Begum Akhtar - Ghazal - 069 - Iss shan se woh aaj.. ..

This ghazal is not by Shahab Ashraf. It is by Hyderabad's Fasahat Jung "Jaleel" who lived in the first part of the twentieth century and worked as a tutor to royal princes. And the maqta of this ghazal: zikr-e habib se kabhi ghaflat na ho Jaleel, chalta rahe yeh kaam bhi jab tak zabaan chale.

isn't it sahir ludhianvi's. i remember one sher being used in the movie PYAASA in which sahir did all the poetry.

just found out that this gazal was written by shahab ashraf. a poet from bhopal who was active in the 1950s.

Mere paas ghazliyaat ke kaafi majmooey haiN, agar yeh ghazal Fakir* ki nahiN hai to meire paas hona cHahiye. Begum Akhtar ne sirf kuch chuninda shoara ka hi kalaam gaaya hai, jismein se Fakir, Hameed Kucknawi aur Bedam Shah Warsi aaj ke daur meiN utney ma'roof nahiN haiN.

Mujhey bhi aapse mulaqaat ka ishtiyaaq hai, jab Mumbai aana ho to zaroor mulaqaat kareiN.
