  • Love the music on the flying part.

  • I'm now playing N64 games...on PSP!

    Emulators FTW!

  • why are nintendo haters on a nintendo tech demo vid lol

  • It looks like and N64 emulator on today's hardware. The N64 never looked like that.

  • trilinear mipmap interpolation FTW.

  • many ps1 fanboys don't even know that n64 had that.

  • Damnit, just got ripped off - bought a new GTX560, should have held out a bit longer for an N64 Ultra :( Maybe I'll get one when the price comes down a bit.

  • Nintendo should always include twice the ram they intend to use, Nintendo is notoriously stingy with their hardware.

the wii was 2 generations behind the ps3/xbox360, and the wii U will be 2 generations behind the xbox720/PS4 in 2012/13...

  • @foxsux6000 Explain to me how the Wii is two generations behind the 360 and PS3, when it slightly outperforms every console from LAST generation. Can you not count? From a control standpoint, Nintendo has always been ahead of everyone, aside from the Gamecube controller which was pretty lame IMO. Wii U will be the best console ever. Microsony will come out with the same old versions of their clunky, outdated dual analog stix while Nintendo offers that, as well as the tablet & remote.

  • @pearlmax the wii is exactly the same hardware as the gamecube, most games even are PS2/xbox1 ports and are limited to 3.8GB in size (which is less than both the xbox/PS2)

the Wii U is also a slightly better than an xbox360, but it won't matter once the xbox720/PS4 is out because it will look as lame as the wii does now.

and that tablet thing is unusable without the Wii U, you can do the same on the PS3/PS4 with a PSP vita and you aren't forced into owning a useless piece of crap.

  • @foxsux6000 first of no, wii doesn't have the same hardware (but close to). And you cant know how much better the WiiU is compared to current consoles (as of yet there is no hardware released and the videos released were from a prototype).

And the main problem with the wii was lack of good third party coverage, not the console it self (only by the extend for ease of porting). So don't judge by prototypes and guesses, only by facts. (And PS4 is still officially planned for 2015)

  • @relo999 the console itself was the reason why 3rd party didn't bother, it had fixed-function hardware and xbox360/ps3 games couldn't run on it (porting from the PS3/xbox360 to the wii hasn't ever been done...)

  • @foxsux6000

Correct, that PARTIALLY true (as some developers did make wii games). Its main drawback was that it focused on a whole different market then the ps3 and 360 does.

And also as a designer I always thought that porting is just a cheap way to make more money, but thats just my personal opinion.

  • @pearlmax the wii U like the current wii will be in a cupboard unused and covered in dust, because there are just not going to be the quality of first party titles Sony has.

  • @foxsux6000

Sony doesn't have first party games... (As Sony doesn't have a game development department they cant make first party games. Only second party games (still Sony focused, but not part off Sony)) So you say having a WiiU is worse than having nothing. And for you also the same tale I told to Foxsux6000.

  • @relo999 haha google: Sony Computer Entertainment...

Uncharted, God Of War are all not first party games (ROFL)

all the demo's Nintendo showed of the wii U in their video was footage ripped from the PS3/Xbox360 because they said it will look exactly like them (go google that also)

  • @foxsux6000

There is a difference between publisher and developer you know? so still all second party.

Not all only the third party game footages so again your statement is false.

  • @relo999 the wii U will cost over $399 the PS3/xbox360 will drop to $179 and they perform equally and will have all the same games (nobody cares about Mario/Zelda crap outside of Nintendo trolls)

  • @foxsux6000

all pure guesses. (And I see you have no insight on how the video game market works, as I work in it I do to some extend.)

  • im glad they dropped the ultra and pushed the release a few more years to work on it more

  • I don't think we can recreate what people felt when they saw this. Even photorealism wouldn't be as much of a gap as between 2D and 3D.

  • psx had worse graphics and won, ps2 had the worse graphics again and outsold the others, wii graphics are last gen and outsold the most powerful machines, not even mention that people dont even know what a graphic card is, this only means that graphics are the manifestation of autism.

  • @porkyminch01

when you mention it, the consoles with best graphics often fail for some reason. dreamcast, PS3, PSP, N64. they were superior to their competitors, but still sold less

  • @TheNinwii I don't think normal people care to much about horse power, or even notice big difference between consoles.

  • @TheNinwii You mean the Xbox 1, not the DC, it outsold the cube but lagged far behind the PS2.

  • Their emulations are back. Ours are illegal. :3 Actually, I'd like to get my hands on a proto-64.

Also, wut wut FUNKY KONG music, I want this version!

  • crazy hair style

  • Interpolation and linear filtering has come a long way since the N64.

  • All PCs had at the time were 2D accelerators. No 3D capability whatsoever.

  • 10 years from now we'll be watching nostalgic videos of the 360 and ps3.

  • @MrSerpentish Yep, about how the PS3 dominated the 360.

  • @Echoesoftimelover In what way, they only thing Sony is dominating right now is the toilet. The only thing the PS3 has going for it is the Blu Ray player, and even that will become obsolete soon. 10 years from now we'll all be laughing at Blu Ray because digital downloads are the future.

  • Waaaah!! guys did you saw that Shark? How did they stuck a real shark in dem competers?

  • The 3ds doesnt even have tri linear screw you nintendo

  • @fergieboy10 doesnt need it, it(3ds) uses pixel and vertex shaders. N64 did have bi and tri linear filtering, antomorphic shading, anti aliisation, pcs at the time didnt even have that. z buffering with correction, damn, the list goes on all with infinit (unrestricted) sound chanels

  • This guy is a robot, he doesn't blink

  • @AliceinNirvanagarden, 0:01, he did. You failed :P

  • @AliceinNirvanagarden you act as if people blinked in the 90s. pft

  • What is the reason Silicon Graphics hasn't been updated to present time?

  • @Cyberpunk747 they became irrelevant when regular PCs and graphics chips appeared in the late 90s. I believe Nvidia uses a lot of technology derived from sgi though.

  • Respond to this video... They went on to become ATI.Or rather the tech was sold to the new fledgling company ATI.

  • @glennbuchanan29 Really? SGI became ATI? Awesome! :3

  • I bet this blew so many nerds cocks back in the day

  • @MegaKBFilms it blew me back xD

  • anyone see lebron travel right there?

  • aww man, im getting this when its comes out!!!!!

  • @mechanicaladvantage6 Or get a "Wii U" since this is 10 years old and isn't sold anymore.

  • LOL's

  • TriLinear MipMap Interpolation!

    ZOMG!

  • That was the 32x doom

  • trilinear filtering MIP-mapping no way

  • When unveiled to the public on November 24, 1995, the console was introduced as the Nintendo Ultra 64 at the 7th Annual Shoshinkai Software Exhibition in Japan.

So how can this possibly be 1994?

  • People, this was 1994. This was new. They didn't use CD ROMS for gaming except for very few things.

  • Say What?!

  • What they did was get the squares and smear them together.

  • XD

  • 1:39 To think we were so blind back then.

  • looks more like dreamcast to me

  • mastergohan: The memory in the N64 had a 8-bit databus running in 500Mhz, wich means about 500MB/s and NOT 100MB/s, if it had a 16-bit bus in 500Mhz it could transfer about 1Gb/s, its you who has wrong here!

  • @ncrkel eh, happens.

  • n64's 3d shits all over ps1

  • There needs to be more games with sharks in them.

  • "Personal Computer Game"

That's not the PC version of Doom though

  • Impressed.

  • I like how that ocean floor looks like water in Quake :)

  • The bullshit is stunning.

  • wow i mean oh my god, the graphics look bettter than crysis oh my god wow.

  • Gee, yet where did the N64 end up in? A distant second to the 32 bit system with blocky blocks up close.

  • @AVEXentSUCKS

You know WHY it ended up second? Because Nintendo went with a format that cost way more than a CD, had licensing restrictions from Nintendo, and had limited capacity. Had they gone with CD's, it would have won hands-down.

  • Stage direction: What ever happens, KEEP STARING AT THE CAMERA.

  • whats the diffrence between N64 and ulta N64 ?

  • @uwright22 They're the same thing. Nintendo changed the name before the release.

  • @uwright22 Nothing, it was just the original name.

  • Why is this old? Two reasons: The vaseline stained swinger-tit camera lens, the technically confused Ceo with hair like a Nascar driver, selling the game tech himself due to complete lack of marketing department. Damn I actually thought this was a new Nintendo console codenamed Ultra 64 for a reason Other than a 17 years worth of "don't do it like this, folks" reminder. Lol... Fail....Fossillized !

  • The N64's GPU could have pushed nearly 500,000 polygons/second, this was called the Turbo3D microcode whereas the Fast3D microcode could only push 100,000 to 120,000 polygons/second. The reason Turbo3D was never used due to graphical degradation, so Nintendo never allowed it to be use. World Driver Championship pushed the limits and rivaled polygon counts of PSX games, with MP3 audio and 640x480 without an expansion pack.

  • the iphone 4 has better graphics

  • @justinjacobe Obviously.

  • @nintendo1889x yah i know LOL

  • @justinjacobe But teh iphone don't have sm64, ocarina of time, star fox, banjo tooie, or paper mario

  • @ToseRoyal but the 6 don't have angry birds, cut the rope and many more

  • @justinjacobe uh... you do realize nintendo 64 was from 1994?

  • @cpufightclub yah i know im just saying it and your'e making it a big deal nice LMAO

  • @justinjacobe The iPhone 4 is 15 years more advanced...

  • @boeoz i know

  • iphone is also a few times stonger and much newer

  • @justinjacobe

du ifone 4 haz de better duh graphix dan dis uh duuhhh.

Better graphics than an 18 year old console my god woooww.

  • When I first witnessed 007 Goldeneye in action. It was jaw-dropping, awe inspiring graphics!

  • @Krash0verride

Crysis is the exact opposite of the type of game Uncharted is. It's not linear, it's big, open, and not very scripted.

  • imagine if we went back to 1994 and showed them nintendo 3DS or Wii

  • videogames are looking like shit in retrospect, EVER!

  • lol all pioneered by John Carmack!!!!

  • @d3tach3d not all, but he had a good role in a lot of things. He's my idol

  • No matter how close or how away you get the graphics stay blurry.

  • better that than lego blocks on the ps1

  • Whats the song called at 2:02?

  • @winerrs It's an instrumental of highway to the danger zone, from the Top Gun soundtrack.

  • "This is only possible with the cartridge, you can't duplicate this on any system using cd-rom" Yeah, that lasted.

  • @SpEsHaLLLL PSX graphics sucked, always trembling... no filteriing... great console and games... but it's graphics... omg they were awful (not the 2d ones, just 3d)

  • @gothcraft I wouldn't agree with that. PSX could still render more polys than N64, while the latter could render in higher res (with memory pack) and filter textures. Still, it was all about knowing your hardware. Square could produce some amazing 3d graphics on psx with Vagrant Story and Chrono Cross and so did Rare on N64 with Banjo and Conker games. These guys simply knew the hardware's pros and cons and used them effectively making the games shine.

  • @SpEsHaLLLL

Least it saved the N64 from that shitpile FF7

  • @SpEsHaLLLL Ha, that made me laugh out loud.

  • @SpEsHaLLLL Well back then the texture streaming really was only possible on a cartridge, these days with have enough graphics RAM to stream textures from that.

  • @xilefian

Transfer speed, not video RAM. If it's already in the video RAM, it's already loaded.

  • @SpEsHaLLLL

N64 still has faster load times than any console today :P

  • @SpEsHaLLLL Cartridges did though. Have you tried playing a CD based game from the mid-90's lately? As likely as not, it was scratched beyond all recognition. Cartridges though, they LAST.

  • @SpEsHaLLLL Well, back then, comparing to the cdrom speed they had at the time and taking in to note they didn't have a hdd in their consoles, it kinda was true.

  • They use Funky Flights in the beginning

  • Doom FTW

  • Why are you guys making fun? This stuff was considered amazing back then!

  • @RedYoshiReturns Those kids don't know history. They grew up with games like crysis pretty much.. so they don't know what gaming in the early 90's was like (fun)

  • @RedYoshiReturns i think that's because they weren't around at that time.

  • @RedYoshiReturns

people will not appreciate the past.

  • @ComradeCommissar17

But do they appreciate false advertising?

  • @RedYoshiReturns because a lot of the models where done on a computer where the graphics where too good for the N64

  • @RedYoshiReturns

Because these people are morons, and think the graphics on their current systems are as good as they are ever going to get. 20 years from now, people will think those graphics look like crap.

  • @Draknfyre: Graphics whore >_> Imma go read/ watch Jnovels and Jdrama now. If you didn't get that, you're a fucking more. I SAID, anime and manga...

  • @DaisukeKigurou

WTF? I think you misreplied to the wrong person.

  • @RedYoshiReturns cause they are 5year old trolls who dont know the real game days

  • @RedYoshiReturns the NES was considered amazing at that time.... They didn't imagine anything could get better after pong... TECHNOLOGY RULES :D

  • @RedYoshiReturns Lol at "Why are you guys making fun?"

  • I wonder what kind of games could exist, if they made the N64 read CDs instead cartridiges... The games that they already made could be very differents (if they could exist). Maybe better, maybe worse. But I'm glad they wanted use cartdriges. They're resistant.

  • @7DragonMilo What.

  • WoW has N64-like graphics (pre-cata). Amazing what this machine was capable of.

  • @AleXy86

No, it doesn't. There is pc hardware 10 times more powerful than the Nintendo 64 that still won't run the game. A single character contains more polygons than the system could push in a scene with anything else smoothly.

  • @skoi87 Oh I'm sorry. I wasn't fucking talking to you.

  • @sonikku956 - that's why you said it in an open forum where you know damn well anybody can reply, right?

  • @furrykef This is YOUTUBE, not a FORUM.

  • @sonikku956 - I think if you look "forum" up in the dictionary, you'll find that "internet message board" isn't the only meaning.

  • Trilinear Midmap Interpolation...

Try saying that 10 times fast!

  • nintendo copied xbox fuck u nintendo sony r not even worth mention cuz theyre the most fail console and the games suck nigger cock

  • @TheUnTrollAbleTroll cool story bro.

  • @TheUnTrollAbleTroll lol you are the untrollabletroll

  • I got a Nintendo 64 when it was released and after 3-4 years I only played like less than 10 games. The N64 was such a piece of shit ...

I never wanted to jump ship cus I was a Nintendo fanboy but the N64 game library was mediocre at best and the PS1 had so much more to offer that no wonder the Sony Playstation brand became so popular a the time. With games like Crash Bandicoot, Metal Gear, Final Fantasy I mean, Nintendo couldn't compete with all that with just Mario and Zelda.

  • @Wiimaniac damn you missed out on some bad ass games for the N64, like Conkers bad fur day, Turok 1 , 2, 3, Banjo and Tooie,, Bomberman 64,

  • @Wiimaniac

    Lol'd

What the hell did you play? At least they were all first party games.

  • well then you should probably just sell your n64 and get a ps1 instead

  • Shit looks like shit... I wish I had Crysis or Uncharted 2 back in those days.

  • crysis and uncharted look more like movies than games. I rather have the cartoony mario and zelda.

  • @nooblet911 and also gears of war 3 looks like a movie

  • Shit looks like shit... I wish I had Crysis or Uncharted 2 back in those days.

  • I would love to get my hands on the shark demo...isn't there some ROM on the net?

  • ha ha, the music in the beginning is from Donkey Kong Country, it's Funky Flights modified :D

  • why so serious ??

  • I miss the classics like Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64.

  • anyone else notice that the guy at the beginning doesnt blink much

  • If only they could put this graphic engine on the Wii....

  • HOLY SHIT LOOK AT THOSE GRAPHICS, IM SOOOO GONNA BUY THIS WHEN IT COMES OUT.

  • Speaking about console in its "prime" days, I can say N64 owned all.. Zelda owned them all no offense.

  • @fightnight14 yeah until the sega dreamcast came out.

  • I remember playing Mario party 1 and 2 with my friends for hours. Being an adult sucks.

  • Starting @ 00:25, isn't the music from when you visit Funky's Flights in Dounkey Kong Country on the SNES?

  • @ 2:00 early 90s montage music. Love them days!

  • Back when Nintendo actually tried to out do their competition technology wise.

  • @Nintariz

They tried and failed with the GameCube too. Us Wii fans can bitch and whine about graphics all day long but I'd rather see Nintendo as they are now rather then not have them at all.

  • @Snesboy09

Failed? How so? The Gamecube was more powerful then the PS2 and just under the Xbox. The only thing it lacked was multimedia capabilities but I fail to see how that has anything to do with gaming.

  • @Nintariz

Even though GameCube was profitable, it still got it's ass handed to it by PS2.

  • @Snesboy09

Yeah, I know. But I wasn't talking about sales. I was talking about it's power and how Nintendo made it so it's software could compete evenly against Sony and Microsoft.

With the Wii, Nintendo completely abandoned the idea of using technology to compete...which was my original point.

  • @Nintariz Nintendo got out of the horsepower/graphics race because they're pockets aren't as deep as sony and microsofts, they new they weren't going to win that way. They tried the big power and graphics thing in the past with gamecube and 64 and forgot about what was important. Like innovation, gameplay, games that everyone could play. Most people buy video game systems for the fun gameplay, not fancy graphics, blu ray players and all that bullshit.

  • @Nintariz look at the 3ds, nintendo might be doing it again.

  • @tgamerlegend

Yeah, it looks like that might be true. I just wish they brought that same sort of approach to home consoles again. Not that I haven't had fun with the Wii but I'm apart of the of the NES generation. I think Nintendo was better back then.

  • RIP SGI

  • These graphics are so realistic!

  • 23 people confirmed they do not know a thing about the history of gaming and should be banned from every system for eternity.

  • 1:45 lol, the shark has a total tard face!

  • N64 killed it's cartridge. If they go into CD ROM technology as other systems it all might have ended different.

  • @psychonaut25

True, and the audio chip was a piece of shit too.

  • Hahaha these graphics used to be the best. Now look at the world. If you cant see a mans every sweat gland in a game it is considered shit.

  • I wish they would have released the Jet Fighter Game-...looks awesome ^^

  • wonder what happens if they see crysis back then

  • These graphics are way cool maaaaaan!

  • Looks much better than any game I've ever seen on the N64.

  • @chronocream

Clearly you never played conkers bad fur day

  • the only thing that doesn't make sense is what they say about the speed of CD-ROM being a burden to the graphics... i mean gpu and CD-Rom units are separated matters, i see no excuse... there's even the better graphics CD-ROM based dreamcast... i don't get his point o.o

  • @Nachotronix Because back then, CD games had really horrible load times. They're just trying to say that their "good graphic" don't have load times since they're readily accessed via roms on the cartridge, where CD games have to stop to load the models, textures, and sounds off the CD and into memory. Cartridge vs CD used to be a huge debate.

  • @beigemore cd had 15- 1 min loading times

  • @ThreeDaysOfDan

It depends on the developer and games. If your using the PS1 as an example.

  • @SgtThom the longest loading time for a ps1 game would be around 3 min for a bootleg/scratched up game
