  • The Blue Moon is a real bar in Seattle and just down the road in Federal Way is the bar Jimi Hendrix made famous the tavern called Spanish Castle Magic.

  • Man, this takes me back to being 9 yrs. old in 1990, watching countless hours of CMT. I totally love this song and video.

  • Great song which more artists would do more songs that are fun like this one!!!

  • Ray, to some might not be up there with Cash, Jennings, Haggard, Jones, Nelson, Twitty, etc. ect. But i tell you one thing, he is more than just a singer, he is a songwriter/producer/mixer-engineer/composer/arranger etc. etc. He gets all my respect, and I sure from the rest of the country stars....I hope he creates another hit like " What a way to go ".....Maybe I'll shoot him a couple of my new country songs.....

  • Freakin un-real....This is by far the best and only pure country song around!! I was turned on to it when it came out, and I could not remember who it was or the name of the song, until I hummed it to my new girlfriend...and she knew who it was...I am totally LED ZEPPELIN, but was raised on country music...This song is so freakin country, that I have played it on repeat 100 times..for real...Ray is the man, he does it all himself. I own a studio in MD. and the effects and the mix is the BEST!!!

  • amazon is where to find this one

  • were can i get the whole album someone stold it on me years ago

  • I love all of this old country. This is what I remember as true country. Thank You for posting this.

This is the heart of true American Country Music.

  • i am the guy he is singing about.....

  • Just wanted to comment and say the bar scenes in this video was done in DENISON, TX. My kids grandmother ran the bar, can't remember what the name of the bar is but we all got copys of it and I'm sure after I post this she will comment and everyone will know she was a star for a few!!!!!!!

  • I have hunted hell and highwater for this song.I was a truck driver and I lived by this song.20years and one EX wife ago

  • this is such a great video!! I love this song!

  • Believe it or not, I am the actress who played Madame Roo at 1:24. It was a very fun shoot.

  • Well, great to meet you. I have tried to find what Mr. Kennedy is up to now. Havent heard anything from him on the radio or news. It must have been a blast doing that video, especially the wide open eyes just befor the pin in the doll. Thanx for watching.

  • Great record and vid.

By the way, it's from the '90s.

I think Ray Kennedy is quite prominent nowadays, producing records for other artists. He produced Steve Earle and others.

  • Thanks for putting it on YouTube. I haven't seen that thing in years.

It was filmed in a studio in historic downtown Sherman, TX. The man in the video is just as funny in real life, as I remember.

Highnrising is right, it was from the early 90's.

And I was wrong. It's not Madame Roo, but Madame Roux. Duh, she's Creole. All these years and I never knew I was named after gravy.

  • @Speezerina

I remembered this song and was trying to find the video. It has always stuck with me and I was glad to find it. I'll bet that was a fun shoot. It's a pretty funny video. They don't really make them like that anymore. Even though you're in costume I can tell you're a very pretty girl! Great video...

  • @Speezerina ...hottest lookin lady on the vid.....

  • man, I owned the What A Way To Go cd, and I loved it...it was kickass.

  • I haven't seen this video since the 80s. I laughed my ass off then just as much as I did a few minutes ago. I'd like to add my name to some of the other posted requests here to see the video for the song Scars sometime in the future. So there really is a bar called the "Blue Moon" in Seattle, that's wild.

  • Ray Kennedy does a lot of production work in Nashville now.

  • Does anyone know who else covered this song? There is another version (other than the Dr. Hook cover) that really kicks.

  • I remember this when it was a hit single. On the radio he sang "I got hogtied by a redhead in Idaho"--they didn't let him say "hooker".

  • Really cool song, especially if you live close to Seattle and YES, the "BLUE MOON" is a real bar right next to the U district...lol...dive bar...old,old hangout..:) Ya gotta love those bullets hitting that convertible..!!

  • Hey michaelcountry, thanks for trying. Hope you can find "Scars". I really like that tune but I haven't hear it in long time.. Maybe 10 years or so... Good luck...
