How many of these are there now? I have seen videos of dozens of mechanical spiders, every size, some human powered. Have they advanced the design enough to make them practical yet?
@3xplex The V8 goes into an unlocked differential which powers the two sides via half-shafts that connect to the rotational mechanism of the legs at the middle. Each half-shaft has a brake on it connected to two brake handles.
So the driver simply hits the gas and if he wants to go right he pulls the right brake handle. This makes the left legs go faster and the right legs go slower, turning the vehicle.
