To be a bit more clear about music and war themes, pictures of soldiers in battle as a background would be completely in order with Band of Brothers, because music played agaist this backdrop was written for this purpose. This was not glorifying acts of war it was glorifying the inherit good in doing things for each other, and helping each other under trying circumstances.
I hope Enya gave permission for these shots to be broadcast over her beautiful music. I understand your point, and I understand why people tried to link LOTR with 9/11; it has a lot to do with the way Tolkien wrote and the themes of the books. The themes are "applicable" to the reader's life instead of "allegorical" to a particular idea set by the author.
