  • haha! OF COURSE NOT! USE YOUR HEAD!!

  • if you look he puts the knife in his poket and then slams his hand on pen which explodes the fake blood and sticky on the card, i have no idea how he did that tho having the right card....

  • pasue @1:37, there is one card out from the line of cards...the same queen that teller stabs first

  • Pauze exactly on 2:08 There's no knife.

  • C'mon, ya'll, I can't be the only one who found the 'my first allegiance in the world is to my parter' really sweet. :)

  • THATS MY DAD!!!! really no lie

  • *nods*

  • Good thing they picked straight face mc jackass out of the audience for this trick

  • @BrookisBabbling i know right it was even the same cards that time round too.

  • They just re-did this trick on ITV tonight, identical.

  • What's on Penn's finger at 0:47?

  • @ZCLoki He has one nail painted red - his Wikipedia article mentions it.

  • Comment removed

  • What's on Penn's finger?

  • "and now its lost in the deck right" "*laughs*" "OF COURSE ITS NOT! USE YOUR HEAD!" lol its so funny to see a magician just blatantly say "im going to lie to you up here, dont believe a thing i say and look critically at everything i do"

    its a good policy.

  • Guys do we really care how he does it -.-. Its amazing to watch. penn and teller are my new fav magicians

  • If u stop it at 2:11 you can see something between his hand and the card! im not trying to be one of those jerks that always point out how the trick it done but this is the first time i noticed lol

  • Look at 2:06 you can clearly see teller switching knifes

  • @frumpatronics looks like he put the knife away, can't see the handle after that

  • Does Teller every talk?

  • @southpark6fan

Not always -- if he does, it's mostly offscreen (or visible screams of pain if he's onscreen). Exceptions to this include the Audio-Animatronic Teller trick and (many years later) his mention of Desert Bus For Hope at Comic-Con 2010.

  • that laugh at 2:00 sounded like Chris Farley!

  • is there a video of teller talking anywhere? im intereted to see what he's like.

  • @IL0veMoz Try looking at Penn and Teller get killed part 9/9 on here :D x

  • @IL0veMoz There sure are. The guy is incredibly talented. Check this one out: watch?v=J5x14AwElOk

  • also Penn said the reason Teller first started to be silent is because he figured that say if you get heckled and don't say anything at all the hecklers just get bored and stopped... so he just used it for there act.

  • When was this?

  • MORE BLOOD!!!!!!!

  • The fucking comments are funnier than the videos, half the time.

  • THAT WAS AWESOME!!!

  • I love the pair of 'em.

  • Nice work, cameraman. Give away the gimmick with the angle.

  • Why does Teller seems pretty bitchy here? LOL!

  • This would be a great 5th Birthday party trick

  • @lordofwrath88 And the kids just love it. Don't they?

  • Reminds me a little of the amazing jonathan.

  • Is it just me or do penn and teller fans have a clothing lag of a decade?

  • Epic mullet is epic.

  • Epic mullet is epic.

  • George Michael wannabe needs a better sense of humor. He was too cool to laugh at the end there. He must have just found out the real George Michael likes cock and balls, and was pissed.

  • @falconflyer34 , HAHA. Fucken George Michael.

  • Actually, looking at him again, I'm thinking more like the drummer or lead singer from Def Leopard.

  • Simple card trick. Great presentation! I don't know how he did the knife part of the act.

  • Well, from what I could see Teller doesn't actually have anything in his hand and he just smacks the back of Penn's hand.

Penn had a block of something (possibly containing the ink/dye and the blade (Perhaps retractable) hidden in the palm of his hand.

When Teller hit Penn's hand it triggered the knife and the ink/dye.

Remember that Penn and Teller are masters at slight of hand ^_^

  • easy, the blade of the "knife" was hidden in that block of wood, ready to go.The opening was covered by the box the deck of cards comes in.Watch Penn slide that box out of the way just before he slides his hand in the spot where the box used to be.Penn already has the guy's card under his palm as he slides his hand into place over the hole. The knife blade must have a blood capsule and some adhesive on it.

  • Penn said in an interview that he plants the blood pack on the front of the card and it breaks when he slams his palm hard enough into the fake knife blade to break it.

  • @olddeuteronomy what interview?

  • When Teller smashes his hand, it pushes Penn's hand against the top of the fake blade, breaking the blood capsule and sticking it to his the card that's stuck to his palm. He must have had some adhesive on his palm too, so the card would stick.

  • cool

  • Still has his pink fingernail, I see. Haha

  • Actually, it's red. But yeah, he does. ^^

  • oh shit they had me going for a second i thought Penn was really mad at him lol

  • does Teller ever say anything?

  • Not in the act. He does interviews sometimes, but he's known for not talking.

  • he's a mime (not the kind you're thinking of)

  • even in babylon 5

  • he doesnt speak in the act out front but his voice is heard occasionally in the act... but he can speak... its pretty much a gimmick in the widest sense of the phrase

  • From what I heard, the 'Teller doesn't talk' gimmick started way back in college with him, when he realized that while doing his act silently he got heckled by fewer people.

  • The funniest thing about this and the bit preceeding it is that Penn is making fun of Tellers dodgy moves and when he's meant to do it properly he pockets the knife so damn clumsily even the guy in the blue shirt would have noticed it

  • lmao! I didnt notice that. Awesome catch!:)

  • Thanks :)

A friend and I are doing a cosplay as P&T in April so I've been studying this trick and others so we can perform them

  • ....How do you cosplay REAL people.......?

  • We're not cosplaying real people, we're cosplaying as their stage persona's.

I'm not going to be silent and smirk allot and my mate is going to yell at people and we're going to be doing magic tricks for people, this is one of them. oh and we're going to be wearing grey business suits

  • Niiice yell at people, It's really calming I hear XD

  • Just realised I made a typo in my reply It's meant to be "I am going to be silent" not "I'm not"

But yeah yelling at people is calming, lol

  • FUCK YEAH IT IS! FUCK! XD

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • o genial!!!!!!! que chingon

  • This is the best card trick EVER!!!

  • That guy who was participating was so dull

  • @iiDanny He is Teller man! he is supposedo act dull for humour!

  • @iiDanny Cocaine. It's a hell of a drug.

  • @iiDanny it was a dummy i think

  • @iiDanny that's Teller, you idiot! that's y it's Penn & 'Teller'

  • @iiDanny it's all part of their act, they are both top of the game magicians :D

  • 2:05-2:08 he does a knife switch. he puts his hand on his pocket. lol awesomo trick tho!

  • He doesn't swap knives he just pockets the knife and stabs at Penn's hand with his fist. You can see Teller slide his hand away at 2:17.

I wouldn't have been looking unless I saw your comment tho.

There is a section of the table that was cut out and hiding under the deck box. (You can see Penn slide the box over and place his hand on the spot where it was. You can see the strip of wood behind the card.)

A packet of blood in there too that busted when he pushes his hand down on the table.

  • wow ur right. i would have never noticed :D

  • That's a pretty sweet mullet.

  • I love these guys

  • owned

  • I just shat upon the floor right next to my computer.

  • how did penn get that on his hand

  • palm.. you can see him putting it in his pocket earlier

  • Holy shit.

  • Fuck you dumbass!

  • wow, butthurt much?

  • omfg dude. you say butthurt too? dude we have to chill.

  • penn is a magician too, just not nearly as accomplished as teller.

But....hes also not supposed to be. He is more of a form of misdirection and entertainer then anything else.

  • agreed. i love penn, but his main reason for being there is to misdirect, as you said. which he does very well. :)

  • Misdirection is a skill as crucial and as hard to master as sleight of hand in my opinion.

  • he maybe is not that skilled as teller bu he is a proper magician

  • People, you are looking a video. Obviusly, you can see how they do it, and even how to do it better. But you should imagine you are watching it right there, and enjoy it. If you try to put away the misticism, why are you looking magic tricks on Internet?

  • that guy looks so unimpressed lol wtf?

  • they randomly picked him out of the crowd earlier, you can tell he didn't want the attention

  • He's still miffed about being insulted :P :D

  • I know, but what confuses me is why he got a seat (almost front-row?) to the fucking taping of the show if he had no idea what their act is like! So many fans would give anything to see them live or have been at any of their many live tapings! He obviously couldn't have been a big fan if he wasn't prepared for the fact that Penn might be sarcastic and insulting...

Also, totally saw that coming (I think we all did), but great clip, love Penn and Teller!

  • It's worth noting that this show was before they became really popular, AND this was in the UK where pretty much no one had any idea who they were.

  • teller at 2:08 doesnt have a knife

  • At 2:13, what's the thing behind the card?

  • I Think Its A Blood Pack Or Another Deck Of Cards?

Well, I Dont Really Know. LOL!

  • A piece of the wood is an insert into the little table they have, u can see when his hand is pulled out that there's a square hole missing, i'm guessing they have some kind of adhesive on it to enable him to lift it up after he presses his hand down onto it.

  • penns hand ya retard!

  • its fake blood patch thing

  • To stick, it to, his greas, -ey lit, tle head! lol

  • The reason for the nail polish on Penn's ring finger is because his mother always said he had amazing hands. She said they were good enough to be painted. Penn has the nail polish on his ring finger as a tribute to his mother.

  • I love they're twisted tricks

  • Anybody notice at 0:49 Penn has red blood on his left ring finger?

  • i think it is nail polish

  • It could be, it does seem to dissapear though.

  • hey always has that one his finger

  • xlm, interesting, I never noticed.

  • he explains why in one of the episodes of "pen says" look it up

  • Lmao, the audience member didn't look too impressed or even remotely amused.

  • Look at Teller at 2:07 at this point he points his hand at the back and when pulls it back out look closely... the knife is not there anymore! !

  • The Knife doesn't have a handle if you look closely enough. The only that "got" Penn.

  • thats not the point, that even isn't the point of magic at all, the point is to entertain people.

you can do the most simple trick in the world but if you entertain people better then enyone, you are the best magician in the world.

  • A somewhat overly romantic posture, but not without it's appeal.

In my opinion magicians must master both the arts of deceit and flawless presentation.

You can have a magician who does magic just because it pleases him and only him, or he enjoys tricking people (in a healthy way).

  • what's the point of you saying this ?

  • I hope that's a joke.

  • That's a tribute to his mother, Laevi.

  • Wow, you are genious of seeing that, I couldnt see that even if I stoped the video...

Are you really that dumb? He was just jokeing, ofc he didn't stab a hnife through his hand, and everyone at this show could see that....

  • What the hell are you people talking about?

I thought it was interesting to see how the trick might work. I have no idea what the exact technique is or whether or not what I saw had anything to do with it. I dont understand the reactions im getting...

You guys think I believe its real? Seriously these responses dont make sense...

  • Teller is amazing, he's so fast

  • the dude in the blue shirt looks like lars mattson

  • tell quickly ditches the knife and quickly comes down not to give the adience a chance to see he no longer has the knife, while penn adjusts a rare eath magnet over hole that teller covers by fanning the cards duringthe trick.

  • WTF

  • Great sleight of hand. Teller is amazing. And do not pretend I am spoiling anything. I love these guys and I just think Tellers skills should be appreciated.

  • Kool, *****

  • Wonder if that spectator could be less enthusiastic !?

  • pause at 2:12 and you can see something between the card and Penn's hand

  • it's a magnet.

  • yea you're right! i think its a knife

  • It's a magic trick. Everyone knows it's fake. It's a skill of trickery.

  • 0.40

  • i kniw how do they do it..i tried doing this once and boom!there goes my pinky!

  • i miss them :(

  • That was so awesome and funny.

  • That made me laugh my fucking ass off!

  • whoa gore... I laught on this one

  • GO FUCK YOUR DAD YOU QUEER

  • One of the greatest American exports I've ever seen.

    Also, PhuqueU fails at life.

  • Penn and Teller are awesome!!!

  • XD

    Amazing trick.

  • these guys are hilarious!

  • I guess im the only one that watched it just to enjoy the comedy and interaction between them. The rest of u clearly wanted to see who could yell out that its fake first. No shit moron. It aint fucking merlin. Its a god damn show u jack off.

  • Hell man, they are one of my favourite pair.. They add gore, magic tricks and black satire into one show. What's not to love?!

  • I completely agree with you. The comedy is the best part of this trick. And if you watch the first part of the trick they point out it's all fake.

  • Why is everyone trying to explaine how the trick is done? WHO CARES!?!?

    Just enyoy the magic guys...

  • to stick it to his greasy little head!!

hahaha i laughed so hard i got spit on the screen lol

  • There's something boxlike behind the card in Penn's hand. Anyone else see it?

  • at 2:06 u could see teller switch the knife from his pocket as penn distract the audience! who believes me?

  • There is no knife in Teller's hand. watch closely.

  • exactly... lol

    HIS GREASY LIL HEAD!!!

  • so sorry to interupt!!!

  • "who believes me?"

Durr I gone done thought he actually knifed a fellar there!

  • OH GOD JESUS! Is that your card?

    Lol.

  • in 2:11 theres a little bag lol so it might be ketchup

  • That'd have to be some nasty ketchup. fake blood is usually made with Carol oil, chocolate syrup and red food dye. It's probably what they used for it.

  • Fake or not, seeing something like that makes me cringe.

  • hahaha

OF COZ NOT !! USE UR HEAD!

  • "And one more is placed right across the center to stick it to his GREASY LITTLE HEAD!"

  • I love how they make a regular trick so different

  • That was so awsum

  • what i want to know is what they used for blood

  • Probably just stage mix blood

  • Possibly cows blood, or thickend cherry Kool-Aid.

  • most people use corn syrup with food coloring

  • really? cool.

  • plus a dash of penut butter or chocolate syrup to make it darker and a little more opaque
