  • haha this is the basis of all the bad-tasted villains!

  • Adrian - I thought you played that extremely well. This is coming from an old OZ Army Musician who was (I am pretty sure) he first to play piano with a Military Band in OZ 1970 (of all things "The Pink Panther" LOL but I got an improvised solo in it). That piece comes across in B major but I think it is normally in C???. Didn't notice any bad notes myself but that is the sign of a good musician as you are to be able to hide them.;) Well done! I later played keyboards in dance bands.

  • outstanding

  • Lovely! My children all play piano, and my son really loves this piece. Great job!

  • A beautiful piece of music....brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. You did a GREAT job playing this piece of music. Bravo to you. You get a ***** rating from me! God bless you........

  • My favorite piece of music!

  • Buen pianista, pero inexpresivo, está muy acartonado, tal vez por ser militar, parece robot, sin sentimientos.

  • superb perfromance.l worked with the late great Russ Conway who like you put his hear and soul into his playing

  • Forget about 'missed' or 'wrong' notes! My family's constant attention - 'you missed that one!', 'oops!', "that wasn't right, was it?" or "Wow, that was bad!' etc, took away so much of the joy of playing piano, I nearly quit playing altogether. I became so self-conscious, my hands went cold and shook so I couldn't play. I'm over all that today!

Congrats on having the sheer nerve to get out there to play this beautiful, complex piece - from memory - just before being deployed! Fantastic!

  • AH! I love this. I've not played this piece, but I've played Rachmaninov 1st and 2nd--so the heart is similar. For some reason I'm obsessing over this piece tonight. It's SO cool to see you in full uniform banging the hell out of the black beast. ROCK ON! And blessings on your music, family and country.

  • fantastic

  • WOW ..so many many critics....thank you for sharing this...i love this piece...i have a recording of richard addinsel and the hollywood bowl...its pretty amazing..you did a great job...thank you

  • ~Can someone please do a tutorial for this ?? PLeeeeeaaaaSEee

  • lol. your tutorial will consist of getting the score and practice alot.

  • daaaaaamn

    harsh much?

  • Ignorant arsehole! Go smoke some weed and let people that appreciate music, appreciate it!

  • I just found this (2+yrs late!) and am very impressed, Barns. I love this piece since, as a child, I found it in my Nana's record collection! I hope the RSI went away. Bev

  • Spike Milligan was right about this!

  • haha, I kept meaning to look this up and see what Spike was going on about, damn right he was right !

  • I'd just been listening to him reading "hitler, my part in his downfall" on the bbc and decided to try and find this after hearing him mention it so much. I thought it must have been bad with him talking of it so much and sure enough it is "bloody awful" as he described!

  • Oh, sorry, didn't mean to delete the last post......Yeah.....I played loads more wrong notes I think than the ones you mentioned.

  • Beautiful music. Thank you for sharing

  • I love your rendition of this music. I am learning it now. :)

  • Superbe interprétation !!

  • I thought this was an excellent piece and i wet myself at the end =D , CRREEAASSEE !!!!

  • Magnifique!

  • Marvelous. Hope you and all our loved ones stay safe in Afghanistan....Please come home soon and thank you for all you and our brave sons and daughters do to give that poor country a chance....

  • Who was the guy doing the introduction? Looks like Gareth Hunt.

  • Yeah, the late Gareth Hunt, he died not long after this show.

  • Beautiful performance! Every time I hear Warsaw Concerto tears roll down my face. Stay safe.

  • This classical masterpiece haunts me with its beauty and dynamics. Hope you are safe and well. Thank you for sharing your talent!

  • Very well played!! Bravo!

  • This is one of the few pieces that will stop me in my tracks whatever I am doing or wherever I am. Thank you for your performance. Good luck in the future.

  • Please be safe. You are so blessed.

    You friend, Anita

  • Wow! This moved me so much - (even with the wrong notes) the emotion was SO real. I think many pianists try to play this like its Rach - when it isn't - it's film music - it's a little bit tacky and over the top as a composition - and I think you played it like that - and... wow! so much better than the 'professional' recordings where the pianists take it so seriously. really really moving.

  • Great Job! I think this is a very concise work that brings out the dramatic possibilities of the piano and orchestra genre. Well played and very positively received!

  • Wrong notes or not, I enjoyed it, I only wish that I had half of your talent.

  • Nice but pay attention, you seem to have to much tension on your body while playing.

  • well played. The only critic is that you don't seem to be looking and communicating too much with the conductor.

    But again,great job

  • Great stuff! Thanks very much. Keep safe out there.

  • Well played Barnsley mate, an improvement on for your eyes only ..........sgt

  • barnslou, I also developed carpal tunnel from playing the piano and had to have surgery, which did fix it.

I also found that wheat and anything w/ gluten exacerbated it terribly and gave up all food with gluten, which controlled the pain. Just wanted to share that with you.

    Great job! Thanks for posting.

  • wonderful!!my parents used to dance to this song in London every night the bombs were dropping and planes flying overhead. you play it beautifully!

  • Bravo bravo!

  • is it just me...or he already made a mistake in the first chord...what....or is the piano out of tune..

  • There is a good chance, hit a couple of wrong ones in the first page. :-(

  • I can't here this wrong note! But what of it? The great Vladimir Samoylovich Horowitz had been known to admit to playing a wrong note or two. Your comment is so unnecessary. It is a lovely performance. So lighten up!!!

  • that's cool, for him to admit, so its all good now i guess heh

  • What is RSI. My mother tongue is not English. Thank you in advance

  • RSI is 'repetitive strain injury ', the muscles get bruised and scared. Total rest is the cure but it's not something i can do.

    Thank you.

  • Bravo!!Corporal Adrian B!!

You have the best interpretation of this piece I have heard so far!

You should have been a classical concert pianist. :)

    Bravo! Great Job!!

  • beautiful!

  • Hey thank you for all the nice comments, i didn't expect any of them !! I am actually a jazz pianist by trade and this was one of the few chances i have had to home in on my classical training, i enjoyed the challenge but it came at the cost of an RSI which isn't going away even now.

    Once again thank you all.

  • As for the comment by 'ugnex3 ', yes, so much passion. To immerse yourself so deep into something to the point it takes over, is a beautiful experience. I only had one chance to play this, it seemed such a shame, 5 month of dedication and within 6 mins it's all over.......

  • I worked on this for two years because I loved it so deeply. Unfortunately, I abandoned ship when the tempo got to presto near the end!

  • I found the Presto easier than the rest to be honest, some of the LH in the early parts caused me more trouble, got myself an RSI in the end, it hurt so bad at times.

  • Im gonna try and play this piece. Has anyone got any advice for me?

  • The only advice i can give is to take it steady, know the music well enough to rid yourself of the manuscript. Take it easy with the LH stuff near the begining. Just work on small sections or even just a few notes at a time, always with a metronome.

  • tragique, romantique et magnifique!

  • Great play.If one can play Rachmaninoff 2nd Piano Concerto, this piece will not be so difficult to play.Richard Addinsell was basing the style of Rachmaninoff in composing this welknown movie theme music The Warsaw Concerto for the movie The Dangerous Moonlight in 1940.During that time, there was censorships and monitoring on the use of classical music for film production.

  • Yes, it sounds very Rachmaninoff-esque. I totally thought it was Rachmaninoff's piano concerto when I heard it on the radio. So much russian fiery passion!

  • Very well done. Not the an easy piece to play. I love that music!!!!!!!!!!

  • loved your interpretation of one of my favourite pieces of music. Beautiful ,thank you

  • not bad at all, i found the interpretation in places a little different, not bad but different. overall, very very good!!

  • Very moving interpretation. Romantic, as it should be! However, the orchestra needs a little work. Too bad its only an edited version!

  • bravo e bello

  • A beautiful interpretation

  • Absolutely amazing. My favourite piece, played by an incredible interpreter. Keep it up. I hope you get the respect you deserve for your talent. Congratulations!

  • Not a chance !!!!!

  • very well played band sounds great too !!!!

  • Wonderful! Thank you ~~

  • bravooooooooo! that was excellent!

  • perfect!
