Man things have really changed! Actors actually had to have talent then. When you think about all of the shows of this era, they were all CLASSICS! These were shows that could make you laugh until you pissed your pants! This is before they let political correctness rule the airwaves. They said what was funny, all in good taste. Could you imagine politically correct Fred Sanford??? It wouldn't have lasted one season!!

@daveftd1983 Not really. It's a matter of taste and familiarity. I've seen Steptoe and Son and it's funny but not familiar. But Sanford and Son is both since most people in the States grew up watching Sanford and Son. One is not better or worse than the other.

In my opinion Sanford and Son is just boring, the language sounds horrible, the jokes weak maybe because I can't identify with that stereotypical 70's American "black" community at all.
