For clarification, what fulfilled prophecy? Prophecy from the old testament to the new testament? @delagrazia All of this could be easily explained as the base need for food/shelter. You are treading very close to an argument from ignorance here. As best as i can remember, the closest i ever felt to 'god' was in the arms of my parents. Nothing higher need even be attempted to be explained. Without being forced into church, I doubt i would have felt the need to impose god where my parents clearly filled the gap. You could replace the god concept with curiosity, and revelation, learning.
I was however incorrect in my presentation of agnosticism, as that apparently is also a creed, not a method. But I am correct in presenting athiesm as the same...I.E., a creed, a value statement, meaning a baby cannot make such a statement, due to lack of defining such a value. Let me put it another way, it's comparable to a catholic saying her child is a catholic child. It's a value statement regardless of context, which a child is incapable of.

@judomuerte yes, lol :-) btw have you checked out Stephen Hawking's M-Theory? I'm still waiting on my copy of his book "the Grand Design" to arive via amazon but there's some videos about it on here. In the jist it's a theory that he proposes that proves something can be created out from nothing ala gravity which shows there is no need for a "Creator" for our universe to come into existence. You shuld check it out, it's very interesting.

Very educational, and i always recommend his channel to any atheist :-) he actually had a long running series here on youtube and is in the process of remaking his videos because people still want to see them but he had problems with copyright issues till now

How many of those "other" sons of a virgin birth have our calandar based on their life or death? Who even knows their names?? @DeconPossessed nope, the calendar is based on that, because it was started by Christians in Europe back then, different cultures and religions have different calendars. the one used to today was set in place by Europeans, who believed the mythology as truth. The only reason Jesus is known is because of European missionaries, who had forced people to believe the religion through, torture and persecution( the crusaders) over many generations, the name was spread through churches.

@DeconPossessed There is nothing on our calendar that has an origin in Jesus, christmas (AKA the solstice) was celebrated far before he supposedly lived. Easter or Eostre as it was originally called existed as a festival of fertility, long before Jesus was tacked in there (pun intended). If you doubt this research it... christianity has no holidays of its own. Arguably the only real claim it has is the current year. And given exactly how much work went into spreading this religion not surprising

The months were mostly named after roman gods. And the days of the week were named after the Norse Gods. Jesus and the christian God have nothing to do with it.

I don´t know what is so hard to understand that Jesus is the Sun. But not the Astronomical sun, but the astrological sun. Everyone who studies knows that. It is not a surprise. Every document from the begining of the christianity through middle ages, until recently says so. It is not a big deal. The astrological sun means our higher consciousness. Jesus represents our higher self. The bible as all sacred texts are symbolical. I don´t understand what´s so hard about that.

Also I can't find much confrimation online to some of the claims of this video. For example, Horus according to several scholars had ONLY FOUR disciples not 12. And never died until after he was merged with Ra and then he died and was made alive again everytime the sun rose. This video says WE CAN BE CERTAIN JESUS NEVER EXISTED. That is NOT TRUE AT ALL. There are far, far more skeptical and agnostic scholars and historians who are certain Jesus did exist but many NT stories are myth
I don't know who wrote this video or makes the presentation, but I must say I highly doubt the person(s) has any credentials to challenge those who do have a PhD or MA who insist Jesus did exist. Futher, he mentions Bart Ehrman at the beginning of this video and I know Dr. Ehrman and Dr. Ehrman, who is an agnostic, believes Jesus WAS BORN ON EARTH and was put to death by Pilate in Jerusalem by crucifixion about 30 CE. Now Ehrman rejects the virgin birth, walking on water etc.

Well almost all skeptica scholars, many are with the Jesus Seminar which is critical of Christianity, are convinced Jesus was born on the earth in the fall of the year about 4 to 6 BCE and was excuted by Pilate in Jerusalem around 30 CE. Also they believe just a few sayings of Jesus in the Bible actually came from his lips and the rest is myth and borrowed from pagan religions. Only a couple of scholars believe Jesus was never born and even they, as I understand them, say that may be wrong.
Personally, I just want these scholars to provide evidence that supports the belief that the biblical Jesus existed. I tend to prefer findings over beliefs.

Clues in the New Testament itself for example such as a fake census that takes Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem so Jesus' birth will fulfill Old Testament prophesy. Why not just have them live in Bethlehem if the gospel writer wanted to fake the entire thing? A few early church fathers knew James and John who knew Jesus. Plus other non Biblical passages such as Tacitus saying Jesus was crucified by Pilate.
Since there is no historicity for jesus to speak of. Josephus has been debunked, as I think Tacitus, Pliny, & Suetonius are on very shaky ground, I'd like to know what it is exactly that convinces these scholars that jesus was a real person. What evidence have they seen that would convince them?

Almost ALL scholars accept the James brother of Jesus called the Christ as genuine from the pen of Josephus. And the longer TF, most scholars believe Josephus wrote a core passage about Jesus which later suffered a Christian gloss or partical interpolation. Tacitus is NOT on shaky ground either.
@Cootabux Tacitus was not a Christian and called the movement an evil superstition. But confirms Jesus was crucified by Pontius Pilate. Many Jesus mythers only attack Tacitus as "hearsay" evidence. Too late to stand in court. I would say if one wanted to put Josephus and Tacitus on shaky ground, point out that the oldest extant copy of Josephus dates to just the 10th century and Tacitus to the 11th. The gospels make it much closer to the first century.

The Gospel to the Hebrews is an interesting one. The Church Fathers in ther second and third centuries quote from it but it is lost. Only those quotes are known. They claim it was written by Matthew in the Hebrew tongue about 50 CE. Almost ALL historians and scholars agree Jesus was killed about 30CE.

As scholar Marques Borg wrote, "Most Christians would be surprised how little modern scholars accept from the NT about Jesus. And the average skeptic would be surprised with how much we do accept". Jesus' birth in the fall of 7AD, his baptism by John the Baptist and death by Pilate are ones accepted.

And, may I remind you that most PIONEERING scientists were either Christians,Deist or Agnostics but none of them atheist. @valdemar8 Incorrect. Athiesm is denial of the existence of god. A baby cannot make a rational decision. At best, he could be described as Agnostic, or lacking the knowledge of a god. Athiesm is a choice, a refutation, not a state of existence.

Babies aren't able to "believe" in anything. Babies lack knowledge of belief, not to even comment on knowledge of g(G)od('s) (satisfied?). Athiests do not believe, it is not simply that they possess no belief, as they possess no capability to even do so.

@delagrazia All of this could be easily explained as the base need for food/shelter. You are treading very close to an argument from ignorance here. As best as i can remember, the closest i ever felt to 'god' was in the arms of my parents. Nothing higher need even be attempted to be explained. Without being forced into church, I doubt i would have felt the need to impose god where my parents clearly filled the gap. You could replace the god concept with curiosity, and revelation, learning.

I was however incorrect in my presentation of agnosticism, as that apparently is also a creed, not a method. But I am correct in presenting athiesm as the same...I.E., a creed, a value statement, meaning a baby cannot make such a statement, due to lack of defining such a value. Let me put it another way, it's comparable to a catholic saying her child is a catholic child. It's a value statement regardless of context, which a child is incapable of.

@judomuerte yes, lol :-) btw have you checked out Stephen Hawking's M-Theory? I'm still waiting on my copy of his book "the Grand Design" to arive via amazon but there's some videos about it on here. In the jist it's a theory that he proposes that proves something can be created out from nothing ala gravity which shows there is no need for a "Creator" for our universe to come into existence. You shuld check it out, it's very interesting.

Very educational, and i always recommend his channel to any atheist :-) he actually had a long running series here on youtube and is in the process of remaking his videos because people still want to see them but he had problems with copyright issues till now

That's why all gods were given human attributes such as anger and love, because it helps people relate to them and subconsciously feel as if they don't actually have to accept that one day we will die, and then it's over forever.

@DeconPossessed nope, the calendar is based on that, because it was started by Christians in Europe back then, different cultures and religions have different calendars. the one used to today was set in place by Europeans, who believed the mythology as truth. The only reason Jesus is known is because of European missionaries, who had forced people to believe the religion through, torture and persecution( the crusaders) over many generations, the name was spread through churches.

@DeconPossessed There is nothing on our calendar that has an origin in Jesus, christmas (AKA the solstice) was celebrated far before he supposedly lived. Easter or Eostre as it was originally called existed as a festival of fertility, long before Jesus was tacked in there (pun intended). If you doubt this research it... christianity has no holidays of its own. Arguably the only real claim it has is the current year. And given exactly how much work went into spreading this religion not surprising

The months were mostly named after roman gods. And the days of the week were named after the Norse Gods. Jesus and the christian God have nothing to do with it.

I don´t know what is so hard to understand that Jesus is the Sun. But not the Astronomical sun, but the astrological sun. Everyone who studies knows that. It is not a surprise. Every document from the begining of the christianity through middle ages, until recently says so. It is not a big deal. The astrological sun means our higher consciousness. Jesus represents our higher self. The bible as all sacred texts are symbolical. I don´t understand what´s so hard about that.

kinoglazvideo. I think it is true that many pagan ideas where merged into the Christian faith. For example Jesus birth on Dec 25 is nowhere to be found in the Bible. The New Testament, according to scholars, indicates it was not even in Dec. at all and in or before 4 BCE. Now on the other hand, almost 100 percent of New Testament scholars and first century historians are certain Jesus of the New Testament WAS born ON EARTH and died about 30 CE in Jerusalem by order of Pilate.

Also I can't find much confrimation online to some of the claims of this video. For example, Horus according to several scholars had ONLY FOUR disciples not 12. And never died until after he was merged with Ra and then he died and was made alive again everytime the sun rose. This video says WE CAN BE CERTAIN JESUS NEVER EXISTED. That is NOT TRUE AT ALL. There are far, far more skeptical and agnostic scholars and historians who are certain Jesus did exist but many NT stories are myth

I don't know who wrote this video or makes the presentation, but I must say I highly doubt the person(s) has any credentials to challenge those who do have a PhD or MA who insist Jesus did exist. Futher, he mentions Bart Ehrman at the beginning of this video and I know Dr. Ehrman and Dr. Ehrman, who is an agnostic, believes Jesus WAS BORN ON EARTH and was put to death by Pilate in Jerusalem by crucifixion about 30 CE. Now Ehrman rejects the virgin birth, walking on water etc.

Well almost all skeptica scholars, many are with the Jesus Seminar which is critical of Christianity, are convinced Jesus was born on the earth in the fall of the year about 4 to 6 BCE and was excuted by Pilate in Jerusalem around 30 CE. Also they believe just a few sayings of Jesus in the Bible actually came from his lips and the rest is myth and borrowed from pagan religions. Only a couple of scholars believe Jesus was never born and even they, as I understand them, say that may be wrong.

jezusra. The skeptical scholars I've written DO have evidence. Clues in the New Testament itself for example such as a fake census that takes Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem so Jesus' birth will fulfill Old Testament prophesy. Why not just have them live in Bethlehem if the gospel writer wanted to fake the entire thing? A few early church fathers knew James and John who knew Jesus. Plus other non Biblical passages such as Tacitus saying Jesus was crucified by Pilate.

@Cootabux There is abundant evidence for a historical Jesus. And Josephus has NOT been debunked. Check it out on the internet. Almost ALL scholars accept the James brother of Jesus called the Christ as genuine from the pen of Josephus. And the longer TF, most scholars believe Josephus wrote a core passage about Jesus which later suffered a Christian gloss or partical interpolation. Tacitus is NOT on shaky ground either.

@Cootabux Tacitus was not a Christian and called the movement an evil superstition. But confirms Jesus was crucified by Pontius Pilate. Many Jesus mythers only attack Tacitus as "hearsay" evidence. Too late to stand in court. I would say if one wanted to put Josephus and Tacitus on shaky ground, point out that the oldest extant copy of Josephus dates to just the 10th century and Tacitus to the 11th. The gospels make it much closer to the first century.

@Cootabux Also traditional historians and even skeptical Bible scholars do use the New Testament and other early Christian writings with the secular ones. The Gospel to the Hebrews is an interesting one. The Church Fathers in ther second and third centuries quote from it but it is lost. Only those quotes are known. They claim it was written by Matthew in the Hebrew tongue about 50 CE. Almost ALL historians and scholars agree Jesus was killed about 30CE.

As scholar Marques Borg wrote, "Most Christians would be surprised how little modern scholars accept from the NT about Jesus. And the average skeptic would be surprised with how much we do accept". Jesus' birth in the fall of 7AD, his baptism by John the Baptist and death by Pilate are ones accepted.

And accepted by 99.9 percent of traditional historians, atheists, agnostics, believers in God, Jewish, Islamic etc now and for centuries past. I only know of ONE PhD level scholars who doubts the historical Jesus out of thousands!!!

The Pauline apistles do not reveal any historical Jesus, nor they demonstrate any knowledge of the existence of the 4 Canonical so-called "Gospels." In fact, the Gospels themselves cannot be viewed as anything historical written by eyewitnesses; as it has time and time again been proved. Besides the fact that they date too much later than what it is supposed, the Gospels frequently contradict each either. One doesn't need.....

@pedrom41 You clearly know NOTHING about the Pauline epistles. It is very clear indeed that you have no credentials!!! The Pauline epistles clearly give evidence of the historical Jesus in several places and the gospels too. A number of even sketpical scholars have written about this to answer the ignorance of Earl Doherty who made such a claim in his book The Jesus Puzzle about 10 years ago. Doherty is NOT an expert in anything that I know about. He had no PhD in anything. Sorry.

@boblackey1 #4..."credentials" or PhD to see that. And based on the numerous manuscripts composed over the centuries, have been determined to be a mass of some 150,000 or so variant readings. Moreover, there were many others others canonical books such as the gospel of Nicodemus, the gospel of the Ebionites, the gospel of Thomas, the gospel of the Hebrews, and some other gospels I can't right now recall their names. But the fact remain that Jews, Hebews, Samaritans, and other Israelites.....

When one searches and researches and begin to peel away the mythology layers of the Gospels stories, from which Christians so fondly and ignorantly love to quote, and when one gets to the core of it, one finds a "historic" Jesus, but not a "historical" one. @pedrom41 You are clearly being reading Doherty and other such quacks who are ignored by mainstream Biblical scholarship and historians too. Even atheist Richard Carrier, who just got a PhD by the way, admitted that not having a PhD hurts Doherty. You don't even know what even skeptical scholars generally say was the starting point of what became Christianity and it not only included a historical Jesus, but Peter and Jesus' half brother James.

There is only ONE New Testament scholars I know of who rejects or questions (who knows which it is as he says it differently different times) and that is Robert Price, PhD. Only one out of thousands!!! Legion of apologists, specially in more recent years, have jumped out of their seats (and out of their mind) to claim that those parallels are pure "farce," which they say, lack any merit. But when one looks at all the pagan influences surrounding the Jesus fable, one can easily see that those drawn parallels are more than justified. Jesus of Nazareth was born between 4 and 7 BCE, probably in Nazareth and not likely in Bethlehem, was part of a religious movement that started in Jerusalem with his half brother James, was baptisted by John the Baptist and crucified by orders of Pontius Pilate. Those are historical facts that are ACCEPTED by thousands of scholars and historians including those who are athiests and agnostic and Jewish.

@boblackey1 #9....A British traveller named Edward Moor around 1800 brought back many sketches of Hindu sculptures and monuments depicting a figure crucified with nails holes in feets and hands. Well, his publication of this issue was edited and ultimately censored at the request of Christians authorities. This doesn't surprise me at all, for it's well known Christian history from its inception is full of wanton destruction of anything that would challeneges its origin.

A collection of assorted writings by men of antiquity strung together under order of emperor Constantine for political purpose. The decision to choose, select (or reject) different writings and stitch them together into a compilation know as the Bible, was decided in what became known as the "Counsil of Nicea" 325 AD. @pedrom41 You've never studied the New Testament, it's four gospels, it's epistles and letters. You don't know how what they say, how they came to be and anything about them. Yes you've been sucked into a CULT. The Jesus myth cult. It's a similar cult as "the flat earth", "the moon landing was staged on a Hollywood sound stage", "9/11 was an inside job", "UFO's" etc. Sedated? You need to take a pill and sleep for 24 hours.
