bird isn't dragging poop all over the counters and plates.
TheMuffinBurgler 4 months ago
@TheMuffinBurgler Simply having a bird in the kitchen at all is disgusting. Particles can and do float in the air unseen by the human eye...like dander and small droplets of residual pee and poop on the feathers that can become airborne when the bird shakes. Have you ever smelled dog poop? Tiny poop particles going up your nose. Now that bird's tiny poop particles, and dander are flying onto the counter tops and whatever food and drink are exposed.
K9ProSportUSAdotcom 4 months ago
@K9ProSportUSAdotcom And that doesn't bother me. Humans shed skin and sneeze spit and snot and fart all over their kitchens. There's also bugs and rodents and dog and cat hairs and a million other things that can dirty a kitchen. You just can't avoid dirt, so it's easier not to obsess over it.
TheMuffinBurgler 4 months ago
@K9ProSportUSAdotcom You obviously don't know anything about parrots. There are some species like cockatoos, cockatiels, and african greys that produce dander. Macaws not so much. Especially when they do bathe everyday. Their poop has no smell. Just to let you know there are many bird rescues out there that have birds all over their house and are trying to take care of other peoples problem parrots that don't get the good treatment that these birds have.

@K9ProSportUSAdotcom You do realize people shed just as much as animals -most of the dust in your house is YOU . Quit being so phobic
MrRelhed 1 month ago
@MrRelhed Very true...but phobic? Not so much. An animal shedding dander and feces in a kitchen is always a bad idea...especially a tropical animal and possible carrier of tropical parasites and diseases. I have fish from the Amazon and reptiles. I wear gloves to handle the herps and gloves when cleaning the aquariums. That's common sense hygeine. Having a wild animal in your kitchen shaking droplets of urine, feces, dander and water over your counter tops is the opposite of sense and hygeine.

@K9ProSportUSAdotcom I did overlook the kitchen

You must be from North America
MiNennuka 1 month ago
@MiNennuka Yes, I am from the place where we don't die from 3rd World diseases because we wash our hands and have clean water and don't let birds from rainforests shake water and urine and bird droppings all over our counters where we prepare food we feed ourselves and children. If N. America gets a bad wrap for being clean that's one I'm willing to accept! I don't want any tropical diseases or parasites from a bird...an animal famous for carrying both second behind only reptiles.

Ony ONE word IGNORANT
MiNennuka 4 weeks ago
@MiNennuka One word: Salmonella...I wouldn't handle my bird with gloves, but I would clean the cage with latex gloves on. Google "zoonotic diseases"...I know of people who've gotten sepsis from having a cut and cleaning fish tanks, I've known people get parasites from fish from S. America. I've known several people who've gotten salmonella from herps and birds.
K9ProSportUSAdotcom 4 weeks ago
@K9ProSportUSAdotcom
DUH 101
MiNennuka 3 weeks ago
@MiNennuka Okay so you're saying that people don't get salmonella from pet birds and herps and that it's not recommended to wear gloves when cleaning aquariums? Oh, okay, so you're the expert who trumps all the others. Gotcha. Also, are you implying you don't wash your hands after you take a crap? Anybody wanna shake hands with this guy then let their parrot shake it's bath water all over your food preparation surfaces be my guest! Not I though!
K9ProSportUSAdotcom 3 weeks ago
@K9ProSportUSAdotcom
MiNennuka 3 weeks ago
@MiNennuka Common sense is to make sure the only birds in your kitchen are ready for the oven and not alive and flinging water droplets all over your kitchen in an invisible shower of filth that probably coats everything in a 10 foot radius...but sure, you win.
