  • holy crap this is sooooooo effing good O.O

  • cool

  • What software do you use, my software came free with my graphics tablet and its pretty bad, i can even draw a straight line that's not all blurry if i zoom in a bit =/. I'm only 14 so i can't really afford photoshop but if you could suggest a good alternative that would be very helpful thank you (i am a budding character designer)

    Thank you!

  • @Vollum5 *can't

  • @Vollum5 Did you watch the videos with sound? No offense. He mentions that this is corel Painter X.

He uses Photoshop CS5 and corel Painter. Mostly he uses Photoshop for his work stuff.

  • @Vollum5 Try Gimp or get a job and buy Photoshop

  • @Vollum5 Autodesk scetchbok pro. All students can get it free. I used it, and it's great :)

  • @Sainsbo123456789 how do i get autodesk for free then? =D

  • @Vollum5 just google Autoesk Scetchbook pro student version an you should get it :)

  • ops how can i get that brush? it looks smooth.

  • what brush did you use? i have painter x as well.

  • Zombie knights? Dark souls!

  • i like raw talent paining to not much things from photoshop if you know wat i mean this is raw talent ^_^

  • What program are you using to paint? Do you not use PS to sketch and paint?

  • me gusta

  • wow i need to enroll there

  • Why use painter instead of 100% photoshop?

  • @Warriorjemgi why not??

  • @Warriorjemgi painter is better for drafting

  • What is your opinion on the brush tool in Photoshop CS5? I've been trying to learn about how to make a clean lineart with it and the sensitivity of the brush in the program itself is a little too fluid. Any advice on how to get better at digital lineart?

  • Oh wow, i would think with that about of accuracy it would have been a cintiq, I'm impressed.

  • I'm curious if you're using a cintiq or intuous?

  • @musiquedecor

Feng and FZD students are currently using both Wacom Intuos 3 and 4. There are not much difference between the two.

    Hope this helps. :)

  • @FZDSCHOOL do you guys have dvd courses?

  • when your doing your lectures in class about this are the students sitting at desks just watching for the two and a half hours or are they actually on their own computers also doing the same drawing in a way like the"zombie knight" but their own version while your during your version and talking about it.

  • Great video! Do you have a video with the sketching method you use at the start to build the two knighs?

  • @70cagoni there not going to show you it. He runs a school and isn't going to show you stuff he teaches his students

  • I could not understand the names of the 2 sketches styles: Kaiter and lose? Could you please write down those names, please =[) Thank you.

  • @MrsAntilope

I think you misheard what Feng Zhu said.

Kaiter = Tighter. Lose = Loose

When he says a loose sketch, he means basically sketching out the idea, the pose, not caring if its neat or anything. It's very loose.

A "tighter" not "kaiter", drawing, is where you begin to refine the lines of the sketch, to make it more readable and clear to the audience.

  • @Romancrapper Thank you very much, sorry ...ageing I'm becoming a bit deaf, plus been italian I do not know all the technical words in English. Sorry for that and thank you again. =[)

  • It was very very interesting, I'm going to look at them all ! hank you very much for sharing Your knowledge =[)

  • What's the size of the "canvas" you're using?

  • where can i download the brush for sketching that you use ?

  • @dubvikdnb Just use the default round brush. Brushes are just tools, but the best way to learn is to just use the default round brush.

  • Are you drawing all that with your mouse or do you use some sort of a tablet?

  • Can u make the hi res versions available for download???

  • DO YOU HEAR THE VOICES TOO?

  • I just watched the three videos, and I enjoyed every single second - extremely impressive! And what a nice style, usually I only watch photo realistic speed paintings but this is fantastic! And then I saw a comment on the third video saying a user watched the video again just to listen to you talk, and I realized my computer was muted all the time... But I'll gladly watch them again - unmuted, of course =) I'll definately check out the rest of your videos!

  • I love you Feng.

  • thanks for posting the demos, very appreciated. Always glad to see artist willing to share ideas.

  • did you give "idrawgirls" some lessons or why do you guys have the same style as him? thats epic btw :D

  • @Dakary01 I hate idrawgirls so much

  • @xAxiom lol why? Just another artist trying to share his work. His vids aren't all that informative as compared to feng but he has quite a bit of useful info on his blog.

  • did you give "idrawgirls" some lessons or why do you guys have the same style as him? thats epic btw :D

  • Too good for gimp? 50 tags but no gimp tag. That's cool I still will watch all your videos and subscribe ;)

  • THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!! I really like your work.

  • This is so fuckin smexy.

  • Amazing! I hope one day I'll be able to do this :'D

I really enjoy watching all of your videos, they're inspiring!!

  • IS there an advantage to using painter to sketch instead of Photoshop to do the beginning stages?

  • @SachaKaBoom It has a bit better respond time from the tablet, barely anything thought, and it's JUST for painting so that's what that program does best, unlike photoshop, which is still really good.

  • Great tutorial and I really enjoy the little bit of psychology you throw into these. It really helps define the thought process a little to see hints at how other designers are thinking when working on something.

  • @vidshank

The brush is from Painter 4.0 to Painter 10. You can't import brushes from Painter into PS. I hope that's not what i said in the video :P

In anycase, I only use Painter to sketch. For everything else (99% of the time), i use photoshop. The brush engine in PS is pretty impressive as well.

  • @Fengdesigns Hello feng. I've notice you use a custom camel hair brush. I import the camel hair brush from painter 5 to 11 but after try many settings it doesn't look the same as yours. Can you help me?

  • Thank you! These are very informative and instructive! :)

  • OMG feng i always use to wonder where you got this one particular brush..I dint know you can bring it from painter...any insight on how to do that would be great...great work here as usual....you are very generous!!

  • i think it requires a whole pack of fundamental knowledge, thanks Master Feng)))

  • this is gold.. i guess doin these drawings requires a lot of 3D thinking?
