The mountain folks' tune was reused for the Popeye short, "Hillbilling and Cooing", but with new lyrics. Incidentally, this cartoon borrow from a song called (I think) A tisket-A tasket. Listen for it when the hilbilly son is looking out the gap in the front door and replying No No No No to all the questions.
Mae Questel was NOT "Betty Boop" here- she remained in New York when Max Fleischer moved his studio and staff to Miami in late 1938. Margie Hines was Betty's voice {and Olive Oyl's in the concurrent "Popeye" series} in her final 1938-'39 cartoon releases. Jack "Popeye" Mercer is several hillbilly voices, also....
this song is reminiscence of Snow whites song when there all playing around dancing...
