@Medafoure lace monitors rarely get over 2 metres and females never get anywhere near that. This is a big female, one of the biggest I've seen, and she's around 1.4 metres. I've seen one huge male lace monitor that was pushing 2.2 metres, but to say that all lace monitors get that length is like saying that all humans get as tall as Robert Pershing Wadlow :)
Yes. The babies from this clutch can be seen in my video Mini-monitor mayhem. I tried posting it as a video response but for some reason it isn't working.
bro that is soo trippy its awsome beautiful monitor and what hapens if u dont use an incubator for the eggs u just leave the eggs with the mom but u put a extra heating pad and lamp there cant it just work cuz i wana breed argus monitors and incubators r expensive i eman how do they od it in nature?
If I left the eggs in there to incubate the male would probably eat the babies when they hatched. In nature they have unlimited space so the male is unlikely to be anywhere near the nest at hatching time.
Sorry Dave edgy was probably the wrong word, i was looking more how she kept going back & forwards to the nesting site, then dashing off for a bask, coming back and going off again over a period of time. Is this behaviour her simply waiting for nature to take it's course, contractions etc?
Yes, that seems to be what's happening. At some level she instinctively 'knows' it's about to happen, it's just a matter of when, so she lounges around and stops now and then to have a peek at the nest hole until she's ready. As far as I know, she normally nests late in the afternoon to early evening. This nesting was fairly early, starting at noon.
The funny thing is, she's the opposite of edgy before she lays. She's much lazier than usual, lying around a lot (that's atypical for her). It's the time lapse that gives the impression of her being twitchy, for even when she's lying in the same spot for a long while, moving her head now and then and dozing off, it comes across as her being restless and blinking like mad. Keep an eye on the clock and you'll see that she's holding the same pose for several minutes at a time.
Thank you that's good to know. Are you located in the states?

and I wish I could get time lapse of the eggs hatching, but there's no room or light (and too much humidity) in the incubator :(
