  • @marvalo101 what the fuck . you sack sucker

  • Admit it everyone. This has to be the homosexual song out there.

  • when i listen to songs like this it brings a tear to my eye, I was born in the wrong Era !!

  • Just a follow up for our "friends? who doubted my sincerity and mocked my motivations. I have been helping at Desgage Ministries, serving soup and a few smiles every Wed. and Friday. I've met some 'gentle' people,' some mentally bombed, some chemically destroyed, some emotionally wrecked, but each and every one a story of struggle, and formidable survival and perserverance seeking overcome in even a small way the obstacles daily faced by each.

  • i was about 8 when this came out i picked flowers from my dads garden and gave them to people walking by what a great time to grow up in

  • in 15 and i really wish i could have been born in the 60's... absolutely love this song xD

  • been stuck in my head for days :b

  • This is a great song and im a conservative.

  • Most of the hippies moved to Garberville. Still some in Haight, though. A few years ago, I ran into the Tooth Fairy there, complete with cape and unicycle...

  • No kidding...for sure

This vid is so true...I live here, and 1:02 -1:27 is so rad, it makes me want to spaz all over...auuugh...because it's home...

Thank you so much, for this awesome vid...peace out

  • Someday I'll be there with you...Maron.

  • Timeless tune!, I can listen to this and always wear a smile on my face.

  • Life was NOT "simple" in the 1960's

  • The 60's, the era where we cared and shared. We fought for the rights of individuals to vote, for right women to be viewed as peers, a time when we honestly looked out for our brothers and sisters.

  • @sonoranrat70 Well, some of us. We're still fighting for voting rights and women still aren't treated (or viewed) as equal to men. Some of us still look out for and help one another.

  • Hippies knew how to live! We should all be hippies, if we were good enough.

  • I wish some people would lighten up regarding SF. Sure, it's got a lot of flaws, but, it's NOT San Fran-sicko!

  • Thumbs up if you want life to be simple again, just like the 60's..

  • @xFalconboy310x THE SIXTIES was not simple in any way not buy a long shot and if you did go back there you might be sorry what you wished for but yes I still miss these days absolutely

  • @xFalconboy310x i was thinking more of the basis of the 50s or 40s when you could get a cheeseburger fries and amilk shake for like 5 cents! god damn those times must have been awesome! im 23 and think how cool would it b to live back then to not b so .... worried about money thats all i think about now is money living to paychekc to paychekc i dont think the founding founders intitled us to live this way sincerly New generation haha fyi im not even a hippy but i think this song sounds good =D

  • @xFalconboy310x The 60s was one of the most complicated decades rofl

Simple only in the imagination of those who were not there

  • @xFalconboy310x you obviously have never done any study of C20 else you would know that the 60s was a time of great turmoil, the assassination of JFK, the Vietnam war, Martin Luther King. Most songs like this were written and first played at rally's and protests .

  • @xFalconboy310x LOL, this comment is bullshit, the 60's were far from simple. Every generation has it's hard times

  • @xFalconboy310x

No offense intended but what i know about the 60's was that it was a very hard and confusing time with a lot of destruction going on.

  • Cool...

  • Thumbs up if you want life to simple again like the 60's..

  • if your going to stan platz disco?????

  • i miss san francisco i use to live like 20 minutes away from it :(

  • This is a very beautiful song. I love this, becose in this song you can see the really San Francisco and no the San Francisco modificate by state.Big Mackenzie!

  • @wmc1982 I love trolls. Usually have them smoked with creme cheese, green figs, and a wee bit of amaretto. Keep me laughing boy!

  • Заебали своей рекламой громкой !!!

  • @MrRafael193 Amor y paz, para la familia, y para el gato, y el pero, y cada cosa que tiene una mente

  • What a time...what memories....what happened to all these dreams we had....If the world could back to these ideals, what a better place it would be Peace and Love<3

  • Im going to Play this Song at my Wedding Because im Wear a Long Windy dress with yellow Daisys in my Hair like a Crown and Its going to be in a Meadow and when me and My Love kiss This Song will Play ;3

  • The problem I had with the draft of the 60's was this. If you were white and affluent enough, daddy got you a deferment by sending you to college. If you were po' white trash or a minority, well, we got a rifle in one hand and a ticket to the jungle in the other. Sometimes they came back-sometimes they didn't. So the po' white trash and minorities were expendable and to be used as cannon fodder.

  • @gotch09 And that is "BULLSHIT"" and I am a whitie!

  • @flash52155 Yeah well, I'm a cracker. But my family made a fatal mistake of being "po; white trash".

  • @gotch09 Don't forget they were heroes

  • This song reminds me of Rain Man :)

  • Thumbs Up if your a 49ers Fan!

  • is a classic

  • @TheDashingRor ~ You are wrong and I speak from as someone who stood in the midst of it all, as a 20 year old man, in 1967. And here's the different between then and now; conscription. In 1967 young men were being sucked up by the government of this country and sent off to die in a living hell known as Vietnam. People today, of all ages, talk about "doing the right thing" when called to duty. I was 21, in Feb 1969, when I was called; Canada, prison or Vietnam. It's different now, much.

  • @MrRonnieG You are so right!!I went off to nam in 1970.You are my brother.I did my time, but today so many dont serve.BRING BACK THE DRAFT!!!!!!!!

  • i love this song !

  • On June 14, 1967 (Flag Day) my best friend (Tom Flaig) & I loaded up our belongings into my '57 Chevy and headed north, out of L.A. We were 20 years old and believed that a cultural revolution was happening in SFO. We stopped, for a week, @ Yosemite before heading on, crossing the Oakland Bay Bridge on 22 June, 1967. We spent 3 weeks, in a tent, near the corner of Haight & Ashbury and discovered it was not what we had thought. But I'm glad I lived in that time and experienced what I did.

  • I'm 17 and think hippies are the most worthless people on earth... but dam is there music good compared to my generations crap!

  • Back then we protested the war; today the OWS people could protest modern wars, but choose instead to protest about not getting enough freebies from others. My, have times changed.

  • @rintintinification They aren't looking to get freebies. They are looking to create equality. Why don't you actually make an effort to learn about something before you shun it? Then, at least, you could have a legitimate stance.

  • fucking gays and stinky chinese ppl lives there! but i'd love to visit one day... btw songs rocks!

  • @Razielmn Dont discriminate other nationalities, you git.

  • love the music , but those 3 minute dramas at the beginning really piss me off ,

  • #Occupy San Francisco

  • I'm giving notice! This once anti-hippy, knee jerk, gun totin' conservative repubilcan is fed up and sick at heart at the Corporatistic exploitation consuming our hearts and destroying our humanity. At 50 years of age, I have this updwelling deep in me to figuratively 'go to San Francisco.' I'm heading to my nearest Homeless shelter and volunteering . God help our humanity!

  • @jeff62re just loving (in every sense of the word) and working on yourself (thinking about your attachments) is, in itself, experiencing god. so really all that is needed to help humanity, as you so eloquantly put it, is just love and help people how you can so that the absolute peace (beyond happy and sad) of non subjective reality can shine through to your conciousness and everyone else's. this i all just my opinion take it with however many grains of sugar as you wish

  • @jeff62rey I know! peace, people are to quick too judge.

  • @jeff62rey Doing a kind and caring action is a beautiful thing like the song, peace.

  • @jeff62rey Fantastic comment! I hope you do great in SF.

  • @jeff62rey Welcome to the Light brother! that's all we've ever wanted the people to see.

  • what is san francisco? one of the few major american cities I have never lived in. is it a place where the dispossessed may feel they might fit in, possibly have an opportunity to live as a free citizen? america is so much different now than when I began...

  • La podria escuchar unas 1000 veces y no me aburriria.

  • Best of the Best's ever !!!!! I love it !!!!

  • Greetings from San Francisco. You can be anybody and come here. The Russian boy who comes OUT big time. That Yucca boy, who is working 2 jobs cause, Scotty I got twins! The morman refugee, and we let him be. That girl with all those tatts, and Im not a dyke, I just like submissive men You go girl. The, well differnant Artist And then Me A boy from Memphis who got a chance to be gay man And my first bf, which i did brag about Hes a sexy Salvadorian Revolutionary. Very sexy indeed.
  • Muy buena rola

  • Immense succés de la période hippie, aline

  • Im only 29 but this is my favorite oldie of all time! I have loved this song my entire life

  • Ah, yeah: summer of '67, my 1st summer as a caddy. Spent it chugging around w/ 2 golf bags for 3 to 4 h a day in just a tee, cutoffs, & no shoes--packed into golfer's bag. I was 15, made $10 or $12/day, & got a full aerobic workout to boot.

There was other stuff goin' on too, in the woods, betw. the fairways, but it waren't really on the itinerary: something to do w/ members' daughters, appetite-enhancing smokeware, & altruism.

  • howdee edrusharry, there is a lot of truth in your statement. We are a spoilt generation, no doubt about it. I still have faith in the people we were then. I believe that the Arab Spring is another form of the same movement towards global connectedness. Chinese saying" water always finds it`s own level", so with us.

  • holy shit saw this video when there was like 1200 views, cudos

  • esta canscion esta de acuerdo con lo ermoso q es san fransisco la ciudad mas ermosa de califas

  • 1967 is my favorite year because is the year that my adorable wife LOLITA born I OWN MY LIFE TO HER

  • Man, such memories and the greatest music in the world. I'll never forget it as long as I live. Met my first love in '67 and she dumped me for some scum bag but man what a great time the 60's were. I'm glad I had the privilege to live and grow up in the greatest time in history.

  • I wish to be born on this period ...

  • It was such a fantastic era i will never ever forget the 60s and 1967 the summer of love!!!

  • Hi Wellch,

Yes it is true that we didn`t wash that often, in fact, I haven`t washed since 1968. It was the only way we could get the flowers to grow in our hair, man.

  • This song makes me so happy!

  • Is it true that most flower children did not bathe or shower that often?

  • Yes, I remember, girls had soft, wet things that wern't hard and protusive. Wonderful

  • great job

  • ...people and motion

  • Love this <3

  • A 60s master-peace!

  • Hi Berserker570, you make a good point. It seems that we still have war around us and yet it doesn`t involve nuclear weapons as it did for quite some time back then. I suppose when I talk of having peace for a long while I really mean that this aspect of global destruction is not evident any more. Many things have changed as a result of our stand against "the bomb". We will always seem naive compared to todays youth, but the world was less sophisticated, and violence was accepted. G

  • This song is a tribute to Roberto Roswellini's film The Flowers of St. Francis. That California hair salon shooting was directed at animal-cruel hair products; if you want to look pretty for ET St. Francis and gentle Gentile Adolphin Hitler, put flowers in your hair, not animal experiments.

  • Me Recuerda a Eder :3'

  • Thumbs up if you want to be simple again just like the 60's..

  • @xFalconboy310x

yeaa lets get all those mobile phones and tv's and electronic stuff away and lets meet people directly (:

  • @xFalconboy310x Move to Berkeley! Shit I was born here and I still feel like im in the 80's! Thats as close as youll get!

  • @xFalconboy310x

Haha, yeah, the 60's sure were simple... Black people couldn't marry white people and homosexuality was a disease... People stayed in loveless marriages for propriety's sake... If only it could be THAT simple again...

  • @xFalconboy310x SIMPLE 60s? I think not.

  • @xFalconboy310x I'm glad the hippie era is over but I must admit things haven't gotten better.

  • @xFalconboy310x They were embroiled in civil rights demonstrations, student strikes on campuses across the country, and an escalating and unpopular war. It really wasn't that different from today. ;) In 40 years, people will be looking back on this time in a similarly nostalgic though often forgetful manner.

  • @TheDashingRor I definitely agree with you. Each generation seems to face the same problems as the one preceding it and we are forced to learn the same lessons all over again, and in the future, look back on it and realize what happened.

  • @xFalconboy310x Oh sweetheart, if only the 60s were simple and sweet. Life has never been simple, and least of all in the 60s.

  • A most delightful voice. Lovely.

  • I was playing this song, and my dad knew Every word to the song.

  • It's such a magic, to feel a nostalgie to the decade you haven't be born.

  • Beautiful!!

  • This song reminds me what's wrong with this country today--not the song--its great--but the sentiment in it that no longer exists. As another post has written Americans have become passive, satified with cell phones--there is little rebellion against repressive gov.t's , corp.'s--little search for inner enlightenment. Its very, very sad. Atleast there was a bit of spark in the late 60's with the young people, naive though it might have been.

  • One of my favorite songs--lovely, gentle vibe--sweet melody with free lovin beat. Lovely city, too.

  • Im 16 and it is my goal to bring this time of peace, freedom, love and music back. Wish I was alive then... <3

  • @Youbetimthebest

    Best time for ever !!!!!

  • the flowerpower i wil by back

  • the flowerpower i wil by back

  • The 60"s were not simple.

  • Nothin wrong with flowers in your hair, these days they're full of maggots

  • @upthepole and what the f--- is YOUR hair full of? Atleast they were part of a movement for healing!

  • We had the best era.....great music.back then....not olike the junk they have now !!!!!!

    Bought back great happy memories.

  • If you've heard any interviews from Ozzy Osbourne,he clains this is the song

that inspired Black Sabbath to go in the other direction. You go Ozz,this is

still a beautiful song. And i like Sabbath too.

  • John philipps from the mamas and the papas wrote this song...Man I know california must have been a great place to be in the 60's with this song the beachboys hits and others such great music!

  • How can you sing to that city full of drugs, degenerate people and morally rotten! A paradise of the faggots, just the modern name of Sodomah and Gomorah.

Drugs in the head and .... in the mouth. Disgusting people, indeed!

  • l miss that time a lot.....!!! buahhhh

  • Like many faux-utopian movements, the hippie fad was based on narcissism. Hippiedom was all about sexism and (often violent) exploitation of women (they euphemistically called it "free love"), along with irresponsible drug use that often led hippies to destitution, petty crime and homelessness (did you ever walk through Haight Ashbury?). This song has a sweet melody, without a doubt, but its lyrics are goofy beyond belief, and a cartoon version of what the reality was. Trust me, I was there.

  • @froggo66 Well said, I joined the "hippie" movement, rock festivals, thought peace and love sounded good. Instead I found rip offs selling bad drugs (nearly died on bad acid) lot of beggars and thieves, sex with extras thrown in (if you know what I mean), it was just an illusion , a trap by the devil. Religion had become a ritual with no feeling and young people were seeking something better, followed the wrong road signs and they weren't Burma Shave! Some of us found the Truth & moved on.

  • @LkOutMtnMan What is Truth?? There was some excesses---but there always is with every movement---you also get the vultures dancing with the eagles. But remember that those youth were rebelling against 100 years of conformism. They were rebels with a cause. The Hippie movement was was a unique movement in U.S. history--when people were reaching for freedom within/without. Don't discount what it created on every cultural level--even to this day. Peace and love are STILL good.

  • Would love to live life again instead of life living me...

  • Thanks for posting this. Nothing like the real thing!!!!!

  • There might have been turbulent times back then , but I want to go back there, So much better than today.

  • Even though I was only 6 in 1967, I remember the hippie scene in Vancouver and wish I could have been part of it all. Life did seem much simpler and gentler.

  • John Phillips from the Mamas and Papas actually wrote this song, and then let Scott MacKenzie release it. Nice job John and Scott!

  • We are all still flower children at heart. We`re just a tad grizzled that`s all. We still have a contribution to make, and I think we have all already done so by our attitudes and how we raised our kids. The world hasn`t seen such a long period of peace for centuries and people are reaching a plateau of harmony that we sang about with CS&N and Joan Baez. Jeez, just imagine..........

  • @SuperGaross where is peace? Here's war all over the world, just saying

Afghanistan, Iraq, Israel and Palestine, parts of Africa, Mexico vs their drug cartells ,..

  • @SuperGaross I disagree, I think we have lost the plot!

I'd would love to agree but I think we have now become the most selfish generation in history.

Everything is now about the individual and screw the rest of the world 8(

  • le temps des fleurs

  • Aw come on guys, there was plenty of stress back in the day. Atomic war, Communism, police states and we had a struggle if you remember. I saw heaps of marines and sailors on R&R her in Aus. They went through some real bad stuff. The music was wonderful, but even better was the social togetherness we had, world-wide!! The real hippies are still inside us doing good things.

  • @SuperGaross Thank you! The operative word here is world wide social togetherness. I believe it can happen again. Because, as are you, I'm still a hippie. My shrink once asked me what I had wanted to be when I was like 13 or 14. I said, I wanted to be a hippie. He answered, I think you've succeeded.

  • i might actually take some people seriously when they say they'd rather live( or miss) in a simpler time or the 60's/70's if they weren't socially networking on the computer when they express it

  • @Broski8137 Since you obviously partake in social networking yourself, i"m wondering what your point is?.

  • the sound and the music is wonderful.....good(great) job if only we could get back to that simpler time i was born in the 60's but the 70's also carried great music thanks

  • i like this one

  • God, I want to wear some flowers in my hair, and live in a loving, simpler time. Count me in.

  • Take me back..Now! Life was fun and simple. This song is the greatest!

  • Comment removed

  • im 15 and id love to go back in time to experience those years cus quite frankly today is so dull and samey!

  • wheres Rod Serling when you need him ? . . . .

  • Where have all the flower children gone? Gone to make war on everyone... where have all the young men gone, gone to be soldiers... every one!

  • Live was better then.Even though people had very little, they were more caring, shared what they could, and enjoyed the simple things in life.

Today who would be happy without a mobile phone, computer, ipad, designer labels and a sleek new car?

  • soo good - am there atho 57!

  • A time of simplicity never existed its always been a struggle. Perspective is a luxury when your in the middle of living. Nostalgia isn't reality its an emotion. All the same, I ache for ago.

  • It was a terrible time, very confusing for me, but I believe the fruits of this time are yet to be realized. Some people talk of peace like a passing fad, but the concept of peace goes all the way back to the first time a mother begged for the life of her child.

Humanity is on the threshold a great social change like many others throughout history. Although greed pervades, especially here in the US, we are realizing this planet is getting too small for war. Come on people smile on your brother.

  • Estoy de acuerdo 06171260

  • when life was simpler. Money and America have ruined freedom and peace forever.

  • LOL I think people need to check into the 60's history, EASIER? JFK was murdered, the Vietnam war, the rights movement, the womens movement, Black Power, White Power, Riots in the streets, murder at colleges and and and. A lot of cool stuff happened Woodstock, the moonshot etc but it was a crazy time!

  • WONDERFUL VIDEO!! AND THE SONG IS IN MONO TOO. THANKS!!

  • Sin duda una gran melodia para esos años 60's y para todos los que vivimos esos años

  • I have loved this song since it came out. Was the 1960 s simple, well it had it s sadness and it s joys, tragdies and victories, great music and the loss of great singers. War and protest. Childern could normaly play in thier yards with no harm awaiting them. Turning 16 was still sweet and school dances were cool. A mix bag but very memorable.

  • if I wore flowers in my hair today in San Francisco, I would maybe be beat up.

  • "sorry if the sound quality is not quite right"

The sound's great, mate. I'm just going to learn it on my guitar

  • happy memories of that time

  • Thanks. During 1967 Scott McKenzie's hit expressed the desire of a generation to end all wars and to be at peace forevermore.

  • @KFUN1160 Problem is, radical muslims don't want peace with us; they want to subjugate us; convert or kill us. Would you prefer to live under tyranny of 7th century life under their religious theocracy or life today? Good example is Iran.

  • Problem with San Francisco today its full of beggars, drug abusers, illegal immigrants and idiots running the city to the ground. Criminals have more rights than victims. I got the feeling the city will be destroyed from within and natural disaster. Too bad San Francisco living was so awesome from its discovery to 1990's.
